When Zhao Guihua rushed into the yard, this was the scene she saw: Zhou Laosan and Zhou Laosi were holding the wild boar's front legs, Zhou Erfu and Zhou Sifu were holding the wild boar's hind legs, Zhou Dafu was holding Zhou Erfu's waist, and Zhou Sanfu was holding his fourth brother's waist.
Xingxing was holding onto the pig's tail, and the two sides fighting over the pig were in a tug-of-war.
Zhou Wufu, brandishing a kitchen knife, howled, "If you don't let go, do you believe I'll chop you down with this knife?"
"You little brat, I'm your uncle, your elder. You dare to try and chop me up?" Zhou Laosan looked at Zhou Wufu, who was standing beside him, brandishing a kitchen knife and bluffing. His eyes were filled with malice.
“There are only a few people in your family. This wild boar is too big to kill you. Let me and your third uncle carry it back to the Zhou family. This wild boar should be given to your grandparents to take care of them,” Zhou Laosi said matter-of-factly.
These four brats, though they looked young, were surprisingly strong. They struggled for a long time but couldn't get the two brothers to succeed.
"Shameless scoundrel, you dare to steal our things? I'll show you!" Zhao Guihua swung a wooden stick and struck Zhou Laosan in the waist.
"Ouch, my back." Zhou Laosan's back injury hadn't healed when the bed collapsed before, and now he'd been hit with a stick again. It was going to kill him.
Zhou Laosan collapsed to the ground, and Zhou Laosi lost his balance. How could he possibly hold onto a wild boar by himself? But he didn't want to let go, so Zhao Guihua took the opportunity to hit him on the leg with a stick, knocking him down.
Soon the quintuplets surrounded Zhou Laosan and Zhou Laosi and started punching and kicking them.
Seeing this, Zhou the eldest quickly pulled his five sons apart and scolded them in a low voice, "Don't do anything reckless. No matter what, they are still your uncles."
It wasn't that he was soft-hearted, but the rules of etiquette and filial piety wouldn't allow it. If outsiders saw his son beating his own uncle, he would surely be drowned in spittle.
Serious offenses will be punished.
Zhao Guihua quickly pulled her sons apart, saying, "You carry the wild boar to the kitchen. Dafu, hold Xingxing. Honey, you go in and chop the pork into ten pieces. Erfu and the others, help out."
Before leaving, Zhou Laoda had already slaughtered the wild boar and had his five sons handle the internal organs at home, so it was easy to prepare now.
Just wait and see, the Zhou family elders will definitely come knocking on our door in less than fifteen minutes.
Sure enough, just as Zhou Laoda finished cutting the wild boar meat, Zhou Lao's parents, supported by Zhang Cui and Zhong Mailian, entered Zhou Laoda's house.
Zhou Laosan and Zhou Laosi were pinned down by Zhao Guihua with a wooden stick and dared not move, fearing that if they moved, their sister-in-law would swing the stick at them. When they saw Zhou Laotai and Zhou Laotou arrive, they immediately pushed Zhao Guihua away.
Crying and begging for mercy, she clung to the legs of the two elders and exaggerated their story, accusing Zhao Guihua and Zhou Laoda of wrongdoing.
"Father, Mother, my elder brother and sister-in-law don't respect you at all! I told them I was going to bring the wild boar meat back for you two to eat, but they wouldn't let me, and they even beat me!" Zhou Laosan cried and shouted.
Zhou Laosi was much the same way. "My eldest brother was just swinging an axe. He doesn't treat me and my third brother like brothers."
Upon hearing this, Old Man Zhou immediately glared with his cloudy eyes, pointed at Zhao Guihua, and cursed, "Eldest brother's wife, how can you be such a person? You beat your brother-in-law just because you wanted a little bit of meat from your family. The Zhou family must have been blind to marry you. We'll make the eldest son divorce you in the future."
The Zhou family elders have always favored Zhou Laosan and Zhou Laosi. The eldest son used to be honest and capable, but he changed after marrying this wife. He no longer listens to his parents and always gives food to his five sons. It's all because of the eldest son's wife.
"Father, Mother, don't put all the blame on me. I, Zhao Guihua, believe I have done nothing wrong to anyone. It was you who wronged me back then. When you saw that I had given birth to five sons in one pregnancy, you tried to use my sons to exchange for food when we were fleeing."
Dafu and the other two were only five years old then. I would have been heartbroken to lose either of them, but the third and fourth children were determined to take my children away. I hated them, and I still hate them to this day.
Zhang Cui was most annoyed by her bringing this up, and immediately retorted, "That happened so many years ago, and you keep bringing it up. You know what it was like when we were fleeing from disaster. Everyone did it this way. It wasn't just the third and fourth sons who did it. Do you want to hold a grudge for life?"
“That’s right, stop saying we’re heartless. How much better are you? When it rains and we can find food, you and your older brother find food but hide it and don’t share it. You don’t even give any to our parents. You only care about your five sons. Is this how you treat people?” Zhong Mailian chimed in from the side.
Zhong Mailian is Zhou Laosi's wife. She gets along very well with Zhang Cui, and their speaking tones are extremely similar.
They outnumbered her and were deliberately looking for trouble. Zhao Guihua couldn't win an argument with them, so she stopped wasting words and sneered, "As the eldest son, I should rightfully inherit most of our parents' and family's assets."
"But when we divided the family property, you didn't give us a single penny, yet you expect us to support you in your old age. Do you really think we're easy to bully?"
Over the years, the Zhou family had never set foot in their house, not because they thought they were poor and couldn't get any benefits from them, but now that they had gotten a wild boar, the whole family had come over to try and steal the meat.
It's truly disheartening.
“Supporting one’s parents is a matter of course. Do you and your elder brother want to shirk your responsibilities?” Zhou Laosan stood up and pointed at Zhao Guihua.
Zhao Guihua took a breath and said angrily, "I can give my parents meat if they want to eat it, but I won't give you a single ounce of meat if you people eat people without spitting out the bones."
"Where's the eldest son? Call him out. He's really grown up, daring to hide from his parents even when they come." Old Mrs. Zhou said with a gloomy face.
Zhou Laoda quickly ran out of the kitchen, still holding an axe in his hand, followed by Zhou Erfu and Zhou Sifu carrying out ten catties of wild boar meat.
