Xiao Feng felt a blur before his eyes, and countless black shadows attacked his original position like arrows.
Those dark figures were extremely fast; if Zhao Yuwei hadn't pulled them away in time, they probably would have been hit.
Zhao Yuwei quickly formed hand seals, and a golden light shot out from her palms.
The golden light, like a sharp sword, shattered the approaching shadows. The shadows turned into specks of ink and dissipated into the air.
However, the shadows multiplied, seemingly endless.
Xiao Feng and Zhao Yuwei fought and retreated until they finally saw a mountain villa in the distance.
"There!" Xiao Feng shouted, pointing to the manor. "Let's go inside and hide!"
The two struggled with all their might and finally rushed into the villa. Pushing open the heavy wooden door, they were greeted by a strong smell of dust. Clearly, the place had been uninhabited for many years, with cobwebs and dust everywhere.
Zhao Yuwei, panting heavily, cautiously surveyed her surroundings. Suddenly, her gaze was drawn to something on the ground. She bent down, picked it up, and examined it closely.
It was a token, entirely black. The most striking feature was the large character "明" (Ming) in the very center of the token.
"Xiao Feng, look!" Zhao Yuwei handed the token to Xiao Feng: "This is the Ming Cult's token!"
Xiao Feng took the token, his brows furrowed.
"Xiao Feng, look at this token!" Zhao Yuwei said urgently, "Isn't that your godfather's name engraved on it?"
Xiao Feng examined the token carefully and saw the words "Wu Hai" engraved on the back, exuding a sense of vicissitude.
His heart suddenly raced, and the image of his godfather flashed through his mind.
"This is impossible!" Xiao Feng said in a low voice, "The Ming Cult's token has always been regarded as something as important as life itself. My godfather would never have abandoned it here so easily. What exactly happened when he came to Wushan?"
A hint of worry flashed in Zhao Yuwei's eyes: "Could it be... that something bad has happened to him?"
Just then, a dazzling purple light suddenly burst forth from the distance, shooting straight into the sky.
Within the purple light, countless dark shadows seemed to be dancing, emitting chilling growls.
"Let's go! Let's go take a look!" Xiao Feng said decisively, and the two quickly ran towards the direction of the purple light.
As they drew closer, they saw three elderly men dressed in white floating in mid-air, exuding an air of otherworldly grace. Each of them formed complex hand seals, and a continuous stream of immortal power flowed toward the purple light.
Under the suppression of the immortal power, the purple light gradually dimmed, but the roar emanating from it grew increasingly violent.
"You damned immortal sects, you've imprisoned me for a thousand years! The day I break free, I will make you all pay with your lives!"
The three elderly men in white robes had solemn expressions, and fine beads of sweat appeared on their foreheads.
One of them suddenly coughed up a mouthful of blood and swayed precariously.
"Fifth Elder!" the other two exclaimed, quickly stepping forward to support him, placing their palms on his back, and attempting to channel their immortal energy to heal him.
"Seventh Elder, Eighth Elder, don't bother."
However, the injured old man's face was as pale as paper, and his immortal aura vanished without a trace, showing no improvement whatsoever.
"His injuries are too severe, and the immortal energy is completely ineffective unless someone can lock his spiritual power within his body. But we are both at our limit now and there is nothing we can do."
One of them sighed, his eyes filled with helplessness.
Xiao Feng and Zhao Yuwei, hiding in the shadows, witnessed this scene and were shocked.
Zhao Yuwei asked in a low voice, "Xiao Feng, what should we do? Should we offer our help?"
Xiao Feng pondered for a moment: "Let's observe the situation first and see what they are dealing with. The being in that purple light is definitely not a benevolent being."
Xiao Feng's eyes narrowed, and he swiftly leaped out from the shadows, his fingers flashing like lightning as he tapped the three white-robed elders several times.
His movements were fluid and graceful, each finger landing precisely on the acupoints, forcefully locking the three people's dissipating spiritual energy within their bodies.
"Huh?" The injured Fifth Elder opened his eyes slightly, then glared angrily: "Junior, who gave you permission to take action without authorization?"
Xiao Feng stopped and stood still, his expression calm.
"The three seniors are seriously injured, and I can only do my bit."
"Hmph!" The Eighth Elder sneered, "How dare you, mere juniors, act so presumptuously in Wushan? Who are you, and why are you trespassing here?"
Zhao Yuwei couldn't help but step forward: "You old fools, we kindly saved people, and instead of thanking us, you're putting on airs?"
"How dare you!" the Seventh Elder roared. "Little girl, how dare you be so rude! This sacred place of Wushan is not a place for mortals like you to come here."
Zhao Yuwei's face turned red with anger, and she clenched her fists.
"You people from the immortal sects, you all put on airs and are actually arrogant! We may be mortals, but we know how to save people from danger, unlike you, who only know how to put on airs!"
Xiao Feng pulled Zhao Yuwei back and said in a deep voice, "Seniors, we have come here to investigate some matters."
As he spoke, he took out a token from his pocket and displayed it to the three of them.
"This is..." The Fifth Elder's expression changed slightly when he saw the token, but he quickly regained his composure.
"Where did the token come from?"
Xiao Feng's gaze sharpened: "This is my godfather Wu Hai's token. He disappeared in Wushan, and I suspect it's related to the immortal sects. Seniors, do you know anything about this?"
The three old men in white exchanged a glance, their expressions shifting.
The Eighth Elder coughed lightly: "Junior, this matter has nothing to do with you. Leave Wushan immediately, or you will bear the consequences."
Xiao Feng frowned, his doubts growing.
"Seniors, if you know anything, please tell us."
The Seventh Elder waved his hand impatiently: "Young man, don't meddle in other people's business. How dare you interfere in the affairs of the immortal sect? Get out of here and stop getting in the way!"
Zhao Yuwei stomped her feet in anger: "You people are so unreasonable! We saved you, but you won't even tell us the truth. You're heartless!"
The Fifth Elder sneered, "Little girl, don't be so quick to judge. Our immortal sect knows its limits. If you don't leave, don't blame us for being impolite!"
"Three seniors," Xiao Feng's voice was urgent, "you saw my godfather Wu Hai in Wushan, didn't you? Why was he there? What exactly happened?"
The Fifth Elder frowned, his eyes flickering, seemingly unwilling to say more.
The Eighth Elder lowered his head, his fingers unconsciously rubbing his sleeves, appearing very hesitant.
Only the Seventh Elder sighed, looked up at Xiao Feng, and had a hint of helplessness in his eyes.
“Young friend Xiao,” the Seventh Elder said slowly, “Wu Hai did indeed come to Wushan, but this matter involves many things, and we cannot say more.”
"Can't say more?" Xiao Feng's voice suddenly rose, his fists clenched so tightly that his knuckles turned white: "My godfather's life or death is unknown, yet you are making excuses here? Three seniors, if you have even a shred of conscience, please tell me the truth!"
Upon hearing this, the Fifth Elder frowned even more deeply and hissed, "Insolence! How dare you, a junior, be so rude?"
