Chapter 55 is a bit arrogant

"What is your name? Who are your parents?" Master Song asked.

Xingxing blinked her big, clear black and white eyes, tilted her head, and said with a bewildered expression, "My name is Xingxing, the Xing of lucky star. My mother also gave me the formal name Zhou Linglong. Grandpa, what's your name? And who are your parents?"

Master Song chuckled. This child was not only beautiful, but also quite talkative. His childish words were precocious yet innocent, making him very endearing. "My name is Song Jincheng. I live in Lishan County. My parents have been gone for many years."

“Your parents are both gone? You’re so pitiful,” Xingxing sighed, staring intently at Master Song. Sensing no malice from him, she continued, “My father is Zhou Laoda, and my mother is Zhao Guihua. My home is over there.” She pointed to the thatched hut not far away.

Master Song chuckled again, "Xingxing, is it? Why are you so hostile towards me? What have I done to offend you?"

Xingxing looked at the old man in front of her and thought he was quite kind, unlike the arrogant manager, so she told him the truth.

"The place where you built your house was originally wasteland. Our family doesn't have much land, and we can't grow enough food to eat. My parents originally wanted to clear this land and grow sweet potatoes, but you came to build your house, so we can't clear the land anymore."

"Besides, it's so noisy here every day, it keeps me from taking a nap, so I'm angry. But since you're a nice person, I'll forgive you." Xingxing replied generously.

Actually, it wasn't her who couldn't sleep at noon; she slept just the same way, no matter what. The one who was frightened was Ruru. When Ruru was woken up from her sleep, she would cry and fuss, and it would take a long time to calm her down.

"So that's how it is. Then it really was my fault," Master Song said with a light laugh. "Since you've forgiven me, and considering how cute and lovable you are, I can compensate you with something. Tell me what you want?"

Xingxing looked into his eyes, making sure he wasn't lying, before asking, word by word, "Will you come to live here once the house is built?"

"They should, but not for long. They'll come to escape the summer heat," Master Song replied truthfully.

"I heard your family has many servants and guards. When you and your family move here, you mustn't bully the villagers, or you'll become a nuisance." Xingxing's eyes held hope and a hint of pleading.

When he saw her clear and innocent eyes, Master Song swallowed back the words he had intended to tease her with, and said seriously, "Okay, we won't do anything to bully others, I promise."

That's good, Xingxing can rest assured.

At this moment, Zhou Dajin, who was far away, suddenly shouted: "You nasty devil who drinks cold water will break the jar and cut his mouth; he will give birth to a daughter who hangs herself, and a son who will have only one leg."

After saying that, he disappeared in a flash.

Master Song: "?"

Xingxing: "He's cursing himself, Mr. Song, don't pay him any attention."

Master Song's sullen face broke into a smile again. The little girl was very good at talking; a few coaxing words in her sweet, childlike voice could immediately improve one's mood.

Seeing how arrogant she was just now, I thought she was just a rude and ignorant country girl, but I didn't expect her to be able to think about the villagers.

Such a broad mind at such a young age?

I wonder if those words she just said were her own idea, or if they were taught to her by the adults in her family?
