This servant was bought along with the house. Two servants were bought at the time to manage the house. They were both young, around thirteen or fourteen years old. They were quite clever, but also honest and not cunning.
Zhou Laoda and Zhao Guihua were cooking in the kitchen, one adding firewood and the other cooking and stir-frying the dishes. They were busy at work.
The servant suddenly stumbled in, making everyone think something terrible had happened.
"What's wrong? What happened?" Old Zhou stopped adding firewood and got up to come over.
The servant spat out a mouthful of saliva and said with difficulty, "Master, Miss, she and the young master went inside to do something important."
"What the hell? What are you trying to say? I don't understand." Old Master Zhou glared at the servant boy in annoyance. What was this kid babbling about? Xingxing and Brother Lin went into the house, so what? What could possibly happen?
The servant looked a little aggrieved after being glared at, and said with a bitter face, "Miss said she has to take care of important business with the young master. Master, didn't you say that Miss is not yet married? It's easy for something to happen if a man and a woman are alone in a room together. I'm just worried that Miss's reputation will be damaged, so I rushed to tell you."
"Don't talk nonsense! Brother Lin is a gentleman and would never do anything like getting married. You keep your mouth shut and stop spreading rumors. Otherwise, you'll make up stories that didn't happen. If I hear any bad rumors outside, I won't let you off the hook." Old Master Zhou scolded the servant with a stern face.
After dismissing the servant, Old Zhou sat on a low stool in front of the stove, his thoughts wandering far away. He was so absent-minded that he didn't even hear Zhao Guihua say a few words to him, lost in his own thoughts.
"Alright, if you're worried, just go take a look. Don't stand here in the way." Zhao Guihua raised her voice to bring him back to his senses.
