"Can I eat this?" He looked at the scorpion with a suspicious gaze, trying to ignore the stinging pain in his fingertips, but the pain was still unbearable.
He crouched down and began to observe the scorpion.
They could be seen running back and forth among the uneven sand and stones, in an endless stream.
He stared at it for a long time, then stopped touching it, remaining constantly vigilant to avoid being stung by the scorpion's stinger again.
After Xuanming lit the firewood, Zhu Juan held Gu Xiaoran and sat down by the fire. Lightning quietly followed and leaned against Gu Xiaoran's legs.
The warm flames illuminated a grove of poplar trees, and the master and his servants were no longer so cold.
Xuanming kept adding firewood, trying to make the flames burn bigger.
He glanced at the curiously observing Xuan Ying.
"Xuanying, what are you doing?"
"Come here," Xuan Ying called to Xuan Ming instead.
"What's wrong?" Xuanming added some fuel to the fire. Starting the fire had taken a toll on his energy, and he just wanted to sit down and rest, not move.
Xuan Ying: "There's food."
"Food?" Xuanming instantly regained his strength, quickly stood up, grabbed a torch, and walked towards Xuanying.
Zhu Juan and Gu Xiaoran's faces lit up when they heard the word "food."
Gu Xiaoran, in particular, got off Zhu Juan and slowly followed behind Xuan Ming, wanting to see what food Xuan Ying had found.
He wanted to jog, but at this moment, even walking was a bit of a struggle for him.
"Young master, please slow down." Zhu Juan and Shan Dian followed closely on either side, not forgetting to hold Gu Xiaoran's small hand.
Xuanming approached and took a look.
He gasped and stumbled backward.
"You can eat this? Aren't you afraid of getting poisoned?"
Zhu Juan glanced at it once, let out a scream, and shrank back in fright.
Oh my god, that's terrifying!
Even if she could eat it, would she... dare to eat it?
“You can eat it.” A child’s voice rang out. Gu Xiaoran squatted down, looked at the scorpions crawling back and forth, and nodded. “I’ve eaten this before.”
Gu Xiaoran was about to touch it when Xuan Ying waved her hand to stop her, "Be careful!"
Gu Xiaoran withdrew his hand. Of course he knew that this thing could sting.
"Have you eaten it?" Seeing Gu Xiaoran's confident answer, Zhu Juan and the other two asked at the same time.
"Yes." Gu Xiaoran nodded affirmatively.
"My mother's fried scorpions are so delicious." He swallowed hard, savoring the taste.
"How can Miss Qiu eat anything?" Xuanming was truly impressed. Most women would have reacted like Zhu Juan.
"We'll have roasted scorpions tonight." Xuan Ying felt confident and began to catch the scorpions.
The question then becomes: how do we store the captured data?
After thinking for a moment, he found a thin twig on the tree branch, wiped it clean, and strung the scorpions together, making sure to break off their stingers as well.
Xuan Ying helped out.
Zhu Juan trembled and pulled Gu Xiaoran away to a great distance.
However, Gu Xiaoran was so hungry that she insisted on catching the scorpions herself.
At first, Xuanming and Xuanying were worried that Gu Xiaoran would be stung by the scorpion, so they stayed by her side to assist her.
Seeing that Gu Xiaoran caught scorpions with even greater skill than they did, and without getting hurt at all,
They secretly investigated and found that they were no better than a child at catching scorpions.
Lightning followed Gu Xiaoran closely, seemingly wanting to help, but unable to do so, it just kept digging in the sand.
Zhu Juan returned to the fireside to add dry branches.
Soon, the dry branches began to creak and crackle, and started to burn fiercely.
At this point, the two men began to grill the skewered scorpions over a fire.
There were already more than a dozen strings of poisonous scorpions strung up beside them.
