Chapter 68 It's Raining

Ye Wenxue only had a kitchen knife with her. No matter how skilled she was, she couldn't kill three tigers with one blow, so she could only try to escape.

After glancing around for a moment, Ye Wenxue activated her wood-type ability to search for the children buried underground who had not yet lost their vitality, while slowly retreating to the other side away from the children.

Da Zhuang realized that Ye Wenxue didn't want them to be in danger, and his already anxious heart became even more panicked, wishing he could jump down on the spot.

But he also knew that he hadn't practiced his skills for very long, and that if he jumped down, he wouldn't be able to distract his mother from the tiger; instead, he would only distract her.

All four children were extremely nervous, their eyes following Ye Wenxue's every move intently.

Dazhuang tried his best to calm down and kept scanning his surroundings to find a suitable high place to avoid the tiger.

However, there were few trees around the wild boar's den, and the few that did exist were all burned through; they would break if kicked, so no one would dare to climb them.

He racked his brains for a moment, then suddenly remembered the small bow that Ye Wenxue had brought back when she went down the mountain.

Seeing her mother nimbly dodge the tiger and leap onto a nearby rock, several tigers were eager to pounce on her. Dazhuang quickly stuffed Yuanyuan into Shuangshuang's arms, turned around, took out a small bow, and picked up a sharpened arrow: "Sanyuan, do you have any herbal juice with a paralyzing effect?"

Sanyuan watched as his mother cleaved the tiger that had leaped onto the rock with a single stroke, retreating as she fought. His heart clenched with worry. Hearing his elder brother's words, he quickly pulled out the herbs from his cloth bag, deftly crushed them, squeezed out the juice, and applied it to the wooden arrow.

"Big brother, that's enough!"

Da Zhuang took a few steps, squinted, nocked an arrow, and held his breath, waiting for the right moment.

Even the children, including Shuangshuang and Siwang, knew they couldn't disturb their eldest brother at this moment, so they covered their mouths and didn't make a sound, no matter how worried they were.

While counterattacking, Ye Wenxue noticed Dazhuang's movements. She quickly reacted and, while continuing to fight back, led the tiger back.

The three tigers grew impatient from being led around and leaped up from different directions, ready to pounce on Ye Wenxue.

She gripped the cleaver tightly, dodging to the side while stabbing a tiger in the abdomen, then slashing several times with her other hand, wounding another tiger that pounced close by.

However, in the short time it took her to retaliate, the third tiger on the left pounced. Ye Wenxue activated her wood-type ability to grow vines, buying herself a few seconds before taking out her pistol to kill the tiger.

An arrow shot from a short distance away, hitting the third tiger squarely in the eye.

The tigers were driven mad by pain, their ferocity rising, and they opened their blood-red mouths to launch a reluctant counterattack.

Ye Wenxue rolled away to dodge, her mind unusually calm. As she got up, she drew her gun and fired.

At the same time, Da Zhuang squinted and nocked another wooden arrow.

"Bang bang bang!" After three loud explosions, one tiger was blinded in both eyes and fell to the ground before it could dodge. The other two tigers were shot in their weak points and fled in terror with their wounds.

Ye Wenxue cautiously fired another shot at the fallen tiger, and only breathed a sigh of relief when she saw that it was completely still and the other two had also disappeared.

"Mother!" Siwang was the first to rush into Ye Wenxue's arms, holding her tightly and refusing to let go no matter who tried to pull him away.

Shuangshuang and Sanyuan followed closely behind, their hearts pounding.

Ye Wenxue patted the three children's heads, then smiled and looked at Dazhuang: "Good shot."

Dazhuang withdrew his gaze from Ye Wenxue's hand, the worry on his face dissipating. He considerately handed her a cloth to wipe her sweat: "Mother, you rest for a bit. I'll go check on the wild boar's den."

Ye Wenxue shook her head: "Let's not waste time, let's go together, so we can get back to the valley sooner."

"Um."

This time, Dazhuang carried the bow and walked at the front, Ye Wenxue was in the middle, and the younger ones followed at the back, so they could escape if anything went wrong.

Da Zhuang cautiously approached, kicked the severely burned wild boar, and was about to breathe a sigh of relief after finding nothing amiss.

Shuangshuang peeked out from behind Ye Wenxue and suddenly asked, "I heard panting. Could it be... there's a tiger too?"

"Huh? Really? I didn't hear that! Don't scare me!"

The three younger children's expressions froze, and they instinctively hid behind Ye Wenxue.

Ye Wenxue had already heard the faint whimpering sound and reassured the children, "Don't worry, it's not a tiger."

She stepped forward and forcefully flipped the fallen wild boar over, revealing two dark brown piglets hidden under its belly.

Siwang's eyes lit up, and he peeked out, "So small and cute! Mom, can we raise this little wild boar?"

With so many chickens, ducks, rabbits, and sheep at home, raising a couple more wild boars wouldn't be a problem.

Ye Wenxue nodded: "Then you can take care of them. Make sure they're healthy and plump."

Si Wang's expression changed: "Ah? I..."

Before he could continue, Dazhuang made the decision: "We'll raise them with Siwang. There's knowledge about raising pigs in the agricultural book that Dad left behind. You can learn to read with me first, and then raise wild boars according to what's written in the book."

Siwang, who didn't want to start learning and wanted to play for another two years, was completely arranged for him, leaving him no room to resist.

Before the two wild boars could react, Ye Wenxue grabbed their heads, tied them up by the neck, and put them into the basket.

She weighed the wild boar that had been burned to death in her hands for a few moments, and decided that it was not worth carrying the heavy load back to the valley. So she took a kitchen knife and cut off the two hind legs that had not been burned, and placed them heavily on the other side of the basket.

As for the wild boar babies that were burned to death, take the ones that are still edible, and leave the rest.

The trip had been quite fruitful, and Ye Wenxue, carrying baskets, happily led the children home.

As they approached the valley, Ye Wenxue stopped and had the children gather firewood.

Dazhuang called on Shuangshuang, Sanyuan, and Siwang to start their operation.

Ye Wenxue squatted down in a clean spot, holding Yuanyuan close to the whimpering wild boar, and stroked the boar's head with her little hand.
