Chapter 278: They were all captured.

Under the command of the long-haired monster, the primitive people threw away their bows and arrows, and drew various kitchen knives, woodcutting knives, axes and other weapons from their waists. They fought without any strategy, simply ganging up on each other in an attempt to win by numbers.

An ordinary person would have been beaten flat by so many of them, but Zhu Xichen was highly skilled in martial arts and held a precious sword in his hand. He took down these people with miscellaneous knives in just a few moves.

Tsk, to be honest, he felt a little embarrassed. These people didn't know any kung fu at all, so it was a bit unfair for him to win.

At this moment, Zhu Qiuyu and Zhu Chumo emerged from the swamp and rushed over. It was too dark, and when they saw Zhu Xichen being surrounded by so many people wearing animal skins from afar, they were worried that he couldn't hold on, so they quickly came over to help.

As soon as he got close, he took care of the group of people, who were now lying on the ground screaming and howling in agony.

"That long-haired monster fled into the forest." Zhu Qiuyu noticed this with his sharp eyes. Although the creature was extremely fast, it still couldn't escape his notice.

"Quickly, after them!" Zhu Xichen said.

Zhu Qiuyu called out to him, "Third Junior Brother, don't be in such a hurry. We've already left the swamp, and there's no miasma here. It's too dark right now, and the forest isn't safe. Let's wait until it's light before we chase after them."

Before Zhu Xichen could say anything more, he suddenly caught a glimpse of someone on the ground quietly getting up and preparing to escape. He released a hidden weapon and struck the person's ankle.

"Ouch!" The man fell to the ground and begged for mercy, "Great hero, spare my life, spare my life!"

Hmm? They can understand what this person is saying, and it's not the language of so-called primitive people, so these people are the same as them?

Zhu Xichen pulled the man over and questioned him, "We'll ask you a few questions. If you answer honestly, we can let you go."

"Okay, whatever you want to know, as long as I know it, I will tell you."

Zhu Chumo took the luminous pearl and shone it on the man's face, discovering that he was just a sixteen or seventeen-year-old boy with disheveled hair, wearing an animal skin coat and boots sewn from animal skin.

The young man was quite tall and strong, and it was clear that he ate very well to have grown such a tall and strong physique.

"Who are you all? Who is that person whose whole body is covered by long hair? How long have you lived here? Have you ever gone out?" Zhu Xichen asked several questions in a row.

The boy raised his hand. He knew the answer to this question. "I know. I was captured and brought here when I was twelve years old. I was captured by that long-haired boy. At that time, a landslide occurred in our village and many people died. My parents and grandparents also died in that earthquake."

I was the only one left alive in my family. My father was crushed to death by a collapsing wall while trying to save me. I followed the villagers to escape the famine. Several times along the way, I was almost captured and eaten by the refugees, but luckily I was quick-witted and escaped. Finally, we arrived at Chaimu Village. When we, a group of refugees, entered the village, we were planning to rob them of their food.

The villagers of Chaimu Village were incredibly fierce; they grabbed their weapons and started fighting us. At first, the two sides were evenly matched, but then a long-haired monster suddenly appeared. We didn't recognize the long-haired boy at the time and thought the village was haunted.

Everyone was terrified. Those who reacted quickly took off running. They had no mind to grab the food anymore. Before long, almost all the refugees had fled. But some timid people and young children remained, paralyzed with fear. They wanted to run, but their whole bodies were trembling, and their feet felt rooted to the spot; they couldn't move.

Later, the refugees who failed to escape were captured by the hairy monster time and time again. The villagers of Chaimu Village helped carry the people and threw them into the swamp, where the hairy monster would pick them up. Of course, the outsiders did not know that the hairy monster had captured people and taken them to the other side of the swamp; they only thought that the people had been thrown into the swamp to be used as fertilizer.

"We were all knocked unconscious when we were captured. When we woke up again, we were lying on the edge of the swamp. Some people were scared and tried to escape, but they sank into the swamp and couldn't climb out. Everyone knew this was a swamp; once you stepped in, you couldn't get out. Nobody dared to run into the swamp anymore."

Some people ran into the forest, but there were wild beasts in the forest, and going into the forest was a dead end. Later, no one dared to run anymore. Seeing that we were obedient, the long-haired boy appeared again and told us to come with him. Then he led us to his house. The boy chuckled and scratched his head as he said this.

"Stop grinning like an idiot, keep going," Zhu Xichen gestured.

"Later we found that following the long-haired young master not only meant we could eat our fill, but we also had animal skin clothes to wear in winter. Everyone felt that it was better here than outside. Every day we followed the long-haired young master into the forest to set traps and hunt. There were many prey in the forest, and we could often eat meat, and it was always enough." At this point, the boy was addressed as "young master," which shows that he had accepted the long-haired monster.

Zhu Xichen understood. "So all of you were captured by the hairy monster, and there was no one here before?"

Perhaps the injury on his foot aggravated the boy's expression, for he hissed before answering, "I asked the old people here, and they said that originally there was only the hairy monster and his parents here, and everyone else was captured here by the hairy monster and his father."

Zhu Xichen looked at Zhu Qiuyu, who then asked the boy, "What else do you do besides hunting?"

"Farming," the boy said matter-of-factly.

"Farming? You're still farming here?" Zhu Qiuyu was astonished.

"Everyone needs to eat. Sometimes we don't catch anything while hunting, and there's no food at home. What will we eat? Won't we starve to death?" The boy glanced at Zhu Qiuyu with the look of someone looking at an idiot, finding the question very strange.

"Where did you get your seeds?" This was what Zhu Qiuyu was curious about.

"Of course we went to Chaimu Village to get it. Young Master Longhair went to get it," the boy said.

"Doesn't Young Master Longhair have a name? What are his parents' names...?"

Before Zhu Qiuyu could finish asking, a middle-aged woman suddenly interrupted, "Don't ask anymore, we won't tell you. Azhuang, shut up, don't say anything more, you can't betray the master and madam."

Zhu Qiuyu scoffed, "We already know almost everything. We'll find their hiding place, which is your home, soon by tomorrow morning. It's fine if you don't tell us now, but you can't leave either. You'd better lead the way for us tomorrow. If you cooperate, we won't do anything to you, but if you dare to play tricks, don't blame us for being ruthless."

Knowing she couldn't win, the woman fell silent, lay back down on the ground, and pretended to be dead, feigning that she hadn't heard Zhu Qiuyu's words. She would deal with tomorrow's matter tomorrow.

"Gurgle." It was Zhu Chumo's stomach growling. Seven hours had passed since he entered the swamp this morning, and he hadn't eaten anything. No wonder he was hungry.

Zhu Qiuyu and Zhu Xichen ate a steamed bun and a few pastries that they had brought with them on the way. Zhu Chumo disliked the heavy miasma in the swamp and could always smell a faint stench in his nose, so he did not want to eat anything, which is why his stomach was growling with hunger.

Seeing her fourth junior brother's somewhat embarrassed expression, Zhu Qiuyu chuckled, "You two wait here, I'll be right back."

"Senior Brother, we're not familiar with this place, so please be careful," Zhu Xichen advised.

"Alright, I understand, don't worry." Zhu Qiuyu appreciated his junior brother's concern and drew his sword to clear the way as they entered the forest.
