Chapter 285 Unapproachable

"You want us to take Zhao Mingyue away from here?" Zhu Qiuyu's tone was certain.

"Yes, I hope you can take care of me on the way." Fang Yuniang's goal was to find a reliable person to take her grandson away.

"You have Da Niu, so you can leave the swamp whenever you want?" Zhu Qiuyu didn't understand why Fang Yuniang insisted on having someone else interfere in this matter.

“Mingyue is only thirteen years old this year. I am really worried about him. But his grandfather’s revenge must be taken. Shui’er has never had contact with outsiders, and neither has Mingyue. I am worried that they will suffer. So I’m shamelessly begging you to help my child.”

After Fang Yuniang finished speaking, she gestured with her chin toward Song Zhaodi. Her daughter-in-law immediately brought over a wooden box, but Zhu Qiuyu didn't take it. Instead, she looked at the old lady.

"This is full of rare herbs that are very hard to find. I collected them when I was still healthy years ago, deep in the mountains. I'm giving them to you as a thank you for helping me. There's nothing else in these mountains except these herbs."

"What do you think, Fourth Junior Brother?" Neither Zhu Qiuyu nor Zhu Xichen knew much about herbs.

Zhu Chumo opened the lid, glanced at it, and was quite satisfied. "Approved."

Those medicinal herbs would be useful to Fourth Junior Brother, so he agreed to Old Madam Fang's request, and Zhu Qiuyu and Zhu Xichen would not object.

"It's getting late today, let's go back tomorrow." Zhu Chumo spoke to Old Madam Fang at this moment.

Fang Yuniang had talked too much and was too tired to respond. She leaned against her daughter-in-law with her eyes half-closed, raised her hand slightly and waved to indicate that everyone could leave.

Zhao Shui turned his head away and refused to leave. He sat down on the stool by the bed and stayed by his mother's side. Fang Yuniang opened her eyes and looked at him, and said softly, "Zhao Di, you and Mingyue go out to entertain the guests. Shui'er and I have something to say."

"Mingyue, come out with your mother." Song Zhaodi took her son's hand and left the room.

Zhao Mingyue watched as his mother went to the kitchen to prepare dinner, and then quietly ran back to the door to eavesdrop.

"Mother, didn't you say you wouldn't seek revenge? That our family would just live a good life here?" Zhao Shui asked, her eyes red with sadness.

“I originally didn’t plan to take revenge, but you want to. I know I can’t stop you. I’m really worried about you and Mingyue, so I thought of finding someone to help you. It’s not easy for us to survive. If you and Mingyue have to pay a price for revenge, then I would rather not take revenge. I just hope that your family can live well.”

"Mother, it's my fault."

“You’re not wrong. It’s your mother who’s incompetent and made your life so hard. After your mother is gone, you, Zhaodi, and Mingyue must take good care of each other. If you have the chance, find Mingyue a girl as good as his mother to marry, and have a few more children.” Fang Yu’s mother closed her eyes again after saying that.

Zhao Shui was in poor health, and after giving birth to Zhao Mingyue, Song Zhaodi was unable to conceive again. This was a source of pain for Fang Yuniang. She always felt guilty towards her son, believing that if she hadn't attempted suicide, her son wouldn't have suffered from such poor health.

Fortunately, Zhao Mingyue was very strong, which gave her some comfort.

When Song Zhaodi was pregnant, Fang Yuniang took good care of her, giving her all the best food and fattening her up until she was plump and healthy. The son she gave birth to was also healthy.

Dinner was ready, and Song Zhaodi brought over a bowl of simmered meat porridge. She saw Zhao Mingyue eavesdropping in front of her mother-in-law's room, and she was both annoyed and amused. She walked over and glared at him.

"Why are you eavesdropping on your grandma and dad's conversation again? You're getting more and more unruly."

Zhao Mingyue pursed her lips, not making faces or acting spoiled as usual, but simply said in a muffled voice, "Mom, I'm going to eat."

That night, Zhu Chumo couldn't sleep, so he walked all the way to the edge of the swamp. Unexpectedly, someone had arrived before him. Looking at the little boy with long, trailing hair walking along the edge of the swamp in the darkness, he rubbed his temples hard.

It's really hard to get used to this kid having such long hair. Even though he's brave and knows about Zhao Mingyue, this long-haired weirdo, he was still startled for a moment.

"If you really want to go out, you have to cut your hair short. It's hard to manage this long hair, and it will scare people away."

Zhao Mingyue turned around abruptly, first frowning at the white-clad man in front of her, then her eyes lit up. "You walk without making a sound, and I didn't even notice you approaching. I can do that too. I practiced for a long time to learn it. My parents and grandmother don't know kung fu. I learned this skill on my own since I was a child. I'm very good at hunting."

The boy has a cheerful personality. When he speaks, he often curls the corners of his lips, much like his grandmother, giving people a comfortable and gentle feeling.

"Are you having a great time here?" Zhu Chumo looked at the boy's bright smile. Even though it was dark and there was no moonlight, he could still see the boy's teeth were dazzlingly white. He loved to laugh and it was clear that he was a child who had grown up in a loving environment.

“My parents and grandma love me very much. I have been happy since I was a child, unlike my dad, who has suffered so much since birth. My dad wants to find his enemies to take revenge. My mom and I don’t want him to be unhappy, so I must go out and take revenge.”

Zhu Chumo listened quietly as the young boy poured out his heart, and finally he said sincerely, "You are very good, your family has raised you very well."

"Right? I think I'm pretty good too." Zhao Mingyue chuckled.

This kid is a bit simple-minded and quite narcissistic; sometimes he's even similar to his junior brother.

In Chaimu Village, after waiting for six days without seeing anyone return or a distress signal flare, everyone became impatient. After some discussion, they unanimously decided to go into the swamp to search for them.

Zhang Xiantao was overjoyed. Heaven rewards those who persevere; she had finally gotten her chance to enter the swamp. She quickly called her two maids, guards, and Li Tianlin to prepare planks so they could head towards the swamp first thing tomorrow morning.
