Chapter 53 Becoming a big deal

The chieftain sneered.

If Baldy really disregarded his mother's life and led his men to forcibly kill him, the chieftain might actually think more highly of Baldy.

How can someone who isn't ruthless enough, bold enough, and intelligent enough achieve great things?!

No wonder the bald man was manipulated by Ye Wenxue and the other man.

Ye Wenxue, holding the chieftain hostage, slowly walked out: "All of you, step back, step back further away, and don't come within ten steps."

The bandits reluctantly and obediently left the cabin, leaving only Sui Ye and Su Jiu, who had stirred up trouble.

Su Jiu leaned over Sui Ye's tall back, glanced guiltily at Ye Wenxue's still-wounded neck, and timidly said, "How about... I treat your wounds first?"

He could only hope that after he made amends, Ye Wenxue would forgive him for implicating Sanyuan in his arrest and for stabbing him.

Ye Wenxue shook her head: "Let's meet up with Sanyuan first, and then find a chance to go down the mountain."

Su Jiu still remembered the herb garden and vegetable patch that had been trampled by the bandits and the house that had been smashed to pieces. Somewhat unwilling, he said, "No, I have to give some silver as compensation!"

He turned his head and started rummaging through the village chief's house, stuffing anything of value into his pocket.

Suiye: "......"

He glanced hesitantly at Ye Wenxue, then followed her to rummage through the things.

The chieftain laughed in anger. Connecting Ye Wenxue's and Su Jiu's words, he easily came to the conclusion: "The apprentice that Doctor Su picked up is your son?"

Fearing he might use some tricks, Ye Wenxue gripped the dagger tightly, not daring to move it even an inch.

A moment later, Sui Ye walked over and stuffed a high-quality jade pendant into Ye Wenxue's hand: "Take it, this is the most valuable thing in the room."

Ye Wenxue weighed it in her hand and figured it was worth a lot of money, so she casually stuffed it into her spatial storage.

Unbeknownst to her, the jade pendant instantly transformed into pure mist upon entering the space, swirling mistily above the spiritual spring.

Su Jiu was like a hamster hoarding grain, constantly stuffing things into his cloth bag.

Silver? Take it with you.

A sandalwood bracelet? I'll wear it.

Gold and silver jewelry? Bring them all!

He only stopped when Ye Wenxue got impatient and kicked Su Jiu.

The four then walked out of the house, with Sui Ye and Su Jiu in front, and Ye Wenxue carrying the chieftain at the back.

Outside, hundreds of bandits stood ready for battle.

Ye Wenxue kidnapped the chieftain and Sanyuan, who was hiding in Su's old house, and then kidnapped people all the way down the mountain, with a group of bandits following closely behind.

Several bandits, confident in their martial arts skills, tried to capture someone to exchange for one, but Sui Ye blocked them all and shattered their noses with a few punches.

During this time, the chieftain tried to retaliate more than once, but Ye Wenxue saw through his attempts one by one and broke his hand.

After finally reaching the foot of the mountain, more and more bandits followed them.

Seeing that Ye Wenxue and her group were about to escape and the chieftain was about to gain his freedom, the bald man and some others exchanged glances, gritted their teeth, and thought to themselves that they were going to risk everything.

The bald man shouted, "Brothers, charge! The chieftain is a heartless monster, forcing us to kill and murder, and even imprisoning our own relatives. He's not human! Anyone with a backbone, come with me and kill them!"

This sound caught many people off guard.

Baldy and his men rushed forward with lightning speed, almost hitting the chieftain, but Ye Wenxue deftly dodged by grabbing him by the collar.

The bald man was unwilling to give up and was about to continue his attack when a cold laugh suddenly came from the side: "Bald man, look who this is?"

Following the sound, everyone looked and spotted an old woman with white hair and a hunched back.

The bald man abruptly stopped his forward roll, his eyes reddening, and he shouted sharply, "Mother! Release my mother right now! If you have a problem, come at me!"

The old woman was being held hostage by a young man, while Aunt Wang stood triumphantly beside them, her face filled with hatred as she looked at Ye Wenxue.

Several bandits stood behind her, each with one or two people tied to their hands.

They were relatives of the bandit leaders of the bandit stronghold.

Ye Wenxue didn't quite understand why Aunt Wang hated her so much.

Her predecessor didn't do anything despicable to bully her, did she?

On the contrary, Aunt Wang did a lot of heartless things to ostracize and bully her predecessor.

Or was it that Aunt Wang herself was having a fit of hysteria, feeling that her predecessor had lived a better life than her, and thus harboring resentment and hatred?

Thinking this through, Ye Wenxue simply asked the question.

Under the menacing gazes of over a hundred bandits, Aunt Wang, hands on her hips, was about to speak with a cold smile when the bandit chief, sweating profusely from the pain, sharply interrupted her:

"Stop talking nonsense and tell Ye Wenxue to release me!"

Ye Wenxue: "? What are you dreaming about?"

The one being held hostage is clearly Baldy's mother, not her son!

With a large group of bandits eyeing them covetously, how could she possibly let them go?

Even setting aside her own sake, Ye Wenxue couldn't possibly let the chieftain go, just for the sake of Suiye carrying the frail and helpless Sanyuan on his back.

Aunt Wang reluctantly agreed, glancing contemptuously at the bald man: "If you don't want your mother to die, get on her now and kill Ye Wenxue!"

Upon hearing this, not only Ye Wenxue and her group, but also the bald man and his gang, even the village chief and the people who had taken the old woman hostage looked at Aunt Wang with cold eyes:

"What nonsense are you talking about? If you let the bald guy do it, the chieftain will be dead!"

Aunt Wang said matter-of-factly, "Ye Wenxue has always been ungrateful. Even if Baldy's mother took care of Sanyuan in the cave, Ye Wenxue will not be soft-hearted and save people. It would be better to let Baldy do everything he can to kill Ye Wenxue. Maybe that can save Big Brother!"

If Baldy had been able to seize the opportunity to kill Ye Wenxue before she could attack the chieftain, the entire bandit group wouldn't have been so wary of following him down the mountain!
