“I…I saw him meet with a man in black with my own eyes.” The high priest’s voice trembled slightly. “That man in black exuded a chilling aura; he was clearly no good.”
Xiao Feng noticed that the high priest was constantly twisting the hem of his clothes with his fingers while speaking, and his eyes were also shifty.
He thought to himself that the old man must be terrified.
The high priest took a deep breath and continued, "I was discovered by them by accident, and ever since then, that man in black has been hunting me down."
At this point, a flicker of fear crossed the high priest's eyes. "I hid here and there, and it was only with great difficulty that I managed to shake him off. Since then, I have never dared to return to the Ming Cult."
Xiao Feng frowned slightly, a thoughtful glint in his eyes.
He pressed further, "Then why did you come back today?"
The high priest sighed helplessly, like a deflated balloon: "I really have nowhere else to go outside, and I have some important things in my room that I want to come back to get."
After listening, Xiao Feng fell into deep thought.
"High Priest, you must return to the Ming Cult. I have a way to bring Wu Hai back to normal."
Upon hearing this, the high priest's eyes widened instantly, and he asked urgently, "What method? Tell me quickly."
Xiao Feng smiled mysteriously and shook his head.
"I can't tell you the specific methods right now, just do as I say."
The high priest wanted to ask more questions, but Xiao Feng ignored him.
Xiao Feng secretly thought to himself that this old fellow was a coward, and he couldn't tell him the whole plan. He should let him go back and scout ahead first.
Thus, despite his unease, the High Priest followed Xiao Feng's instructions and brazenly swaggered into the Ming Cult's main gate.
As soon as he entered, a guard stopped him.
"High Priest, Lord Wu Hai wishes to see you." The guard's words struck the High Priest's heart like a heavy hammer.
The high priest feigned composure and followed the guards toward Wu Hai's residence.
His heart was pounding so hard it felt like it was going to jump out of his chest.
"Xiao Feng, oh Xiao Feng, please don't betray me..." the high priest prayed silently in his heart, unaware of what awaited him.
The high priest entered the room with trepidation and immediately saw Wu Hai sitting on the throne, his gaze piercing as if he wanted to burn him through.
Wu Hai was dressed in a magnificent robe, exuding an aura of inviolability.
The candlelight in the room cast shadows on his face, adding to his imposing presence.
The high priest was so frightened that he fell to his knees with a thud and kowtowed, saying, "Lord Wu Hai, I know I was wrong, please forgive me."
Wu Hai spoke coldly, his voice as icy as ice: "The day the Holy Maiden and the Blood Sect are getting married is just around the corner, where have you been?"
Hearing this, the high priest secretly breathed a sigh of relief and quickly raised his head, explaining with a smile, "Your Excellency, I left to handle some urgent matters. It was all very sudden, and I didn't have time to report. I promise that such a thing will never happen again."
Upon hearing this, Wu Hai's brows relaxed slightly, and his tone softened: "Hmph, you'd better keep your word."
His fingers tapped lightly on the armrest, as if he were thinking about something.
Seeing this, the high priest quickly added, "Rest assured, Your Excellency, I will do my best to serve the church."
Wu Hai nodded, then suddenly changed the subject: "The sect leader is about to emerge from seclusion, and we absolutely cannot allow anyone to disturb him. Go and take care of this for me."
The high priest quickly agreed, "Yes, sir. I will personally supervise and make sure everyone guards the leader well."
He secretly wondered what Wu Hai was really up to. Was the sect leader's emergence from seclusion not a good thing for him?
After leaving Wu Hai's room, the High Priest immediately found Xiao Feng and told him everything Wu Hai had said, even specifically mentioning the place where the sect leader was in seclusion.
Upon hearing this, a glint of light flashed in Xiao Feng's eyes.
As a time traveler, he keenly sensed something amiss.
“The sect leader is in seclusion, yet Wu Hai is so anxious... There must be something fishy going on.” He pondered for a moment, then said to the high priest, “I plan to go there.”
The high priest was greatly alarmed upon hearing this: "Young Master Xiao, the place is heavily guarded. Going there rashly would likely be extremely dangerous!"
Xiao Feng smiled confidently: "Don't worry, I have my own way."
When Xiao Feng arrived at the place where the leader was in seclusion, he found it to be heavily guarded.
Squads of guards dressed in black patrolled back and forth, each with a solemn expression and wary eyes scanning their surroundings.
Xiao Feng hid in the shadows, carefully observing the guards' patrol route.
He secretly calculated that getting in would be no easy feat. But in order to restore Wu Hai to normal and to rescue everyone, he had to find a way to break through these guards.
Xiao Feng crouched in the shadows, his eyes fixed on the patrol route guarded by layers of guards, secretly plotting in his mind.
“These guards are heavily guarded; it won’t be easy to sneak in silently.” Xiao Feng took a deep breath: “But in order to get Wu Hai back to normal and to rescue everyone, I have to find a way to break through these guards.”
He quietly picked up a stone, weighed it in his hand, and then threw it forcefully into the distance.
With a loud "bang," the sound of the stone hitting the ground was particularly loud in the quiet environment.
The guards instantly became alert, drawing their swords and scanning their surroundings with keen eyes.
"Something's up!" a guard whispered. "You lot, come with me to investigate!"
Several guards nodded quickly and ran lightly toward the direction from which the sound came.
Seeing this, Xiao Feng's lips curled up slightly: "The opportunity has arrived!"
Taking advantage of the moment the guards left, Xiao Feng flashed forward like a black lightning bolt, rushing towards the room where the sect leader was cultivating.
His movements were light and agile; his toes barely touched the ground, making almost no sound.
Arriving at the door, Xiao Feng held his breath and carefully pushed it open.
The door hinges made a slight creaking sound, and Xiao Feng's heart suddenly raced.
He quickly slipped into the room and then gently closed the door, the whole process completed in one smooth motion.
The room was filled with a rich sandalwood scent.
Xiao Feng's gaze quickly swept across the room, finally settling on the figure sitting cross-legged on the bed.
"Master!" Xiao Feng was startled.
The cult leader was surrounded by black demonic energy, which churned like black smoke and emitted a chilling aura.
There was a black mark on the cult leader's forehead. Xiao Feng's heart sank: "As expected, the cult leader has already fallen into demonic possession."
Xiao Feng clenched his fists and took a deep breath: "No matter what, I must find a way to save the leader!"
He cautiously took a step forward, preparing to observe the cult leader's condition further.
Just then, the cult leader suddenly opened his eyes, a red light flashed, and he stared straight at Xiao Feng.
