Chapter 21: The villain is found

"Huan'er, is that my mother? She must have said something threatening to you! She was the one who told you to stop bothering me, right?"

Xue Huan's mouth twitched. "Brother, why don't you believe what I say? You're still making up all sorts of nonsense. Do you think you're the male lead in a tragic love drama?"

You want to be the male lead, but I don’t want to be the female lead yet.

She didn't want to argue with him anymore, lest it cause more misunderstandings. "No, I don't have any feelings for you anymore. The marriage has been cancelled, and you shouldn't come to me again in the future."

She turned and walked towards home. After taking only two steps, she heard another unwilling roar from behind her: "Xue Huan! Have you fallen in love with someone else? It's your father's apprentice, right?"

He thought about it and felt that she no longer liked him, and the only reason was that she had fallen in love with someone else.

Xue Huan paused for a moment, but didn't object. If that's what he wanted, then so be it.

Seeing that she didn't deny it at all, Chen Qing felt that his guess was confirmed and his heart sank completely.

He punched a tree in anger, but the tree was fine. Instead, his fist started bleeding, and he gasped in pain.

Two days passed, and the people hired by Mr. Chen went around the mountain more than once, but still couldn't find the whereabouts of Xue's father, so they had to give up.

On the other hand, the three days given by the county magistrate to Guan Yue had expired, and Guan Yue finally found the criminal.

"Call the suspect Qian Jia!" In the county court, Cai Kuo sat high in the middle hall, and several yamen runners stood on both sides with expressionless faces, holding water and fire sticks.

Qian Dazhi, the victim, had barely recovered from his injuries and was sitting on the side listening.

This is certainly against the rules, but in Fengchi County, the county magistrate Cai Kuo is the rule. Who can object to this?

Qian Jia was one of the guards in Qian Dazhi's mansion and also his number one lackey. He was among those who had gone with him to Xue's house to force Xue's mother to get into the bridal sedan.

When Qian Jia was brought up, he no longer had the arrogance he had before, and he looked much more embarrassed and downcast.

"Sir, I am innocent! How could I harm you?" He was not only crying out for justice, but also declaring his innocence to Qian Dazhi.

However, since Guan Yue dared to label him as the villain, it was certainly not without basis. "You say you are wrongly accused, then let me ask you, where were you on the night Master Qian was assassinated? What were you doing?"

"I'm..." Qian Jia's eyes flickered and he couldn't answer.

He was called a security guard, but in fact he had rarely patrolled the palace. He was just taking the Qian family's salary and following Qian Dazhi to do evil things, acting as a thug, a lackey, a servant, etc. when Qian Dazhi needed him.

Qian Dazhi was fooling around at night, and he and the other guards were happy to have some free time. Naturally, they would not go to great lengths to patrol the yard according to the rules. Instead, they found a place to drink and gamble with the guards as usual. Anyway, no one dared to come to the Qian family and act recklessly.

Although everyone knows about this matter, and even Qian Dazhi may be aware of it, he cannot speak about it. Once he says it, wouldn't that be a blatant admission that he is taking money without doing any work?

Guan Yue: "Why, you can't tell?"

Qian Dazhi's eyes next to him also became dangerous.

How could the Qian family dare to hide it? Compared with being sneaky and cunning, the crime of assassinating the master is obviously a bigger and more serious crime!

"No, no, no, let me tell you, that night I was drinking in the front yard with a group of brothers. We were bored, so we wanted to have some fun." Qian Jia said carefully, while looking at Qian Dazhi's face.

Hearing the word "fun", Guan Yue's eyes flashed coldly, but no one noticed. "Oh? What fun?"

"Just, just playing dice and betting some money."

Guan Yue: "But I understand that in the middle of gambling, you suddenly had a stomachache and ran to the toilet. It took you a long time to come back. At the same time, Mr. Qian was stabbed by a gangster."

Without waiting for Qian Jia to speak, Guan Yue turned to the county magistrate and said, "Sir, the villain didn't alert anyone when he stabbed Master Qian. He quickly fled after achieving his goal. Of all the servants in the Qian Mansion, not a single one saw him. This is obviously unreasonable, unless the villain is hiding among those servants."

Qian Jia's face turned pale with horror. "Guan Yue! You're slandering me! Do you think you can pin the crime on me just based on this? How have I ever offended you?"

At this moment, the fear of being convicted had surpassed his fear of Guan Yue, causing him to speak without thinking.

Guan Yue sneered, "Qian Jia, did I ever tell you that you were the villain? When did I ever slander you? Aren't you just admitting it yourself?"

Qian Jia was furious: "You!"

He did not point out that he was the villain, but what he said just now, connected together, meant that he was implying that he had gone to the toilet to assassinate Master Qian, and then returned to the servants as if nothing had happened, so as to take the opportunity to get rid of suspicion!

Qian Jia was both angry and furious. He didn't know how he had offended Guan Yue that he had to treat him like this.

Before he could figure out what was going on, Guan Yue produced a crucial piece of evidence.

At his signal, a yamen official came out with a tray. On the tray was a dagger, stained with dried blood.

Guan Yue reported to Cai Kuo: "Sir, this was found in Qian Jia's room. I have already consulted the doctor and confirmed that this dagger is the murder weapon used to assassinate Master Qian!"

Qian Jia looked at the dagger, his pupils shrank, and the blood color faded from his face. This dagger was indeed his, but he had never used it to commit a crime!

It is important to point out here that when Xue Huan decided to seriously injure Qian Dazhi, she did not think of using her own weapon. Wouldn't that be too stupid?

When she sneaked into the Qian Mansion, she first walked around inside and took out a dagger, which she used to deal with Qian Dazhi. When she left in a hurry, she didn't have time to put the dagger back, but after Guan Yue came to find her, she found an opportunity to put the murder weapon under the Qian family's bed.

Later, he was found by Guan Yue.

Qian Jia was completely panicked. "Sir, I am innocent. I really didn't do this. How could I dare to do this..."

Cai Kuo slammed the gavel, "Is this dagger yours?"

Qian Jia: "It belonged to me, but it disappeared a few days ago. I don't know where it went. Someone must have stolen it, used it to stab the master, and then threw the dagger under my bed to frame me!"

The more he spoke, the more this seemed to be the case.

Unfortunately, no one believed it except him.

Qian Dazhi was even more convinced that he was quibbling, so he stood up and kicked him in the chest, knocking Qian Jia to the ground.

"Speak! Master, I have treated you well, why do you treat me like this?"

Qian Jia climbed up and hugged his thighs: "Master, I am really wronged..."

Qian Dazhi wanted to break free, but Qian Jia was holding him too tightly, so Cai Kuo had no choice but to speak: "Pull him away for me!"

After Qian Jia was pulled away, Cai Kuo gave another order: "Send the witness!"
