Chapter 15: Settle Down?



Sanyuan and Siwang took a sip of water, and the cool water instantly sobered them up. They then slowed down and continued walking forward with Shuangshuang.

Sanyuan glanced back at his elder brother and saw him lagging far behind, but his steps were steady and powerful, so he didn't seem to be unwell. He thought of going to the front to put down the basket and then coming back to help him.

They soon arrived at the shady spot Ye Wenxue had mentioned.

The boulder blocked the sunlight, casting a shadow that was neither too big nor too small.

Ye Wenxue put down the basket, then took Yuanyuan off and handed her to Shuangshuang, who had caught up the next step.

She wiped the sweat from her forehead and said, "You all rest here. I'll go get your eldest brother."

Shuangshuang and Siwang were so tired they could barely speak, and could only nod silently.

Sanyuan put down the basket and followed behind Ye Wenxue.

The two, one big and one small, quickly returned.

Ye Wenxue took the dry rations from Dazhuang's back and carried them carefully, while Sanyuan took the water bucket from her older brother's hand, and with a little push, pushed her older brother, who was trying to carry it himself, to the resting place.

After resting for a while, Siwang felt much better and casually picked up the water bag to give the tired Dazhuang some water.

"No! I can do it myself."

Dazhuang refused Siwang's clumsy attempts to feed him and took the water pouch to drink by himself.

Ye Wenxue put down the dry food and forced herself to sit on the ground.

She glanced at Dazhuang and sighed heavily.

Shuangshuang was feeding Yuanyuan water when she heard Ye Wenxue sigh and couldn't help but speak up:

"Mother, we should wait until the sun goes down before we continue our journey."

It wasn't this hot back then, and there was a breeze on the road, which was much more comfortable than traveling in the middle of the afternoon.

Ye Wenxue shook her head, about to explain, when she suddenly noticed a large group of dark heads in the distance below the mountain.

She immediately stood up and leaned over to look down.
