Chapter 486 First Visit

As they were talking, they arrived at Baiyang.

Gu Qian planned to pick up Gu Xiaoran and return to the village together, but the courtyard gate was locked and there was no sign of Xiaoran.

Qiu Yan asked Qiu Ling'er, who was diligently reading with Old Master Mu in the next courtyard, and learned that Xiao Ran and Zhu Juan had been taken back to the village by Uncle Li.

Seeing that her sister and brother-in-law had arrived, Qiu Ling'er pleaded with Elder Mu:

"Sir, may I go back to the village with my sister?"

Old Mu waved his hand, "Go on, go on."

After saying that, he asked Qiu Yan, "Qiu Yan, my old stomachache has flared up again recently. Could you prescribe some medicine for me?"

Old Mu had suffered from a chronic stomach ailment for decades, and it had never improved. In recent months, however, the medicine prescribed by Qiu Yan had provided him with some relief.

Because of the previous misdiagnosis by an incompetent doctor, he developed a prejudice against Dr. Bai, and consequently, became dependent on Qiu Yan.

"Okay." Qiu Yan stepped forward, took Old Master Mu's pulse, and began to write down the prescription.

"Grandpa Mu, Wangyoutang has just released a new stomach-soothing pill."

"Okay, I'll buy some when I get my medicine later."

As people age, it's inevitable that they will experience physical discomfort. Because Master Mu once taught Qiu Xu and is now teaching Qiu Ling'er to read and write, Wangyoutang takes extra care of him, buying medicine at cost price.

When Qiu Ling'er heard that Old Master Mu's old stomach ache had flared up again, she didn't forget to gently massage his abdomen.

Seeing that Old Master Mu lived alone in the courtyard, she felt a little sorry for him.

"Sir, why don't you come back to the village with me?"

Old Master Mu waved his hand, "No, no, I'm not going."

He's too old to cause trouble for others.

Qiu Ling'er couldn't persuade Old Master Mu, so before leaving, she gave him the painting that Zhou Zifang had given her, saying, "Grandpa Mu, let it keep you company while I'm gone."

This painting was her favorite, so she gave it to Old Master Mu.

Old Master Mu took the scroll, unfolded it, and looked at it. "Who painted this? It would be quite pleasing to hang in the study."

Qiu Ling'er knew that Elder Mu disliked Zhou Zifang, so she smiled but didn't answer. "I'm glad you like him."

After leaving Baiyang, Qiu Yan and the other two returned to the village first.

On the way, Qiu Ling'er sat in front of Qiu Yan, riding a horse with her sister for the first time, and she was overjoyed.

Back in the village, Gu Xiaoran was already asleep.

The other carriages traveled at a leisurely pace, setting off in the morning and arriving at Lingnan Village at night.

Several horse-drawn carriages drove in one after another, appearing somewhat out of place in this impoverished mountain village.

Gu Qian and Qiu Yan stood at the courtyard gate to welcome the guests from afar.

Accompanied by Qiu Dafu, the three members of the Jiang family alighted from the carriage.

The two elderly people felt dizzy and lightheaded after the long car ride.

Especially Jiang's father, who almost fell after taking only a few steps.

Qiu Dafu stepped forward and helped him up.

"Uncle Jiang, please go home and rest for a while. I have prepared the latest Pu'er tea for you."

Normally, Qiu Dafu could remain calm and composed even when faced with the most serious problems, but at this moment, he was filled with anxiety.

Jiang's father forced a smile. At this moment, he hated Tang Yi even more, so much so that his teeth itched with hatred.

He nodded and said, "Yes." Then, he clasped his hands in greeting to Gu Qian.

He had just bowed when he felt nauseous and clutched his stomach.

Then, supported by Qiu Dafu, he staggered towards the stream ahead, climbed onto a willow tree, and began to vomit.

Jiang's mother sighed, looking at her husband, and whispered to Jiang Liu beside her, "Your father has always been prone to motion sickness in carriages. Today, he's going to suffer a lot."

Seeing her father like this, Jiang Liu looked worried and said, "Let Father rest well."

Then, accompanied by Qiu Dafu, Jiang's father went to the main house and lay down to rest.

Gu Qian smiled as he looked at Qiu Dafu. His second uncle was different today than usual.
