gradually,
A light autumn rain began to fall.
It was supposed to be raining, but the raindrops were so small they were negligible.
However, it added another layer of frost to the already cold dawn.
"Father, Mother, Xiaoran misses you so much..." Gu Xiaoran murmured softly, actually talking in her sleep.
He shrank back and leaned closer to Zhu Juan.
Zhu Juan was suddenly awakened.
Upon waking, she kept sneezing.
"Young master, you will see it soon."
Her voice was noticeably nasal.
Clearly, he caught a cold.
She touched her forehead.
It's so hot.
Zhu Juan's nose stung, and her eyes glistened.
She was feeling unwell and was in a very bad mood.
Feeling the light autumn rain, she dared not sleep any longer.
She glanced at Xuanming and Xuanying, who were fast asleep beside her, huddled together. Feeling sorry for them, she put their clothes back in their places.
"Mommy, I'm so cold." Gu Xiaoran started crying in her sleep.
Zhu Juan held him on her lap, touched his forehead, and felt it was slightly warm.
fine,
When I touched his little hand again, it felt cool.
She held Gu Xiaoran's small hand and put it in her arms to keep him warm.
She was afraid that her young master would catch a cold, so she held him tightly all night.
Unexpectedly, his body could not escape the invasion of wind and cold.
Lightning quickly got up, shifted his icy body, took a few steps, and leaned against Gu Xiaoran.
Upon hearing Gu Xiaoran humming softly, Xuanming sat up abruptly.
Looking at Zhu Juan again, I noticed she was swaying and her breathing sounded off. I asked her in a low voice...
"What's wrong? Are you cold?" His voice was nasal.
Zhu Juan nodded. It was cold. It was only autumn, but she already felt the biting cold.
Xuanming shrank back, wrapping his outer garment around Zhu Juan and Gu Xiaoran again.
He silently took out the tinderbox in his hand, wanting to relight it, but it was a bit difficult because the dry branches were too damp.
It's true, when it rains, it pours; when the boat is late, it gets caught in a headwind.
No, their current circumstances are not like that.
They didn't even have a dilapidated hut.
Gu Xiaoran opened her eyes after another series of whimpers.
Upon waking, the first thing he did was check on his beloved dog.
He breathed a sigh of relief when he realized that Lightning was lying quietly beside him, and snuggled tightly into Zhu Juan's arms.
"Aunt Zhu, you're burning up." Gu Xiaoran shifted her body and hugged Zhu Juan even tighter.
Finding herself suddenly in a cold body, Gu Xiaoran groaned and shook her head, saying:
"Uncle Xuanying, I want Aunt Zhu to hold me." Tears welled up in the corners of his eyes, clearly from the cold.
"Aunt Zhu, hug me." Zhu Juan shifted her body, trying to get up, but then felt a wave of dizziness.
Tears streamed down her face as she longed for these days to end soon.
“Young master, Aunt Zhu is not feeling well, so please let me carry you.”
As Xuan Ying spoke, he wrapped Gu Xiaoran inside his outer garment.
He comforted Zhu Juan, saying, "It's alright, these days will be over soon."
"Soon, we'll be back soon," Xuanming said as he lit the fire.
"Aunt Zhu, are you sick?" Gu Xiaoran gently wiped away the tears from Zhu Juan's eyes.
"Don't cry, Aunt Zhu. You're just sick. You'll get better with rest." Aunt Zhu was already sick, and he couldn't keep relying on her.
Xuanming lit a fire, and Xuanying carried Gu Xiaoran as they searched for food to fill their stomachs. Before they knew it, the sky was beginning to brighten.
