Qiu Yan forcefully pushed the little head back into the house. "Your father will be fine."
Just by looking at their moves, Qiu Yan knew that He Lin was no match for Gu Qian.
Somewhere outside the courtyard, Lightning heard its young master calling, its ears twitched slightly, then it turned around abruptly, rushed into the courtyard, bypassed Gu Qian and He Lin, and came to the small window, wagging its tail at Gu Xiaoran.
Gu Xiaoran clung to the windowsill, shouting, "Lightning, quick, chase that person away!"
Just as he was about to jump out of the window, Qiu Yan pressed him down to the bottom of the window again.
Lightning followed Gu Xiaoran's gaze and looked at He Lin.
Gu Qian paused slightly, and just as he turned around, he heard Lightning Bark.
Its eyes gleamed with ferocity, its fangs bared, and then it suddenly lunged at He Lin.
He Lin stepped back, his eyes filled with fear as he looked at the dog in front of him. "Zhan Yue!"
Whoosh—Zhan Yue appeared, directly blocking He Lin's path.
Others might not know, but Zhan Yue did: their master's biggest flaw was that he was afraid of dogs.
He wouldn't dare mess with a person, but Zhan Yue didn't take this dog seriously.
He drew his longsword and thrust the entire blade forcefully towards Lightning's vitals.
Gu Qian intervened and helped, dashing forward in a flash to dodge Zhan Yue's attack.
"Lightning..." Upon seeing this, Gu Xiaoran jumped out of the window.
Qiu Yan caught Gu Xiaoran and held his arm tightly.
Lightning, fearless once again, pounced on He Lin, knocking him to the ground. Drooling from his mouth hung from his lips, making He Lin feel utterly disgusted.
He Lin's face turned pale instantly, and he broke out in a cold sweat.
"Zhan Yue, kill it!"
"No!" Gu Xiaoran shouted.
Gu Qian moved swiftly, and seeing that the lightning was threatening He Lin's safety, he took action and forcefully pushed the lightning aside.
Lightning bent sideways and crashed to the ground.
Before He Lin could get up, it pounced forward with lightning speed, trying to climb on top of him again.
But at that very moment, with a soft "pfft" sound...
The blade slid along Lightning's back towards its hind legs.
Zhan Yue brandished her knife, intending to stab again, but Gu Qian grabbed her wrist.
Lightning flashed mournfully. He got up and took two steps, but due to the excruciating pain in his back, he whimpered twice and collapsed into a pool of blood, closing his eyes.
“Lightning…” Gu Xiaoran ran over and burst into tears when she saw the injured dog.
At the same moment, Qiu Yan squatted down beside Lightning to check its injuries.
Zhan Yue acted too quickly, and she didn't have time to stop her.
Lightning's back wound was too severe, and Zhan Yue had his left leg bone severed by Zhan Yue's long sword.
Gu Qian stood beside Gu Xiaoran and, seeing him crying so sadly, couldn't help but comfort him, "Xiaoran, don't cry, Lightning will be alright."
The fear on He Lin's face had not diminished.
In the child's eyes, he was not even as good as his beloved dog.
Gu Xiaoran stood up, glared fiercely at Zhan Yue, and punched his body hard with her small fist.
Even though Gu Xiaoran put all his strength into it, his chubby little fists didn't feel a thing when they hit Zhan Yue.
Zhan Yue crouched down, staring coldly at the lightning on the ground. "Young Master, it almost hurt someone just now. It deserves to die!"
Hearing what Lightning said, Gu Xiaoran cried even louder.
"I don't want it to die, you stay with my lightning." After saying this, he stopped moving and came back to the side of the lightning.
He Lin's expression was exceptionally unpleasant.
He turned and silently left the courtyard.
Seeing this, Zhan Yue followed behind.
"Stop!" Gu Xiaoran called out to the two of them.
He looked at Zhan Yue.
"You hurt my lightning, and you just leave like that?"
Gu Qian thought to himself, "No wonder she's Qiu Yan's child. Xiao Ran's unwillingness to suffer losses is exactly the same as hers."
He Lin turned around and looked at the lightning. "It deserves to die!"
