Chapter 107 How can that brat be as good as Baoya?

Chapter 107 How can that brat be as good as Baoya?

The sun was shining brightly in the morning, shining through the waving branches of the old locust tree at the door, casting spots of morning light on the ground and the tables and benches under the tree.

He Chunxiu and Yun Sanlang tied up the ox cart, and together they lifted the four large wooden barrels filled with fresh soy milk and tofu pudding and moved them into the shop.

When the customers waiting at the door saw that Yunji Breakfast Shop was open, they all rushed in. The four tables in the shop were full, and the rest sat outside. Those who couldn't find a seat stood and waited.

Baoya didn't bother the guests waiting for their meal, but diligently went to the small firewood shed behind the shop and brought back a bunch of hay to feed the ox.

She stood beside the ox, watching it chew the hay bit by bit. She reached out her little hand and touched the ox's nose: "Eat the hay well and rest well, so that you can have the strength to pull us home at night."

She was talking to the ox alone, not knowing that an old woman was standing behind her.

The old woman watched her finish feeding the cow and then talk to it. She smiled and said, "Little girl, what are you talking to the old cow?"

Baoya heard a familiar voice, turned around, and saw the old lady who had come to support them during the opening ceremony.

Very surprised: "Mother-in-law, you're here! Are you coming for breakfast?"

"Yeah," the old woman nodded. "I haven't been feeling well these past few days and couldn't get up in the morning. I heard your family has started making sweet tofu pudding too? Come over and try it, Grandma."

"Okay! My sweet tofu pudding is delicious. Come and sit with me, mother-in-law!"

Hearing the old woman talking about sweet tofu pudding, Baoya immediately became cheerful. This sweet tofu pudding was what the old woman had told her about. Now that the old woman came to taste it, she was naturally very happy.

While she was feeding the cows, two groups of customers had already left the shop. Although there was still no seat left in the shop, there was an empty table outside.

Baoya pulled the old woman to sit on the stool and patted her hand: "Grandma, wait a moment, I'll go get you some sweet tofu pudding."

"Go ahead." The old woman nodded.

Baoya took small steps and ran into the shop.

After a while, a soft, white and tender little baby came out steadily, holding a bowl as big as a human face.

Baoya placed the sweet tofu pudding in front of the old woman and asked, "Grandma, would you like to try it?"

This bowl of sweet tofu pudding is very generous in portion. Most of it is drizzled with brown sugar sauce and filled with candied beans, raisins and taro balls.

"Wow, there are so many ingredients," the old woman said, smiling from ear to ear after taking a bite. "It's so delicious and sweet."

"Little girl, what are these purple balls?" she asked, pointing at the taro balls in the bowl. "They're soft and chewy, and quite springy."

"These are taro balls," Baoya said. "I made them. If you like it, eat more!"

"Hahaha, you can cook at such a young age? That's amazing."

"Because there are people to teach. If grandma wants to learn, Baoya can also teach her."

"I won't learn it. I'm old and my hands and feet aren't as nimble as before."

An old man and a young boy were talking intimately under the tree. After the old woman finished her sweet tofu pudding, she put the copper coin under the bowl as usual and then left trembling.

Baoya watched her staggering figure slowly disappear at the entrance of the alley. When she turned around, He Chunxiu, who had finished her busy work, was standing next to her.

"Mom, come here and sit down and rest for a while." Baoya stretched out her little hand and took He Chunxiu's big hand, and they sat together on the bench at the door.

He Chunxiu wiped the sweat from her forehead and said, "Your father is heating up the food. It's almost noon. After dinner, go to the back room and take a nap."

"We're stopping by to pick up your brother today, so we have to close late."

"Okay." Baoya nodded.

After a while, Yun Sanlang heated up the meal and brought it out. The family of three sat under a big tree and had lunch.

It’s the meat pie I brought with me this morning, eaten with soy milk.

Baoya ate three meat patties, drank a large bowl of soy milk, licked her lips, and Yun Sanlang brought her a bowl of sweet tofu pudding.

"Eat it, Baoya. I didn't bring many meat patties. If you don't have enough, Dad will make you some fried cakes later."

Baoya used her little hands to pinch the spoon and scooped up a large spoonful of sweet tofu pudding, slurping it into her mouth. She squinted her eyes in delight and said, "Daddy, I've had enough."

"Is that really enough?" Yun Sanlang was a little unconvinced. "Don't lie to me, Dad. Our family is well off now, so you can eat as much as you want!"

His mother had told him that Baoya was different from other children, that she had a big appetite and that she must not be left hungry. He remembered this.

Yesterday on the mountain, he saw Baoya moving such heavy trees and rocks with his own eyes, and he was even more convinced.

She is more energetic than a grown man, so she must eat more!

How could three meat patties be enough? I'd need three or five bowls of tofu pudding to barely fill my stomach!

Baoya looked at the three bowls of tofu pudding and a small bowl of fried cakes that her father piled in front of her, her eyes widened, and she burped slowly.

He Chunxiu smiled with her eyes curved: "Sanlang, that's enough. Even if Baoya can eat, she is still a child!"

"Hey, I'm just worried that she would be embarrassed to say it herself." Yun Sanlang scratched his head and smiled.

He Chunxiu reached out and flicked his head: "Baoya is our child, there is nothing to be embarrassed about with your own parents."

After all, they run a breakfast shop, so it becomes very quiet after noon.

After lunch, Baoya went to the back room and had a good sleep. When Yun Sanlang packed up the shop and prepared to close it, she went to the academy where Yun Chengfu studied with He Chunxiu.

This time, the two of them arrived at the academy just as Mr. Xiao Qi was finishing his class.

A group of students carrying book baskets poured out from the main entrance of the academy.

Chen Chengcai was the first one. He rushed out of the door and caught a glimpse of a small round figure at the door. When he looked closely, it turned out to be Baoya, the little girl!

Thinking of the loss he had suffered in the Yun family before, he gritted his teeth and rushed over there, wanting to bully the little kid.

But when he rushed to the front, he saw He Chunxiu standing behind Baoya with a sullen face.

"Hehe...Aunt He." Chen Chengcai felt guilty and stopped suddenly, staggering.

He Chunxiu didn't have a good impression of him. She snorted, picked up Baoya and walked around him.

Chen Chengcai was frustrated and a little annoyed, but he couldn't do anything about it. He stamped his feet, picked up his book basket and went to find a ox cart to sit on.

He Chunxiu stared at Chen Chengcai's back as he left unsteadily on the ox cart, her brows furrowed tightly.

Chen Chengcai, this kid, has been attending private school for a long time, but I don't know what he has learned.

Fortunately, it was not her son, otherwise, she would have pulled him down and thrown him to work in the fields.

He is lazy all day long and his family is so poor that he can't even afford to eat, yet he still pretends to be arrogant and rides in a ox cart. What's the point of learning this?

She was lost in thought when Baoya's silvery voice rang in her ears: "Mom! Big brother is out! And Mr. Xiao Qi!"

When she came to her senses, she saw Yun Chengfu standing at the gate of the academy. He politely said goodbye to Qi Mo and smiled happily.

Look at Chengfu, now he looks like a student.

If she has a son in the future, she will raise him in the same way as Yun Chengfu.

When she lowered her head and saw the well-behaved Baoya in her arms, He Chunxiu breathed a sigh of relief. Fortunately, she already had Baoya and didn't ask for another boy.

After all, which little brat wasn't noisy when he was little? How could he be better than her good boy?
