The Zhou family.
Zhou Laosan was carried back by Zhou Laoer and Zhou Laosi, howling. He was not injured in the fight with the refugees, but Zhou Erfu kicked him in the back, probably breaking his ribs, and his head was also beaten into a pig's head.
Zhang Cui was kicked by Zhou Erfu, causing her head to hit a rock and leaving a large gash on the back of her head. She is currently experiencing severe headaches, dizziness, and nausea. She has a concussion, but the Zhou family does not know this and thinks she is going to die.
Upon hearing that Zhou Erfu had beaten them up like this, the two elders of the Zhou family immediately went to the end of the village to settle accounts with Zhou the Elder.
When they arrived at Old Zhou's house, they saw that the family still had the leisure to eat. Old Zhou was furious and tried to overturn the table. However, the eight-immortal table was quite heavy, and the quintuplets knew his intention and pressed down hard on the tabletop, so Old Zhou couldn't lift it.
"You've gone too far! You don't even know who I am anymore? Eldest brother, your Erfu beat his third uncle and aunt so badly that they're now lying in bed half-dead. The third uncle's wife is covered in blood and can't even stand up. She keeps vomiting. If anything happens to them, you'll pay with your lives."
Zhao Guihua really wanted to say that evil deeds last a thousand years, and that Zhou Laosan and his wife wouldn't die so easily.
However, she only dared to curse in her heart and dared not say it out loud. After all, if Zhou Laosan and Zhang Cuiruo really died, her Erfu would suffer. Even if he was not arrested by the government, he would be criticized by outsiders.
After thinking it over, Zhao Guihua decided to go and see. "Dad, I'll go check on the third son and his wife. I have some medicine for their injuries; they might come in handy."
"What are you going to see? You're not a doctor. Hurry up and take out all the money in the house so we can take the third son and his wife to see a doctor in town tomorrow." Old Zhou repeatedly emphasized that he needed money and urged Zhou the eldest son and Zhao Guihua to give him the money quickly.
“No money, Dad. You know our family’s situation best. When we divided the family property, you didn’t give us a single copper coin. My eldest son and I have had a very hard time these past few years. Where would we have any extra money to save?” Zhao Guihua said expressionlessly.
Old Zhou's face grew increasingly grim as he listened. Although he knew he was in the wrong back then, he couldn't admit he was wrong. Instead, he became angry and said, "That happened years ago. Why do you keep bringing it up? I'm an elder. Who gives you the right to tell me what to do?"
"Fine, I'm an outsider, then remember what you said today." Zhao Guihua was furious. She knew very well that the Zhou family had never treated her like family. Although she wasn't surprised that Old Man Zhou had brought it up so bluntly, she still felt very uncomfortable.
Seeing the two arguing endlessly, their anger growing stronger, Zhou the eldest interrupted them, "Alright, Dad, just say less. Guihua, don't be angry. Go get some medicine and go see them. If you keep dawdling, the third son and his wife will become hopeless."
Fearing that Zhou Laosan and Zhang Cuizhen might die and implicate Erfu, Zhao Guihua stopped arguing with Old Man Zhou and went to Old Zhou's house with the medicine.
Old Zhou refused to leave and wanted to say something more, but the eldest son, Zhou, suppressed his impatience and said in a muffled voice, "Dad, you should go back and look after the third son and his wife. My foot isn't fully healed yet, so I can't entertain you. I'll go to bed first."
"Bang." After saying he was going to lie down, he actually went into the room and closed the door, leaving Old Man Zhou standing there staring blankly.
The quintuplets had no feelings for Old Man Zhou and didn't want to talk to him right now. Xingxing also disliked him, taking a few bites of food and glancing up at him before finally rolling her eyes and pretending he didn't exist.
Although Old Zhou didn't look at many children, he vaguely sensed their unfriendly gazes. He cursed a few times in anger, stomped his foot, and wisely left.
Xingxing and the quintuplets quickly finished their rice and then went to Old Zhou's house one after another. They were worried that Old Zhou's family would bully Zhao Guihua, so they had to go and keep an eye on things.
Zhao Guihua examined Zhou Laosan and Zhang Cui's injuries and found that although Zhou Laosan's head looked swollen like a pig's head, he had not suffered any vital injuries. It was just a superficial wound, and his ribs should not be broken, otherwise he would still be able to sit up.
Zhang Cui had a gash on her head, which looked quite frightening. After thinking for a moment, she brewed some internal medicine for Zhou Laosan and Zhang Cui and gave it to them.
When they were giving the medicine, Zhou Lao Er and his wife helped. These two honest men believed that Zhao Guihua was not lying and that the medicine should make them feel better. Lao San and his wife refused to drink it, so they helped to force-feed them the medicine.
Afterwards, Zhao Guihua applied medicine to Zhang Cui's wound and was about to leave when Zhou Laosi and his wife, wanting to get some benefits from her, stopped her from leaving.
"Sister-in-law, you want to leave already? What kind of medicine did you give Third Brother and Third Sister-in-law? What if they drink it to death? You can't leave. You have to wait until they wake up and make sure they're alright before you can leave." Zhou Laosi sneered. He had just watched Zhao Guihua give Third Brother and Third Sister-in-law medicine, but he didn't stop her. He just wanted to see what would happen.
My sister-in-law, a peasant woman, actually gave people random medications. Isn't she afraid of killing them? She's incredibly audacious.
“I won’t die. Even if I did, I’m at the end of the village and have nowhere else to go. You can just come and find me. Move aside and don’t block my way.” Zhao Guihua glared at him, her tone sharp.
"When we went back to find you, you locked the gate and wouldn't let us in. How are we supposed to settle accounts with you? You think you can leave? No way!" Old Zhou persisted, determined not to let anyone leave.
Just then, Old Zhou returned. Before he could even enter the courtyard, the quintuplets pushed him aside, and the five of them rushed into Old Zhou's house.
The five boys, each holding a wooden stick, threatened Zhou Laosi and his wife. Zhou Erfu, in particular, was still very fierce despite being injured. "You two get out of the way and don't bully my mother, or we'll beat you up with a stick."
Zhou Laosi and his wife were startled and before they could react, Zhao Guihua had already been taken away by her five sons. Zhou Laosi wanted to chase after them, but when he thought about how badly Zhou Laosan and Zhang Cui were injured, which was done by Zhou Erfu, he immediately chickened out.
