Chapter 81 Wild Ginseng was contributed to Zhou Dafa

"Dad, what should we do?" Zhou Erfu's mind was also buzzing.

Zhou Dafu reached out to check Zhou Dafa's breath, then shook his head; he couldn't sense a breath at all.

“Leaving it like this isn’t a solution. We have to do something. Let’s send him to town right away. We might as well try anything, even if it’s a hopeless case,” Zhou Sanfu said with a serious expression.

"Alright, I'll go get the oxcart right away. You guys carry the person out later." Old Zhou gritted his teeth and turned to leave.

Just then, Xingxing came in. She looked up at Zhou Laoda, her little chest heaving, showing that she had run hard just now. She was panting as she spoke, "Dad, Dad, hurry, hurry and get some wild ginseng to make soup for Dafa brother to drink."

That wild ginseng was already three hundred years old. Zhou Dafa was still on his last breath, and eating that wild ginseng would keep him alive.

Upon hearing this, Old Zhou was startled, and a glimmer of hope appeared in his eyes. He quickly ran back to his room and rummaged through the locked cabinet to retrieve the treasured wild ginseng.

Because the family received a lot of money later, the couple hadn't been willing to sell the wild ginseng, thinking they might need it in the future. Unexpectedly, it ended up saving their nephew's life today.

Well, no matter how valuable this wild ginseng is, it's not worth my nephew's life. Money can be earned back, but a life is truly gone.

Old Zhou was filled with mixed feelings. It would be a lie to say he wasn't heartbroken. After hesitating for a moment, he called his sons over to help with the fire and to boil the wild ginseng as quickly as possible.

Outside the courtyard gate, the wailing of Chen Caocao and Zhou Daya attracted the villagers. Zhou Lao Er also rushed over upon hearing the noise. When he learned that his son had been in an accident, he, whose head had been cracked open and was not fully healed, could not withstand the shock and collapsed unconscious.

Because Chen Caocao and Zhou Daya were only focused on crying, no one could get any information out of them, so they decided to go to Old Master Zhou's house to see if Zhou Dafa was really dead.

Zhou Erfu burst out of the kitchen with a bang, his face contorted with rage, and roared, "Get out of here, all of you! You want to see all the excitement? If you watch someone die, you'll pay with your lives!"

After yelling, he slammed into the courtyard again, knocking several villagers who had just stepped through the gate out of the way.

"Bang." The courtyard gate was immediately slammed shut and bolted.

The villagers said: "Erfu is like a wolf, very ferocious."

Zhou Wufu was taking care of Zhou Dafa in the house. He would put one-third of the ginseng slices into his mouth, chew them, and then spit them out to feed them to Zhou Dafa.

This was Xingxing's instruction. If they waited until the wild ginseng was fully cooked before drinking it, Zhou Dafa would probably have already died before he could finish. So they cut off a portion, chewed it up, and fed it to him to keep him alive.

At this point, Zhou Dafa was unable to swallow on his own, so Zhou Wufu could only lift him up a little, pinch his chin to force him to open his mouth, and then pour some water to help him swallow.

"Xing, will he really survive after eating our wild ginseng?" We've had this wild ginseng for more than half a year. Even when we were at our poorest, we couldn't bear to sell it. This kid is really lucky.

Thinking about this week, Zhou Fu felt uneasy. Although human life was at stake and could not be taken lightly, he still couldn't resist swallowing a piece of ginseng. He would be too unwilling to accept not even getting one piece.

My uncle was so sick before, and my mother only dared to pick ginseng roots to make soup for him. If she had known this would happen, she should have cut half of it to nourish my uncle. What a waste.

"Fifth Brother, don't worry about eating yourself, saving lives is the priority." Xingxing watched him swallow the ginseng slices nonchalantly and was speechless.

“Sister, look, this dirty child’s finger moved.” Ruru hadn’t stayed in Yegou Village for long. She came in winter, and she wasn’t feeling well at the time, so she spent most of her time at home. Not long after the New Year, she went to town, so she didn’t recognize Zhou Dafa. She only saw that he was covered in dirt, so she casually called him “dirty child.”

Xingxing hurriedly looked at Zhou Dafa's hand, but after looking for a long time, his fingers did not move at all. After thinking for a while, she reached out to check his breath. Although it was very weak, she could feel that there was a faint breath coming in and out.

"He's breathing again, he's hanging on by a thread," Xingxing said.

“He’s alive, so we can save the ginseng slices.” Zhou Wufu threw the remaining slices into his mouth, chewed them a few times, and swallowed them.

Xingxing ignored him, turned around and ran to the kitchen. She saw Zhou Laoda and the others still boiling ginseng soup with their faces covered in soot. Xingxing said in a childish voice, "Dad, brothers, Zhou Dafa is angry."

"What?" Old Zhou strode over and squatted down in front of Xingxing. "Daughter, you mean Dafa came back to life?"

“It’s not that it came back to life, it’s that it’s breathing,” Xingxing said earnestly.

He was brought back to life, but he still needs ginseng soup to keep him alive. After drinking the ginseng soup, we still need to call a doctor to come and see him, otherwise he still won't survive.

Xingxing told Zhou Laoda what she knew, and Zhou Laoda nodded, "Okay, Dad understands. Dafu, you two watch the fire, I'll go check it out."

Old Zhou went back into the house to check his nephew's breathing and found that he could indeed feel a faint breath, which relieved him a lot.

"Knock knock knock." After a few knocks, Zhao Guihua's voice drifted in, "One of you, the head of the household, will open the door and let us in. The onlookers have all left, only the village chief and the others are still here."

After the village chief arrived, he dispersed the villagers. He said, "Last time, Zhou Laosi's wife was bitten by a snake, and it cost a lot of money to save her life. It almost emptied our savings. Now, Zhou Laoer's family has also encountered trouble. Everyone seems to care. I think we should all chip in and give them some money so we can take Laoer's son to town for treatment later."

That's an insult. Although the whole village felt sorry for Zhou Lao Er's family when they suffered, it would be a lie to say they cared a lot. These days, nobody is well-off, so who has extra money to give to others?
