Vera listened attentively as Qiu Yan asked her question.
What kind of companion could she care about so much?
Qiu Yan assumed that the surrounding diners would pay attention to them because they were from Central China and India, but that wasn't the case.
Because here, merchants come and go without noticing, and occasionally they might see some strange people, but these people aren't curious.
Because it's already become commonplace.
The man spoke first, replying, "Not recently, but I think there were quite a few before. It must have been last year or the year before, I can't quite remember."
The man had a big smile on his face and was very enthusiastic.
Without thinking, Qiu Yan blurted out, "Last year."
"Oh right, right, it was last year. A lot of men from the Central Plains, it seems, came here to settle down."
The man nodded. With so many men from the Central Plains, it would be hard for them not to remember them.
As he spoke, he glanced at Vera beside him.
He thought to himself, "Today is truly a strange day. Not only have I seen a woman from the Central Plains, but I have also seen a foreign mage."
What's even stranger is that these two women from the Central Plains were sitting with three women from the Lu State whose races were unknown.
He considered Ap, Singh, and Tam to be people from the Kingdom of Lushi.
He has face blindness; he can't distinguish people from any other country except those from the Central Plains.
Qiu Yan's heart suddenly felt lighter.
After a long and arduous journey, we finally have some progress.
However, "Settling down? They're not planning to leave?"
But Qiu Yan couldn't help but feel a little strange when she heard the word "settled down".
"Yes, they built many thatched huts in the desert area east of Lushi, and they were busy every day, but I don't know what they were doing. At first, the King of Lushi thought they were going to invade, so he sent people to guard the city gates strictly and not allow them to enter the city. Fortunately, those people did not intend to enter the city."
The man then launched into another explanation.
Qiu Yan: "Rock desert?"
“Yes, think about it, they’re quite pitiful too,” the woman said.
Qiu Yan: "Pity?"
“If Western Qin hadn’t been defeated, they wouldn’t have been able to escape to this place.” That’s right, the woman mistook them for Western Qin soldiers who had fled abroad, which is why she thought they had settled down.
Qin Susu listened intently, occasionally interjecting with a question: "Are you also from Western Qin?"
"Yes, my husband was originally a soldier in Western Qin, but because of that war..."
As the woman spoke, her gaze lowered, and her eyes dimmed.
Qiu Yan followed her gaze downwards and was suddenly startled.
"You..." Qin Susu was startled because the man opposite her only had one leg.
"Hey, that's all in the past, what are you doing?" The man squeezed the woman's fingers.
"I'm doing just fine."
"You're still talking? I almost lost my life." The woman sniffed, her eyes slightly moist.
She became so sentimental after meeting the girl from the Central Plains.
"Ladies, are you also citizens of Western Qin?"
“We are from Dongjin,” Qiu Yan said truthfully.
"Dongjin? That's so far. Are you here to do business?" the woman asked.
That's right, Dongjin is thousands of miles away from them.
"Yes, we're here to do business," Qiu Yan affirmed.
The woman thought about Qiu Yan's initial questions and guessed:
"I bet you've gotten separated from your husbands."
"No, just a companion," Qiu Yan corrected.
Qin Susu shook her head repeatedly, finding it somewhat amusing that Apu and the other two were listening to their conversation for no apparent reason.
“You can’t understand it, yet you listen so attentively.”
She laughed, and Ap laughed along with her.
