Chapter 165 Teahouse Opening (Part 1)

Liang Shuyan got up early in the morning. The courtyard was bustling with activity as the workers gathered at the workshop, chattering about the opening.

Jin Dashan had prepared a string of firecrackers, which he had hung on a bamboo pole outside the door long ago, ready to be lit once Sanwang had cleaned the yard.

Because Dahei was afraid of firecrackers, Zhao Heng led it to the backyard. When the chickens and ducks in the backyard saw Dahei, they were so frightened that they flapped their wings wildly. Zhao Heng laughed and said, "You're not allowed to mess with the chickens and ducks, okay? Now I finally know what it means to be in chaos!"

Zhang and Liu sat on stools picking vegetables. These vegetables were all picked from the garden. Liu said with a smile, "Sister-in-law, I never thought we could grow these vegetables ourselves. Before, we always bought vegetables from town. It felt like vegetables were more valuable than meat."

"Yes, Mother said it would grow, and I didn't expect it to actually grow, and it's so tender."

Mr. Su led a group of children to the workshop entrance with the couplets they had written. Niu Niu carried a bowl of paste and placed it on a bench.

"Sir, is this alright? Or should I call my older brother for help?"

Mr. Su placed the couplet on the bench and said with a smile, "No need, sir, you'll put it up in a little while. It's no trouble at all. Why bother your elder brother? He's busy with Zhao Heng today."

Liang Shuyan got dressed, yawned, and came out of the house, only to bump into Grandma Jin: "What's wrong? Didn't you sleep well?"

"Mom, I overslept! The sun's already shining on my bottom! What's wrong?"

Grandma Jin, carrying a bamboo basket, said with a smile, "I'm giving these rotten vegetable leaves to the chickens and ducks. It would be a waste to throw them away. Look, these leaves are fresh."

Da Shan set up the tent in the yard, and Zhao Heng arranged the table and chairs inside. He was sweating profusely as he said, "Phew, it's finally done. I hope there won't be this many people at the opening?"

Zhang Shuyan glanced at it and nodded: "Not bad, Zhao Heng, you deserve praise. I'll make you your favorite steamed pork with rice flour later!"

Upon hearing this, Zhao Heng tilted his head and said, "Auntie, are you mistaken? My dad likes steamed pork with rice flour, but I like your braised pork slices!"

"Oh, whatever you like to eat, your auntie will make it for you."

Jin Dashan hesitated for a moment: "What surgery did Mother have? Why is she so concerned about Zhao Heng? I've never seen her care about Zhao Heng like this before?"

From the courtyard came a clear, righteous voice: "Grandma Dashan, is today the opening day of your teahouse? Everyone in the surrounding villages knows about it. When I first arrived, I even ran into people from Huai Shu Village!"

Liang Shuyan quickly came out and said, "Lizheng, you've arrived. Please come in and have a seat. Today is not only the opening of our teahouse, but also an important event for our third son: his engagement to Ruyan!"

Is the person from Huai Shu Village that Li Zheng mentioned Da Shan's aunt?

"I know that man from Huai Shu Village. He's Da Shan's uncle. He used to carry sacks in the town's granary!"

Liang Shuyan felt that Li Zheng hadn't finished speaking, but Li Zheng didn't say anything more. This Zhao Wei was not only lazy and gluttonous, but he also liked to freeload at one house after another. He also had a tendency to be abusive, ordering his wife around. A few years ago, when the Jin family wasn't doing well, he always tried to prevent his wife from coming to the Jin family. Every time his wife went back to her parents' home, she was beaten up. Later, gradually, Jin Daya stopped coming back.

Just then, Zhao Wei came in, carrying an old hen, which looked like the one that laid eggs. He handed the hen to Liang Shuyan with a grin: "Sister-in-law, look, the teahouse has opened, and you didn't even tell us. We only found out when we ran into Old Liu on the way. You really are something else."

A thought flashed through Liang Shuyan's mind. In her previous life, she hated men who committed domestic violence. In this life, seeing such a man made her very angry. But since he was a relative who had come to visit, she had no choice but to suppress her anger and said calmly, "There's nothing much going on. It's just the opening of the teahouse. We're setting off some firecrackers to make it lively and to arrange a marriage for the third brother. There's no need to go to so much trouble. By the way, why didn't my eldest sister come?"

"Hmph, what is your eldest sister doing here? She has a ton of things to do at home, and no one to look after her grandchildren. Where would she find the time to come?"

Upon hearing this, one could tell what kind of status Jin Daya held at home. Liang Shuyan said calmly, "Okay, brother-in-law, then come in and sit down. Once everyone is here, we'll serve the dishes."

Zhao Wei walked away laughing.

People from the village arrived one after another, some with eggs, some with chickens, in short, no one came empty-handed, and Jin Dashan greeted them with a smile.

Jin Erniu arrived with the martial arts school staff. He walked unsteadily as soon as he entered the door. When he saw Liang Shuyan, he looked embarrassed and said, "Mother, it's all my fault for making you unhappy. I can't even help you now. Please don't be angry, Mother."

"Alright, since you're here, you guys can sit in the tent and wait for the food to be served in a bit."

Jin Erniu glanced at Deputy General Xiao: "I can't help with anything in my current condition. You take these brothers and see if there's anything we can do to help. We can't just come here to eat."

Deputy General Xiao nodded: "That's for sure. Come on, I see there are a lot of unwashed dishes and chopsticks in the basin outside. How about I take the brothers to wash them?"

"You're a grown man, you can serve tea or wine, why are you washing dishes? That's women's business. Go, go, do as you please!"

In the kitchen, Zhang prepared the dishes according to Liang Shuyan's instructions and arranged them neatly on plates.

Ruyan, dressed in a bright red outfit, walked over and said with a smile, "Auntie, let me serve the food!"

Liang Shuyan waved her hand: "No need, I'll find someone to serve the dishes. You go to the next room and talk to your mother for a while. Don't do anything today, you'll have plenty to do later."

Yinxia was a diligent worker. She squatted down and picked out the dry leaves from the tea leaves one by one, placed them on the wooden table, and packaged them one by one.

Chunyan took the packaging bag and packaged the tea leaves that Yinxia had separated one by one. The process was very simple. She hummed a tune as she packaged the tea leaves and placed them in a wooden frame on the side.

Fatty sat to one side, neatly labeling the tea leaves that Chunyan had wrapped, with the words "Jin's Tea House" written on the labels. Next to him was a small notebook, where he counted the quantity and recorded it in the notebook.

Liang Shuyan entered the work shed and carefully checked its hygiene and the speed and quality of processing. Finally, she came to Chunyan's side, squatted down, picked up a packet of tea, carefully opened and examined it, smelled it, and said, "Is this a light flavor? Remember, it's the rose kind. It needs to be packaged separately, and the packaging bags are different. Be careful not to get them mixed up."

Chunyan nodded: "Okay, I understand, Auntie!"

Fatty hesitated for a moment and said, "Auntie, do you think this way of counting is okay? Do we need to categorize the items when counting?"

"What's wrong? Didn't your Uncle Liu tell you that this needs to be classified and registered?"
