Chapter 428 Some People Really Can Fly

After discovering that their men who had gone out to chase the foreigners had not returned, the Japanese on the island sent out a few more people to patrol, but by then Zhu Lin and the others had already left, and the sea where the fight had taken place had returned to calm. The Japanese who had been thrown into the sea had long since sunk to the bottom of the sea.

Perhaps it was eaten by sharks in the ocean, which is why the body didn't float to the surface, and the Japanese found nothing.

"Could it be that the foreigners have fled far away, and Matsuo and the others have chased them to a very distant place?"

"That should be the case. It's impossible that more than twenty of them were killed by three foreigners, right?"

After searching around without finding anyone, the Japanese lost patience. They made wild guesses and then gave up and turned back.

Night fell quickly. By this time, Zhu Lin and his group had been waiting for a long time at the bottom of the cliff on one side of the island. They even cooked dinner on the boat and waited until it was completely dark before they began their operation.

Bai Rizhu Lin had estimated the height of the cliff. With his strength, he could easily fly up. He might need to pause briefly, but that wouldn't be a problem. He had a sword, and if he needed a foothold, he could simply insert it into the cliff face.

If he were alone, he could fly up directly, but he would need to take Xingxing with him. It would be a bit strenuous for two people, and he didn't feel comfortable leaving Xingxing alone with the three foreigners, so he was determined to take her up with him.

The foreigners were very skeptical of what Zhu Lin said. How could anyone fly up such a high cliff? Was he just playing a trick on them?

"Once we get up there, we'll throw a rope down. You'll tie the rope around your waists and take turns climbing up," Zhu Lin said expressionlessly.

"Why don't you go up first and then we'll talk?" The foreigner couldn't help but say this, which sounded very questionable.

Zhu Lin ignored him, turned around, put one arm around Xingxing's waist, gripped the sword in the other, and disappeared from the spot with a whoosh.

The three foreigners were all stunned. When they came to their senses and looked up, Zhu Lin had already led his men into the air. The night was dark, and the three of them only had time to see a burst of sparks from a sharp weapon on the wall. In the darkness, a dark shadow was faintly seen rushing towards the top.

"Did you get up there? Did any of you see it clearly?" The shortest of the foreigners, who spoke the Central Plains dialect, asked the other two.

The tallest of them shook his head in a daze. "I didn't see it clearly. I just saw a blur and they disappeared. I didn't hear the sound of something heavy falling into the sea. They must have flown up."

"People from the Central Plains really can fly." The shortest man stared in astonishment.

The man of medium height, with brownish-red eyes, kept his head up. He seemed to be the first to accept the fact that Zhu Lin could fly, and was now waiting for the people above to throw down the rope.

After waiting for about fifteen minutes, they saw a thick rope being thrown down from the cliff. The three of them hurriedly reached out to grab the rope, and for a moment they were fighting over it.

"I'll go up first, you guys follow behind," said the shortest man.

This person could speak the Central Plains dialect and held a high position in the group, wielding considerable influence. Upon hearing this, the other two stopped their chaotic fighting.

"After I go up, Tom, you go first. Jerry, you're the best fighter, so stay last." The short man tied the rope around his waist and made further arrangements to prevent the two from fighting after he left.

Tom was the tallest and strongest man. During the day, he was the one at the very back, fighting desperately with the Japanese with a knife. Although he was seriously injured, he still looked the most energetic.

Jerry was a medium-sized man with reddish-brown eyes. He wasn't a great fighter, but he was smart, and this escape was his idea.

Jones gave his explanation, and Tom and Jerry quieted down, neither of them offering any objections, which meant they tacitly agreed with Jones's words.

Jones tugged at the rope, but the people above didn't react at all. He tugged several more times, but they still showed no intention of pulling him up.

It took him a long time to realize that the white-clad youth seemed to have said before leaving that he should throw down a rope for them to tie around their waists and then climb up the rope.

Jones' hands trembled slightly. He gritted his teeth and could only struggle to climb up the rope. The cliff face was very slippery, and every step he took was difficult. It was half an hour later when he finally climbed to the top of the cliff.

He collapsed to the ground, finding himself surrounded by darkness. It took him a while to adjust to the darkness and vaguely make out that the rope seemed to be tied to a large tree. The boy and girl were nowhere to be seen; they had disappeared somewhere.

Jones rested for a while and recovered before throwing the rope down again. Unlike Zhu Lin, he didn't run away and ignore the people below. The two below were his companions. He was all alone and helpless. He had to pull them up as soon as possible.

After he had worked up a heavy load, like an old ox, and finally managed to pull Jerry and Tom up, he felt a deep regret. He should have chosen to come up last; he wouldn't be so exhausted now, with his lungs feeling dry and his hands trembling.

"What about the other two?" Tom asked.

"I don't know, they had already left when I came up, they probably went to the mine," Jones replied, panting.

Then Tom and Jerry helped him up, and the three of them walked towards the mine, supporting each other. On the way, they met Zhu Lin and his companion.

The two were sitting behind a large rock, with a cloth spread on the ground and a lot of food on it, including fruit and roasted meat.

"Where did these things come from?" Jones suddenly thought of something and stared at the boy, asking, "By the way, you only took a sword with you when you left, nothing else. Where did you find that long, thick rope?"

This guy talks too much, asking questions he shouldn't ask. I really want to kill him with a sword.
