Chapter 1119 Peeling
As soon as the curtain was lowered and the carriage moved away, the two of them turned back to look at Bai Erlang.
Bai Erlang put his hands in front of him and shouted, "If you dare to hit me, I will go back and complain to my master."
Liu Huan and Yin Huo, who hadn't even gotten into their car yet, happened to hear this clearly:
Yin Huo went home, so naturally he would not tell these things to his family, but Liu Huan was different. He only promised Bai Shan not to tell anyone else, but his family members were not just anyone else to him.
His elder brother must have gone out for social events again, so Liu Huan turned around and ran to find his grandfather.
Liu Hui had just returned from the government office and was writing something in his study with a frown on his face. When he saw his little grandson peeking at the door, he asked, "What's the matter?"
Liu Huan ran in with a smile to grind ink for him, and then asked, "Grandfather, do you know Chen Fulin?"
When Liu Hui heard this, he raised his eyelids and glanced at his grandson, then put down his pen and asked, "Why are you asking this?"
Liu Huan shook his head. "Nothing, just curious."
"What are you curious about?"
"I wonder if Grandfather particularly dislikes him."
"Why should I hate him for no reason?"
"Because he is not a good person, he is a hypocrite." Liu Huan would not think as much as the adults and would not want to see evidence or anything. Of course, he would believe his friends about a stranger he had never even heard of.
Yes, he is so credulous.
So when Liu Hui asked, he told the whole story about the grudge between Bai Shan and Chen Fulin.
Liu Hui's eyes narrowed slightly as he asked, "These things happened over 20 years ago. Did your classmates tell you about them?"
"Yes, Grandfather, who is Chen Fulin? Why have I never heard of him?"
Liu Hui glanced at him and said, "He's a doctor under me. Where is your classmate from? Was it their doing that knocked down the memorial this time?"
Liu Huan was stunned, shook his head, and nodded halfway through.
Seeing him shaking his head and nodding, Liu Hui said angrily, "Yes, it is, no, it is not. What do you mean by shaking your head and nodding?"
Liu Huan scratched his head and simply told the whole story from beginning to end. The main point was that he didn't think Manbao could influence the emperor, but this matter did have something to do with her.
Liu Hui seemed lost in thought. Liu Huan, standing by, asked excitedly, "Grandfather, why do you still want such a villain in the Ministry of Revenue?"
Liu Hui raised his eyelids, glanced at him, and said, "What's wrong with a villain? How many gentlemen can there be in this world?"
Liu Huan was stunned. "So, Grandfather, do you still think he did the right thing?"
"Nonsense, of course it's wrong," Liu Hui said, "but you can't just listen to one person on this kind of thing. Just stay out of it."
He paused and looked at him, "When did you become friends with that little genius doctor? How come I didn't know?"
Liu Huan chuckled and said, "There's so much you don't know."
Liu Hui knocked him on the head with the book and said, "Alright, stop bragging here. The Queen Mother will be passing away soon. Your elder brother and the others will be going on horseback riding and archery. As for me, I don't expect you to fight with me, either in arms or in literature. Just stay here and don't get me into trouble."
"Grandfather, when have I ever gotten you into trouble?"
"Well," Liu Hui chuckled, "Isn't that enough? Come, tell me how you met Dr. Zhou in the Imperial College."
Liu Huan blinked.
Liu Hui stared at him, nodded his chin and said, "Think carefully and see if you can come up with a good reason."
Liu Huan chuckled, turned around and ran away.
Liu Hui snorted, "Stinky boy."
Liu Hui looked down at the memorial he was writing, picked it up, tore it up and threw it into the brazier beside him, and sighed.
If that's the case, then there's no need to fight for him.
Liu Hui thought for a moment and called a servant over. "Go and find out if there's any news from Chen Fulin's family recently about their master's friend who died over twenty years ago."
The servant responded and left.
Chen Fulin was suddenly hit by such a blow today. He was a little dazed for a moment and hadn't reacted much when he returned home.
So I didn't notice that there were so many people outside my house.
But Mr. Zhuang was immediately alert. After hearing Manbao's vivid account of the incident, he said, "You should be more careful when you go out these days, and even be more cautious with your words."
Bai Shan asked, "Could it be that he really wants to do something desperate?"
Mr. Zhuang shook his head and said, "It's not him we're guarding against, but those people who are watching him now."
The three disciples all looked confused.
Mr. Zhuang said, "If it were any other time, Chen Fulin would have been exposed to such a scandal, which would have been nothing. At most, the Censorate would have impeached him. If what he did back then was not proven, I would have been forced to leave the capital. But now, he is being promoted, and even a small move could have repercussions for the whole group."
Mr. Zhuang, who had also served as a legal advisor and had consulted on government affairs, said, "At this moment, whether he took a step forward, stood still, or took a step downward, he would be blocking the way."
"Some want him promoted, others want him to stay where he is, and some might even want to bring him down," Mr. Zhuang said. "So many people are watching him, and we're the only ones currently in serious conflict with him. Be careful not to be used as a tool."
When the three of them heard this, they nodded repeatedly and behaved very obediently.
Mr. Zhuang stared at Manbao and said, "Especially you."
Manbao shrank his neck, "Why me again?"
"If not you, then who else could it be? These days, when you enter and leave the palace, every word and action must be careful not to make mistakes, and yet you're actually provoking trouble," Mr. Zhuang said. "If you do something like this again, be careful I'll give you a beating."
Manbao whispered, "I didn't say anything about Chen Fulin. I just mentioned you to the Queen and said you were very powerful."
Mr. Zhuang gave her a sidelong glance, and Manbao remained silent and didn't dare to speak.
Mr. Zhuang waved his hand and said, "Okay, go wash your hands and get ready for dinner."
The three of them agreed obediently and winked at each other as they left.
The world outside the wall was in turmoil, but the family inside the wall was happily eating dinner.
At dinner that day, many people had no appetite, many people were out drinking and socializing, managing relationships, and many more were running around in the cool autumn breeze, looking for all the information they needed.
Within a few days, Chen Fulin was stripped down to his inner clothes. Although his inner clothes had not been found yet, these things alone were enough for some people to find out more.
The most surprised person among them was probably Doctor Liu from the Ministry of Works.
They were both doctors, and Chen Fulin was an old senior. He was quite familiar with him and always felt that he was a good person.
His strengths are that he is a nice guy, and his weaknesses are also that he is a nice guy, but I never expected that there is such a side hidden behind this nice guy's face.
I'm so sleepy. I want to sleep.
Come back at nine o'clock.
