Chapter 2202 Conflict
"Yes, it's locked in the backyard, and no one can get close," the steward said, "Master, I've seen that there are a lot of young and strong people in this inn, and the waiters seem to have some skills."
Bai Shan nodded. "To be able to keep an inn here, you must have some power. Forget it, buy it. It's expensive, but we need to replenish it. We have to spend at least one night in the desert. If things don't go well, we may stay longer. Everything else is fine, but we must have enough water."
The steward agreed and left.
Bai Shan turned around and held out his hand to them, "Give me money."
Obviously, the further west you go, the higher the expenses are, and the public money is not enough.
Bai Erlang is the poorest now. He pinched his purse and said, "Shouldn't Manbao pay her? She used to eat and live in the post station, but she didn't pay it back. Now there is no post station."
Manbao looked for his purse, and Bai Shan said quietly, "She can file a public account, can you?"
Manbao then remembered, "Yes, I can report the public accounts to the Ministry of Revenue after I go back."
Liu Huan said, "My grandfather won't tell you everything."
He said, "Even if my father came back from Suzhou to visit his family, he could only claim one-third of the reward. As for you..."
He looked Manbao up and down and said, "I think with the distance we've traveled, if we can report back a quarter of the amount, that would be pretty good."
Manbao was speechless, but finally took out the silver.
There is little water here, so even bathing has to be done in a separate bathroom. At thirty cents per person, the cost of a bath is comparable to staying in an inn for a night.
But Manbao and the others didn't mind at all. They found the clothes they wanted to change and put them in the basket, then took their soap and went to the bathhouse excitedly.
This was the first time they had taken a bath in a bathhouse since they were grown up.
Unfortunately, there were only two girls in the entire inn, her and Zhou Liru, so when she pushed the door open and went in, there were only two people inside, which was no different from taking a shower in her own room.
Manbao put the basket of clothes aside, turned around, and poured the hot water from the door into the bathtub...
There are only two people on their side, but Bai Shan and his group are a group of people!
This inn is almost entirely filled with men, and there aren't many people taking showers. When a few people entered, they saw a group of naked men inside and couldn't help but close their eyes.
General Nie knew they would be embarrassed, so he laughed heartily and pointed to a place, saying, "Young gentlemen, there's a small cubicle over there. You can go there to wash."
Bai Shan nodded calmly and pulled his friends over.
Liu Huan was the only one with experience in hot springs. He looked around and saw that all three of them had flushed red faces. He couldn't help but wonder, "What's there to be ashamed of? It's okay for Yin Huo, but haven't you two ever been in a hot spring?"
Bai Shan glanced at him and said, "No."
Liu Huan immediately said, "I'll treat you all when we get back to the capital. Not only can you soak in the hot springs, but you can also go out and take a bath. There's one next to the Imperial College. They're all well-educated people, and it's not expensive. It's just the drinks and snacks that cost money."
Bai Jilang couldn't help but ask, "Isn't it good to take a bath at home? Why do you have to go out to take a bath?"
Liu Huan thought about it and shook his head. "How should I know? Everyone else is going. They invited me, so I went."
"But the students at the Imperial College are here because it's cold in the dormitories in the winter. Anyway, we don't shower every day, so we can save up some money. When we have enough, we can spend some money to go to the bathhouse..."
Bai Shan looked dazed and asked, "What are you saving for?"
"Gathering dust."
Bai Shan and the other two blushed so much that they were speechless.
Liu Huan moved quickly. As soon as he entered, he touched the water in the hot spring and found that the temperature was okay. He immediately took off his clothes and jumped in. When he turned around and saw the three people still standing there in amazement, he said, "What are you still standing there for? Come down quickly."
Bai Shan closed his mouth and asked, "Wash in the same pool? This water..."
"It's nothing, it's just like taking a hot spring bath. It's good enough if the water is changed once a day."
Yin Huo took a small step back and asked with a strange look on his face, "Has anyone else done this before?"
Bai Erlang was also frightened.
Bai Shan quickly regained his composure and shook his head, saying, "It shouldn't be. It's still early. I just saw that everyone outside is one of our people, so no one should have come to bathe today."
Bai Jilang: "So someone will be here soon?"
After hearing the noise and playful sounds outside, the three of them immediately took off their clothes and washed them in the water.
They were fast, but no matter how fast they were, it took them a quarter of an hour to get out. When the four of them reached the door with red faces, a group of big men with clothes draped over their shoulders came in. When they saw them, someone in the crowd whistled loudly and said "yo". Everyone laughed and looked at them with a teasing look, some of them with a vulgar look.
Bai Shan's face darkened, he looked up at them indifferently, and then shouted, "Good luck!"
Daji, who was guarding outside the bathhouse, walked over, pushed the people aside, walked up to Bai Shan, then turned around and stared at them with a bad look.
The person who was still joking suddenly stopped smiling, put away the smile on his face, and stared at Daji.
Daji did not give in and just looked at them quietly.
The bearded man at the head of the group was also looking at Bai Shan and the other three with a playful look. Although he wasn't as playful as the people behind him, he also raised his eyebrows. But when Daji pushed his people aside and came in, the smile on his face disappeared. He looked at Bai Shan, his smile slightly fading. He took two steps forward, stood in front of Daji and said, "Get out of the way."
Daji stood there without moving, and now it was Bai Shan and the others' turn to cast a teasing look on their faces.
The beard on the other man's cheek twitched, and he was about to reach out and push Daji away. The soldiers in the bathhouse, noticing the strange atmosphere here, wiped themselves hastily, put on their pants, and came out, "Sir, what's wrong?"
Seeing the person behind them, he lowered his eyes, then raised them after a moment and said to Daji, "Excuse me, please make way."
Daji: “No!”
"You!" The bearded man stretched out his hand to stop his angry subordinate who was about to rush forward. He stared at Daji for a moment, then his eyes fell on Bai Shan behind him. He forced a faint smile and said, "Sir, we are going in to take a shower."
Bai Shan's hair was still wet. He carried his basket and said lazily, "Unfortunately, we have to go out."
The man narrowed his eyes and looked at the guards and soldiers who were gathering behind him. When he saw General Nie coming out with his upper body naked, he stepped aside and said, "Okay, sir, go first."
The people behind him reluctantly made way.
Daji glanced at Bai Shan, who nodded slightly. Then he turned sideways and protected the four people as they went out.
Before leaving, Bai Shanlin looked back at General Nie and smiled slightly.
As soon as they left, the bearded man was about to lead his men in, but he was stopped by General Nie after taking only two steps.
Nie Canjun rubbed his skin with his hands, and rubbed out a small ball of mud, which he flicked away. He said to them, "The bathhouse is full and can't accommodate anyone. Come back after we're done."
See you at 10pm
