Chapter 514 Departure

After explaining everything, Qiu Yan felt relieved and prepared to set off to visit Shangjin City.

Accompanying them were Ling Qi, Ling Ba, and Bai Lu, as well as Qiu Yumei.

Qiu Yumei followed along, intending to go to Huaiyuan together, as it was conveniently on the way.

To make it easier for her aunt to travel, Qiu Yan bought her a separate carriage.

Zhou Shao had been waiting for a long time.

They traveled together, but with a carriage, deviations were inevitable.

Qiu Yan then suggested that they meet at Shangjin Xingyuelou.

With Zhou Shao gone, Zhou Zifang could finally get a good night's sleep.

This was the first time Qiu Yan had traveled such a long distance since she transmigrated, and she was filled with curiosity about what lay ahead.

On the first day of her journey, she traveled by car and horse at different times.

Ling Qi and Ling Ba were very excited about going to Shangjin.

For her, it didn't matter much where she went during the White Dew season.

She neither laughs nor cries, only gets angry, but only when she sees Ling Qi.

If Qiu Yan said go east, she would go east; if she said go west, she would go west. She was like a puppet.

Because they set off early today, Qiu Yan and the others had lunch in Huaiyuan just after noon when they passed by.

In Huaiyuan, everything was normal under the care of Chuntao and the other three, and there were no troublemakers.

Everyone knows that Qiu Yumei is the owner of Huaiyuan Wonton Shop, but no one knows that the person behind her is Qiu Yan.

This reassured Qiu Yan.

She was careful at the time, fearing that someone might try to harm her or Gu Qian and implicate the shop.

Qiu Yan gave her aunt some instructions, telling her to seek help from her second uncle if she encountered any problems, and then set off.

Qiu Yan knew that her second uncle spent more time in Huaiyuan.

Inside the carriage, Gu Qian said gently, "Yan Yan, when you go to Shangjin, don't be reckless."

He still didn't want Qiu Yan to go to Shangjin City to make her way in the world; staying in this ordinary county was just as good.

The longer he spent away from home, the more he longed for rural life.

“I know, she’s not a three-year-old.”

Qiu Yan went to take a look around. If there was no business to be done, she could simply go back.

As night fell, they chose a nearby inn in the prefectural city to have their meal and rest.

Upon arriving at an inn, Ling Qi went up to the waiter and asked for four superior rooms.

The waiter, suddenly struck by a big order, replied with a smile, "Alright, everyone, please follow me to the second floor."

After the rooms were arranged, Gu Qian had dinner with Qiu Yan in her room.

After dinner, Qiu Yan, who had been busy all day, riding horses and taking cars, was feeling a bit tired.

"Gu Qian, go to sleep."

Gu Qianlai sat on Qiu Yan's bed, really not wanting to leave.

"Yan Yan, let's sleep together. I promise, it's just sleeping."

"No, I'm a restless sleeper," Qiu Yan refused.

Gu Qian smiled faintly as he recalled the time Qiu Yan kicked him off the bed. "I'm not afraid."

"You're not afraid, but I am." Qiu Yan said, then pushed Gu Qian out of the room and closed the door behind her.

Gu Qian stood in front of Qiu Yan's door, looking embarrassed, and sighed. "Yan Yan, call me if you need anything."

He was certain that he simply wanted to protect Qiu Yan.

Unexpectedly, just as he was being pushed out, he heard Ling Qi's barely suppressed laughter beside him.

Seeing Gu Qian's gentle gaze turn fierce, Ling Qi's smile froze on her face. "General...General."

It was quite amusing to see the general being turned away at the door.

"Ling Qi, since you're not sleepy, go outside and keep watch!"

"Tired!" Ling Qi coughed dryly and yawned. "This subordinate takes his leave!"
