Chapter 259 Failure

Jiang Ming had been eavesdropping in the shadows. When the topic turned to him, his expression changed slightly, and his fierce gaze immediately fell on the person who was speaking.

That person may not have noticed, but as a man standing at the pinnacle of the world, Tian Lu's perception of danger was extremely sensitive. The moment that gaze fell upon him, he sensed something was wrong, and immediately looked over, his lips slowly curling up.

"interesting……"

The man beside him looked puzzled and asked, "Sir, are you saying I'm funny?"

The man's expression changed. It was the first time someone had used the word "interesting" to describe him, and he didn't know whether to be happy or angry.

For a moment, I felt a mix of emotions.

Tianlu ignored the man's ulterior motives, simply waved his hand to let the man leave first, and then pretended not to know anything, continuing to walk aimlessly as before.

Seeing that they had reached a desolate place, Jiang Ming seized the opportunity and suddenly appeared in front of Tian Lu.

"You've finally shown up."

Upon seeing Jiang Ming's appearance, Tian Lu breathed a huge sigh of relief.

Jiang Ming's expression changed slightly, and he instantly became alert. He looked around and asked, "Is there an ambush?"

Tianlu shook his head and said, "There was no ambush, but I have something to tell you."

"Tell me?" Jiang Ming scoffed. After looking around and confirming that there was no one else besides the two of them, he felt relieved. Then, he slowly drew his sharp longsword.

In the dim light, the longsword gleamed with an extreme coldness, and seemed to exude a deadly aura.

He drew his sword, pointed it at Tianlu, and sneered, "Since ancient times, good and evil have been irreconcilable. Besides, you have already killed so many of my dragon clan members. Do you think there is still a chance for us to negotiate?"

Upon seeing the longsword, Tian Lu showed no fear whatsoever, as if the rumors that he was afraid of the sword were false.

However, the aura around him surged slightly because of the appearance of the long sword, which was undeniable.

He glanced at the longsword, then his gaze slowly shifted to Jiang Ming's face. He said with an unprecedented clarity, "There's nothing between us, don't get me wrong. Besides, we are mortal enemies, and I will not back down."

Tian Lu first corrected Jiang Ming's unrealistic idea, then chuckled softly. In the latter's slightly surprised eyes, he grinned and said, "Also, now that you're here, you don't need to go back."

"Do you think you can keep me here?" Jiang Ming sneered, seemingly amused by Tian Lu's arrogant tone. You see, with this long sword in his hand, let alone little Tian Lu, even if the Demon Emperor himself came, he would probably be no match for him.

Of course, his reason for thinking this way was entirely based on the idea that this long sword could restrain Tianlu, but whether this was feasible was unknown.

That's what he thought anyway.

However, his subsequent actions soon proved how wrong he was.

Because when Tian Lü suddenly stepped forward, just as he took out his longsword to attack, Tian Lü simply flicked his fingers. Immediately, a dark current flickered, and then the spiritual light on the longsword dimmed.

With a loud bang, it shattered into pieces.

Jiang Ming froze, his eyes widening instantly. For a moment, he forgot how to react. Fortunately, he quickly calmed down, taking several steps back and looking at Tian Lu with disbelief, as if he were looking at a demon.

He swallowed hard and said, "You...you're not afraid..."

Seeing this, Tianlu scoffed and said, "What am I afraid of? Why should I be afraid..."

Then, as if he had thought of something, he said, "You think I'm afraid of this sword? You're too naive. I'm afraid of the person who wields the sword, and obviously, that person doesn't include you."

With each word he spoke, he would take a small step forward, while Jiang Ming would retreat until there was nowhere left to retreat, at which point he would have to force himself to muster his courage.

However, the violent heaving of his chest seemed to indicate that he was still very afraid.

"I……"

Jiang Ming wanted to speak, but Tian Lu didn't give him a chance. Her palm suddenly shot out, and then a monstrous black aura swept out, piercing through Jiang Ming's body in the blink of an eye.

Jiang Ming's life force was also rapidly draining away. After an unknown amount of time, when the last wisp of life force was gone, Jiang Ming was completely devoid of life.

"Hehehe..."

Upon seeing this, a strange laugh escaped Tian Lv's face.

...

"What! Jiang Ming's soul lamp is shattered! Didn't I give him an army of 200,000?"

Jiang Fengzi listened to the servant's report and was momentarily stunned. He could still vividly recall Jiang Ming's confident words and oaths, which had given him a glimpse of victory.

Unexpectedly, reality slapped him hard in the face, forcing him to face this even crueler reality alone and with clarity.

"Someone come here... never mind, let me be alone for a while."

At this moment, Jiang Fengzi spoke weakly and listlessly.

Despite his seemingly indifferent attitude towards Jiang Ming, there is no doubt that Jiang Ming is one of his right-hand men and his most capable subordinate. That's why he agreed without hesitation when Jiang Ming proposed to raise 200,000 troops.

But he never expected that Jiang Ming would perish so easily. For a moment, he found it hard to accept this terrible news.

"Reporting, clan chief, some outsiders wish to see you."

At that moment, the voices of servants rang out in the corridor.

Jiang Fengzi was about to speak when, as if remembering something, he immediately looked at his servant and asked, "Who is that person?"

The servant shook his head, somewhat bewildered, and said, "I have never seen him before."

"Appearance... never mind, I'll go see for myself."

Jiang Fengzi got up and went out. In the reception room, he saw an old man.

The old man's temples were already gray, and he had a receding hairline in the middle, with no hair at all. His skin was as withered as old tree bark, but he was vigorous and looked full of energy, which was quite rare.

"The old man looks somewhat familiar."

For a moment, Jiang Fengzi was unsure. He immediately leaned over and whispered something, then bowed respectfully. When he straightened up and looked at the old man, his eyes were filled with intense emotion.

He recognized the person in front of him.

Master of Daqian Pavilion, Jing Mu.
