"He Jinran!" He Lin's face darkened instantly. What did he say about this child? A fool?
He tried to climb back onto the small boat along the edge, but Qiu Yan kicked him off again.
Helpless, he had no choice but to board his other small boat.
He turned his gaze away from Qiu Yan and looked at He Jinran.
No, it's Gu Xiaoran.
"Gu Qian! When did you kidnap my child?"
Looking at Gu Xiaoran again, the child's face was covered with baby fat.
However, she looks much cuter this way than when she was a little crybaby.
Gu Qian looked at He Lin seriously, his gaze indifferent: "This child is clearly mine. Look at his eyes, they are exactly the same as mine, how did he become yours?"
After hearing this, Qiu Yan took a special look at Gu Xiaoran's eyes.
It really does look alike.
"Nonsense!" He Lin said with a stern face, staring intently at Gu Xiaoran. "Jin'er, I am your father... Father. It's only been a little over a year since we last met. How can you not recognize your father?"
“You’re not my father.” Gu Xiaoran shook her head vigorously, her little face scrunched up, and tears welled up in the corners of her eyes.
He burst into tears, saying between sobs, "My name is Gu Xiaoran, and I am Gu Qian's son."
With his father around, he became much bolder.
Gu Qian nodded immediately, "Yes, you are my son."
"Gu Xiaoran?" He Lin looked at Gu Qian with displeasure. This Gu Qian had actually changed his son's name. "Gu Qian, you know perfectly well how important Jin'er is to me, yet you've taken him away."
He Lin felt increasingly depressed because his son was not close to him.
It's because he's too busy with other things and doesn't have time to take good care of her.
"His name is Gu Xiaoran, and he is my son, Gu Qian!" Gu Qian's tone was firm, and anyone who heard him would agree that what he said was true.
Thinking of certain unpleasant things, his gaze towards He Lin became more angry.
Hearing Gu Qian's explanation, He Lin was naturally displeased. He said sternly, "Give me back my child!"
Undeterred by He Lin's words, Gu Qian said solemnly, "Your child died in the freezing cold two years ago."
Qiu Yan listened quietly to their conversation, her prejudice against He Lin deepening and her worries growing.
She was afraid that Gu Xiaoran would be taken away by her biological father.
Having raised them for so long, she and Gu Xiaoran had long since developed feelings for each other.
On the cruise ship, Qiu Dayu's voice reached my ears.
"Xiaoyan, Gu Qian, it's time to go home."
Qiu Yan waved to them, "Okay." Then, she looked at Gu Qian, "Gu Qian, let's go home."
"Okay, let's go home." Gu Qian also heard Qiu Dayu's words earlier.
He handed Gu Xiaoran to Qiu Yan, picked up the oar, and began to row quickly toward the shore.
The cruise ship docked, and Gu Qian exchanged pleasantries with his aunt and others for a while before dispersing to go home.
On the way home, Gu Qian ignored the shadows behind him, carrying Gu Xiaoran in one arm and holding Qiu Yansu's hand in the other, moving at a leisurely pace.
As soon as they arrived home, they saw Song Jiao standing alone in the courtyard, gazing at the moon.
Unlike before, the courtyard was now filled with colorful lanterns.
Song Jiao looked at everyone, her previous sorrow gone: "Miss, you're back so early."
Qiu Dayu glanced at the sky. "Is it early?" Then, he looked at the courtyard full of lanterns. "Did you hang all of these?"
Song Jiao smiled faintly and replied, "Yes, exorcising demons and praying for light."
"Mom, I want to eat glutinous rice balls." Gu Xiaoran quickly got off Gu Qian and ran to the kitchen.
