Chapter 295 New Year's Greetings

Jiang Liu loves red the most, and on the first day of the Lunar New Year, she was dressed in red as well.

Qiu Yan dislikes bright red and purple, and prefers to wear light-colored clothes.

The dress was a cool blue-green color, with a light blue belt, giving it a simple and elegant look.

As for the other men in the family, they were all dressed in simple, solid-colored clothes, just like usual.

On the first day of the Lunar New Year, it's customary to exchange New Year's greetings.

Qiu Yan first took her younger brother and sister-in-law to visit Old Man Zhao.

When she went, she brought her great-grandfather a lot of nourishing foods.

Perhaps because of the Chinese New Year, Old Zhao looked much more energetic than he had been the previous two days.

Upon seeing Qiu Yan, he smiled kindly.

“Girl, while you were in Baiyang, your great-grandfather took care of the medicinal herb fields for you.”

Qiu Yan smiled faintly; this time, her great-grandfather had finally recognized her again.

"Thank you for taking care of me, Great-Grandpa."

Inevitably, Old Zhao started clamoring for the minced meat soup that Qiu Yan had personally made.

Qiu Yan readily agreed and said she would bring him lunch today.

Mr. and Mrs. Zhao Qiufeng went out to pay New Year's visits early in the morning and were not at home.

After Qiu Yan met with Liu Shi and Zhao Yougui, she couldn't help but say some auspicious words.

"Xiao Yan, my son Qiu Feng's leg injury was healed thanks to you." Liu said, expressing her boundless gratitude to Qiu Yan when talking about her son.

Qiu Yan: "Grandma Liu, it's nothing."

"Baiyang, you know him well, could you find Qiufeng some work?" Everyone in the village knew that Zhao Yuanyuan had made a lot of money through Qiu Yan's connections.

Therefore, Liu also wanted to ask Qiu Yan to find work for her son to support his family.

The son's recovery from injury took a long time, and the family was struggling to make ends meet.

Zhao Qiufeng is an honest and upright person, and Qiu Yan will help him with this small favor if she can.

She thought for a moment, and was just about to suggest that Zhao Qiufeng go with her second uncle to build the house, when she saw Old Man Zhao walking over, leaning on his cane.

"Girl, how about letting Qiufeng help you manage the medicinal herb field?"

Managing the medicinal herb fields? Her medicinal herb fields certainly require dedicated management.

Qiu Yan nodded: "If Uncle Qiufeng is willing, I have no objection."

“Excellent, excellent.” Mrs. Liu was more than willing.

After exchanging pleasantries with Liu, Qiu Yan put down her things and went to the village chief's house with her younger brother and sister.

Before leaving, Liu gave Qiu Xu and Qiu Ling'er some New Year's money each.

Although each person only had ten copper coins, that was the most their family could afford.

More or less, it all reflects Liu's goodwill.

At the village chief's house, many of the younger generation had already come to pay their respects for the New Year.

When Zhao Shan and Wang Shi saw Qiu Yan and her two siblings arrive, they were delighted and began to warmly welcome them.

However, Zhao Yuanyuan's eyes were red, as if she hadn't slept well or had been crying.

Zhao Jun brewed tea for the three of them, and Zhao Yuanyuan brought some nuts and placed them in front of them.

Wang held some maltose in her hand and put it into the pockets of the brother and sister.

"Ling'er, your clothes are so beautiful. Look at the fabric, it must be made of silk."

Hearing someone praise her, Qiu Ling'er smiled sweetly. "It was a gift from Sister Jiang."

She didn't care what the fabric of the clothes was; what she liked was the person who gave them to her.

Qiu Yan did not accept the offer, and instead bid farewell to her younger siblings and left.

Before leaving, she turned her back to Zhao Yuanyuan's family and couldn't help but ask Zhao Yuanyuan, "Yuanyuan, what's wrong? It's the first day of the Lunar New Year, don't cry."

Upon Qiu Yan's question, Zhao Yuanyuan felt wronged, and her eyes reddened even more.

Qiu Yan asked, puzzled, "Did your uncle bully you?"

Upon hearing Qiu Dayu's name, Zhao Yuanyuan couldn't help but shed tears. "No."

Qiu Yanzhen wasn't good at comforting others. "So what happened? Don't keep it to yourself. If someone bullies you, let your uncle stand up for you."
