Chapter 1443 Thief

Chapter 1443 Thief

After thinking for a while, Lord Tang stood up and took out a painting. It was a picture of a rooster and a gem drawn by the prince. He asked his subordinates to check the origin of the gem.

He held the painting close to the gem and compared it carefully, and found that most of them were the same.

As for the differences, he didn't pay too much attention to it. The prince was not copying, but drawing it based on a rough recollection, so there would definitely be some discrepancies.

He put down the painting, leaned back in his chair and thought for a while, his heart wavering.

Unless the prince helped Zhou Man to forge the goods, it would be impossible for Zhou Man to come up with such a fake. It would take even a year, let alone a day, to find it.

How could it be so easy to find such colorful jade that is also in the shape of a rooster?

Not to mention the need for carving and polishing.

If it's not fake, it's real.

Lord Tang frowned in distress.

Zhou Man's words, actions and expressions told him that this was false; but the factual evidence told him that this was true.

Lord Tang rubbed his forehead, stood up and put the things into the rattan box. After thinking for a while, he took it out and called someone over, saying, "Find a good box."

Such a good thing needs a good box, right?

It would be too shabby to put it in a wicker box.

Lord Tang took the things to the East Palace for the prince to identify.

The front hall of the Eastern Palace was bustling with activity, and he didn't know what the Crown Prince and the officials of the Eastern Palace were arguing about. He waited in the yard for a while before the Crown Prince came out with a sullen face and went to the small study to talk with Lord Tang.

As Lord Tang took the gem out of the box, he paid attention to the expression on the prince's face.

Seeing Lord Tang take out the gem, he frowned and couldn't help but stand up and move a little further away from it. He frowned and asked, "Did you take it from Zhou Man? Can you see what it is?"

Lord Tang asked, "Your Highness, are you sure this stone is the one you gave Zhou Man?"

The prince didn't even bother to look closer, and simply said, "It's this piece, what's wrong?"

Lord Tang shook his head and smiled, "Nothing, just came to confirm with His Highness."

Seeing that the prince was still standing far away, he smiled and said, "Don't worry, Your Highness. Zhou Man said that she has removed the poison from this stone. Now this gem is non-toxic."

Even if it was no longer poisonous, the prince didn't want to see it, so he stood far away.

Lord Tang put it away when he saw it and confirmed it again, "Your Highness said it glows at night. Does the poison come from the light?"

The prince frowned and said, "That's what Zhou Man said at the time. Why didn't you ask her?"

He did ask, but he suspected that every word the girl said was false, so he didn't believe it at all.

Lord Tang smiled and asked some more questions, the main point of which was how Zhou Man determined that the stone was poisonous.

After asking clearly, he picked up the box and said goodbye and left.

In the end, Mr. Tang did not dare to take the things back home, so he stayed in the Ministry of Justice to work overtime at night. Mrs. Tang was so angry that she sent someone to bring him a bowl of soup every half an hour.

Lord Tang drank his third bowl of soup sadly, and it was finally dark!

As night fell, the dark room remained dark, and the stone on the table did not react at all.

Lord Tang sighed, stood up in the darkness, and followed his memory to grope his way out the door. Once he reached the yard, the soft moonlight shone down, and it was finally not pitch dark anymore.

Seeing this, the servant who had been hiding in the corner immediately struck the flint and lit the lantern to light the way for their master.

Lord Tang exhaled and said, "Zhou Man's poison has been completely eliminated."

The servant couldn't help but ask, "Sir, isn't this a good thing?"

Master Tang was at a loss for words, "Forget it?"

He was about to go home, but halfway there he frowned, feeling something was wrong, so he turned around and went back to the office. When he returned to the yard, he saw a little fire in his house. He immediately walked up quickly and kicked the door open.

The people in the house didn't expect him to come back. Their hands holding the gem paused, and without even putting it back into the box, they immediately broke through the window holding the gem.

The servant yelled, "There's an assassin—"

Lord Tang had already jumped out of the window right after him...

Stealing things in the Ministry of Justice, is this because the birthday god is dissatisfied with his life?

As a result, Lord Tang chased him out of two gates, and there was not a single guard along the way.

Just as Lord Tang was about to reach the corner of the person's clothes, a man suddenly appeared at the corner and stopped Lord Tang.

Lord Tang immediately started fighting with someone...

The servant chased after him, and Lord Tang immediately shouted, "Go and get the gem back!"

The servant hesitated for a moment, thinking that although his master was lazy, his kung fu was passable, so he ran after the thief.

But at this time, it was obvious that there was more than one accomplice of the thief in the Ministry of Justice.

The servant didn't get far before he was stopped. Lord Tang sensed this and was furious. He kicked the man who was stopping him back and flew past him to chase him...

The thief ran all the way to the front yard with the gem in his arms. The guard at the gate turned around and saw him. He pointed at him lazily and asked, "Which courtyard are you from? What are you doing so late at night?"

The thief leaped up with the gem in his arms and flew straight out of the wall.

The yamen runner was stunned when he saw it, then immediately reacted, pulled out his machete and shouted, "It's a thief! Come on, catch the thief!"

After climbing over the wall, the thief squatted down steadily and landed on the ground. He stood up and turned around to run, but he felt something was wrong in the dim night and could not help but stop.

In the dim alley, someone struck a flint and lit a torch. When the torch was lit, he saw a dozen horses parked in front of him, and the people on the horses were looking at him with knives in their hands.

The firelight made the horses a little uneasy, so they shook their heads, but their hooves did not move. They were obviously well-trained military horses.

The thief couldn't help but take two steps back and turned to run to the other side, but he heard the sound of horse hooves behind him. More than a dozen horses came from behind, also looking down at him.

Just as the two sides were in a tense standoff, another person jumped down from the wall.

Lord Tang stopped in his tracks, glanced around, saw movement in the alley, and immediately jumped to the side, avoiding the thieves' attack range while also avoiding standing alongside the horses in the alley.

He stopped and looked over to the people holding torches. He heaved a sigh of relief when he saw the leader. "Lord Yin, it's you."

Yin Li smiled faintly and said, "Master Xiao Tang, I think Jingzhao Prefecture is better than the Ministry of Justice, right? At least in Jingzhao Prefecture, there won't be any thieves coming."

Lord Tang was speechless and complained in his heart. The office in Jingzhao Prefecture was cold and he had to face Yin Li. If he had a choice, he would of course choose to go back to the Ministry of Justice to work.

Since I have to work overtime, of course I have to stay in a comfortable place.

Moreover, coming out of the Eastern Palace, the Ministry of Justice is closer than Jingzhao Prefecture.

But now was not the time to discuss this. He took a deep breath, pointed at the thief and said, "Master Yin, you should arrest him first. He still has the gem in his hand."

Yin Li raised his finger and ordered in a deep voice, "Capture him."

"Look at the knife!"
