Chapter 1 I've Transmigrated into a Book

"This widow has a nice figure, but she's a bit too feisty. Brother, since we're already here, why not let everyone have some fun?"

"Keep your voice down, don't attract the villagers. The goods are due tomorrow, and if anything goes wrong, I'll use you as collateral!"

"Don't worry, a widow with several children to support can't possibly escape from a bunch of brothers, can she?"

"Just don't break it or kill it. My whole family is waiting for this life-saving food to escape famine. If it's missing limbs, it won't fetch a good price."

"I know, I know..."

The wooden door creaked open, and several dark figures slipped into the house under the cover of night.

In the darkness, Ye Wenxue felt herself being slammed against the wall by her hair, and a sharp pain shot through her forehead.

She suddenly opened her eyes, grabbed the wrist of the person in front of her, and twisted it sharply.

"Well!"

Before the man could even scream, his neck was gripped by that withered, thin hand, and he stopped breathing instantly.

The other men carried the gagged child out, turning back to whisper rebukes:

"Stop playing around and hurry up!"

But no one answered.

The burly man in charge tied up the kids, gagged them, and put them on the dilapidated cart at the door.

He slapped the boy who was struggling the most hard across the face, rolled up his sleeves, grabbed a wood-chopping knife, called his men, and headed into the house.

Upon seeing the man with a knife, the beaten child's pupils contracted. Ignoring the pain on his face, he rolled off the cart and kept crawling towards the neighbor's yard.

Inside the house, Ye Wenxue, who was hiding in the shadows, seized the opportunity and, using the shadow outside the door, knocked the knife out of the burly man's hand.

He rolled over again, picked up the wood-chopping knife, and swiftly chopped down the burly man who was trying to escape.

They then chased after the other uninvited guests.

In less than ten breaths, the people who broke into the house were all killed.

Ye Wenxue gripped the wood-chopping knife tightly, forcing herself to search each person for their silver. As she stood up, everything suddenly went black.

This body is too weak; it's hungry, weak, and has no strength.

His forehead hit the wall again, and blood was seeping out continuously.

Ye Wenxue subconsciously activated her wood-type superpower to heal her injuries.

A few breaths later, her heart sank suddenly.

What happened to her wood-based superpower?!

Ye Wenxue leaned against the corner of the wall for support, carefully sensing the surroundings for a moment before finally letting out a sigh of relief.

The wood-type ability is still there, but it has been inexplicably weakened to the strength it had when it was first awakened.

The space remains unchanged, measuring one square meter, with a small spring about the size of a palm, only big enough to hold small items.

The superpower was too weak to even stop the bleeding.

Ye Wenxue: "......"

Does it have to be this bad?

The only saving grace was that some supplies she had placed in her spatial storage before the mission arrived with her.

Ye Wenxue quickly stopped the bleeding from the wound and then used a thin strip of cloth to tie up her messy hair.

Suddenly, a series of banging sounds rang out from outside the courtyard.

Ye Wenxue quickly went out and saw that the original owner's eldest child had his hands tied behind his back, his mouth stuffed with a rag, and was constantly banging his head against the gate of the neighboring courtyard.

She then remembered that she was not alone and quickly stopped him from continuing to bang on the door.

After quickly untying the rope for him, Ye Wenxue patted his head somewhat awkwardly, comforting him:

"It's alright now."

Da Zhuang, whose eyes were bloodshot, was stunned.

When she came to her senses and looked over, she saw Ye Wenxue helplessly comforting her younger siblings who were wailing.

He rushed to Ye Wenxue in a panic:

"......mother?"

Ye Wenxue was comforting her thin, baby daughter Yuanyuan, who was still in swaddling clothes. She stiffly stroked her three children, who were crying loudly while holding her, and in between, she turned back and responded with a soft "Yes."

"Hey, Mother's here."

Da Zhuang felt a lump in his throat, took a few steps forward, hugged his two younger brothers, and suddenly burst into tears.

Surrounded by sharp, mournful cries, Ye Wenxue felt the wound on her forehead throb even more.

She couldn't help but curse under her breath.

She was a stunningly beautiful woman who had been single for twenty-six years, and it was one thing for her to be dressed up as a widow whose husband had died.

She's a mother of five!

Five!

God knows how devastated she was when she received the memories!

Fortunately, in her memory, these children were all well-behaved and sensible. Ye Wenxue became a mother painlessly without a husband, so she could barely accept it.

But Ye Wenxue suddenly realized that the names of some of the children looked familiar, and when she matched them with the plot of a certain book, her vision went black.

That's right, Ye Wenxue has transmigrated into the book.

During a break from a classified mission, one of his men somehow managed to find a novel.

Only the synopsis and title are complete; the main text is half-torn and half-splattered with blood, but it's readable enough to pass the time when you're bored.

Who would have thought that, by just getting by, she would transmigrate into the body of Ye Wenxue, a character with the same name as the adorable koi fish in this novel?

She is not the female lead, the supporting female character, the stepping stone, or the golden finger...

Instead, she transmigrated into the body of the mother of several villains in the book, who died tragically before fleeing famine in their youth.

It's the kind of story where the escape from famine hasn't even begun, and the protagonist gets stabbed right at the start.

Its sole purpose is to show the Lucky Girl's family the cruelty before and after the famine, and to warn them to be vigilant and protect the little girl.

The original owner's five children were all villains.

Especially the youngest daughter, Yuanyuan, who, after growing up, became a completely different and villainous supporting character from the main character, getting a slap in the face.

Ye Wenxue looked at the children, whose cries were growing increasingly shrill, with a complicated expression. After quickly sorting through the jumbled memories in her mind, her expression became even more unpleasant.

Spring has not yet ended this year, and the north and south have been suffering from a severe drought. The summer heat is scorching, but not a single drop of rain has fallen.

The water levels in the reservoirs of the surrounding states and counties plummeted, the rivers and streams became shallow enough to see the bottom, the fields withered and cracked, and the crops planted withered and died of thirst.
