Zhu Changge turned each of the vases in the room around and felt around the walls, but she couldn't find the mechanism. Zhu Qingruo also touched all the objects in the room, but to no avail.
"Look on the bed," Zhu Lin said.
"I've looked in the bed, but it's not there," Zhu Qingruo shrugged.
"Did you check under the bed board and the mat?" Zhu Lin reminded him.
Zhu Qingruo walked to the bedside, curled her lip, and said, "That woman wouldn't be that perverted, would she? Tsk, there really is a trap."
She lifted the straw mat and found something unusual about the bed board. There was a square mark in the middle of the bed. She reached out and tried to press it, and heard a "bang". A door appeared near the head of the bed.
"I'll go take a look," Zhu Lin said, but before he could finish, he had already slipped into the secret room. A short while later, his voice came, "Senior sisters, come in together and bring Xingxing with you."
Zhu Changge tucked Xingxing under her arm and entered the secret room with Zhu Qingruo. They first went into a secret room where weapons were kept. After passing through this secret room, there was a set of stairs. Going down the stairs, they found a room with a bed and a person lying on it.
"Who is this?" Zhu Qingruo asked.
Zhu Lin didn't respond, but pointed to a door and said, "There's a secret passage leading outside. Wu Lianlian must have escaped from here."
"Then let's hurry and chase after them." Zhu Qingruo said, about to enter the secret passage.
“There’s no need for that. She’ll come back. There are so many jewels hidden in this secret room. That woman won’t just leave them like that. She’ll definitely find a way to come back and take them back,” Zhu Lin said.
"Oh, so what should we do now?" Zhu Qingruo wasn't persistent in pursuing him; if her junior brother said not to pursue him, then there was no need to.
Zhu Lin, holding Xingxing's hand, turned and walked towards the outside of the secret room, saying, "Let Gu Yiqiao come and see who's in bed."
Gu Yiqiao was leading his men over. Few of the servants in the Gu family obeyed his orders. He only brought Fu Ge and Zhou Laoda and his wife to the East Courtyard. This was thanks to the two female guards who cleared the way for them; otherwise, they probably wouldn't have been able to even get out of the West Courtyard.
Upon entering the East Courtyard, Gu Yiqiao immediately noticed the dozen or so guards lying on the ground. His heart, which had been in his throat, tightened even more. The people of Xianwu Island were too reckless; they acted without thinking. He wondered where Wu Lianlian was now.
"You've arrived. Junior Brother wants you to come in." The speaker was Zhu Yueran, who had been hiding in the shadows and hadn't shown himself until he saw Gu Yiqiao approaching, at which point he jumped down from the roof beam.
"Fifth Master, did you handle these people?" Gu Yiqiao asked Zhu Yueran.
Zhu Yueran's face was as cold as ice, and she said in a stiff voice, "No," and then urged, "Junior Brother wants you to go in."
Gu Yiqiao dared not dawdle any longer and quickly walked into the house. Zhou Laoda and his wife, along with their five sons, followed closely behind. Jingjing and Xiaoxiao stood guard at the entrance of the east courtyard, confronting the servants who had caught up with them.
Seeing Gu Yiqiao come in, Zhu Lin ignored him and instead examined a sword closely. He had just casually taken the sword from the secret room. He had only glanced at it once, but the scabbard caught his eye, so he took it out. Now, after looking at it a few more times, he felt it wasn't anything special.
Xingxing went in and out, carrying out several swords from the secret room where weapons were kept. When she saw Gu Yiqiao, the little dumpling put down the fifth sword she had brought out, wiped the sweat from her face, and then pointed to the secret room and said, "Go in from here, then go down the steps. There's someone lying on the bed in the secret room down there. Do you recognize him?"
Just then, a few of the Fu brothers walked in. They overheard what Xingxing had said, and their eyes lit up immediately. They had only ever seen secret rooms in picture books, and they had heard the storyteller say that they were too mysterious. They wanted to go in and see for themselves.
"Young Master Gu, wait a minute. We'll go in with you, but be careful." Zhou Erfu even called out to Young Master Gu so that he could openly enter someone else's secret room.
"Second Brother, don't rush off! Look what I brought you." Xingxing grabbed Zhou Erfu's clothes. There was no way to stop this simpleton; he was the fastest runner, and if she didn't grab him, he would disappear without a trace.
"Sister, your second brother will explore the secret room first before playing with you. Let go of me, I'll go in and take a look and I'll be right back." After saying that, Zhou Erfu pulled hard on his clothes and ran away.
The star puffed up its cheeks, "I found you a treasure and you don't appreciate it. I'm angry, I'm not leaving it for you, I'm going to sell it for money."
Zhou Dafu, Zhou Sanfu, Zhou Sifu, and Zhou Wufu were also eager to enter the secret room, but when they heard Xingxing say this, they immediately stopped in their tracks. The little girl was angry, and her baby voice rose high and sharp, which was quite something.
"Don't be angry, Xingxing. Even if your second brother ignores you, there are still four of us brothers here. What treasures have you found that you want to share with us?" Zhou Dafu said with a gentle smile as he squatted down in front of her.
Seeing that her four older brothers hadn't run away and were waiting for her to give them the treasures, Xingxing instantly calmed down. The little girl smiled with her eyes crinkling, and pointed to the ground with her little hand, "Look, swords! I brought them out of the secret room. You can each have one."
The little girl stood with her hands on her hips, chin held high in a smug manner, looking very proud of herself.
You wouldn't believe it until you see it! Wow, every single one of them is a precious sword. Putting aside the quality of the swords inside the scabbards, the scabbards are inlaid with several gemstones, and each side of the hilt is inlaid with a sapphire. They look incredibly valuable.
No wonder Xingxing said to sell them for money; these gems alone could fetch a lot of silver, making a fortune.
The four brothers, Fu, were quick-witted and each grabbed a sword. Zhou Sifu's eyes darted around, and he whispered to Xingxing, "Sister, Second Brother doesn't want this sword, so why don't we give it to Fourth Brother?"
Xingxing was stumped by the question. She had only said it in anger, and she didn't really mean she wouldn't give it to her second brother. She still wanted to give it to him and couldn't pass it on to her fourth brother.
