Chapter 2400: Robbery
Manbao asked quietly, "Is Madam Han not angry with you?"
Mrs. Tang glanced at her and said, "Why are you angry with me? This little thing between men won't affect our relationship for now. Let's make it more serious."
Manbao thought about it for a moment and then said with certainty, "The fine money wasn't Mrs. Han's?"
Mrs. Tang laughed out loud, winked at her and said happily, "You are so clever."
Manbao chuckled and pulled Zhou Liru to see if he could see Miss Fenghua.
The two of them quietly approached the lotus pond and tiptoed to look over there. Just then, a boat slowly approached the shore, and the aunt and nephew watched excitedly.
Two maids came down from the boat, carried out a thick wooden board and placed it on the boat and the table, then several little girls in dancing costumes ran down from the boat happily and jumped onto the shore.
Fenghua followed them and jumped up with her skirt lifted up. The flower ornaments on her forehead sparkled in the sunlight. The eyes of the aunt and niece lit up and they raised their feet to go over there.
Someone was quicker than them. A few people came out from a small path behind a tree. The one in the lead looked at Feng Hua with a smile, waving a fan. "Miss Feng Hua, come and have a drink with us."
Feng Hua's smile didn't change much. After kneeling and bowing, she said, "My dear, I shouldn't refuse your invitation. However, we still need to go to the master's house to receive orders. Why don't you go back first and serve us when we have time?"
"Who is the manager of the Jiaofangsi who brought you here today? Ask him to come over. I really want you to accompany me the whole time today. What's wrong with that?"
Zhou Liru frowned and couldn't help but look at his aunt.
Manbao also frowned. After taking a look at those people, he found that some of them looked familiar, while some he had never seen before.
The most familiar person was naturally the leader, Lord Han, who they had just talked about not long ago.
Manbao glanced at the peony bushes at his feet. There weren't any particularly beautiful flowers, but he picked one with red petals. Then he walked forward with the flower, "Miss Fenghua."
A group of young girls from the Jiaofangsi were turning pale and at a loss because of what Lord Han said. When they heard the voice, they turned around.
Manbao walked over with a smile, handed the flower in his hand to Fenghua, and said with a smile: "There are no good peonies here, so I can only find one to lend you as a gift. How about I put it on your hairpin?"
Miss Fenghua was surprised. She didn't know Zhou Man, but when she glanced at Lord Han and the others, she saw that they didn't say anything, and some even pulled Lord Han to leave. She guessed that this person must be of high status, at least these gentlemen didn't seem to dare to offend her.
So he bowed with a smile and humbly thanked for the reward.
Seeing her lower her head slightly, Manbao put the flower on her hairpin, stepped back and pretended to admire it for a while, then nodded and praised: "Sure enough, this flower can't compare to you, you are much more beautiful than the flower."
Fenghua lowered her head and smiled, looking at Lord Han and others with some embarrassment.
Manbao followed her gaze and smiled at them, "Mr. Han, why aren't you drinking in the front? Are you missing Madam Han and the others? Do you want me to take you to find them?"
One of them pulled Master Han and said, "Master Han, let's go quickly. Why are we joining her?"
Lord Han frowned, "Lord Zhou, are you going to help a few official prostitutes?"
"Why should I stand up for them?" Man Bao said confidently, "You're allowed to drink with them, but I'm not allowed to talk with them?"
Lord Han choked, "You are just a little lady, what do you want to do with a group of ladies?"
Man Bao said: "Speak up, do you think I am you, and I have to find the opposite sex? Anyway, they are invited by the Liu family to entertain guests, and I am also a guest. Whoever grabs them depends on their ability."
Lord Han was choking and was about to speak when Zhou Man's eyes suddenly lit up. He waved behind them and called out, "Miss Liu, we are here."
Miss Liu, who was passing by with her servants, ran over upon hearing this. She took a curious look at Lord Han and the others and asked Zhou Man, "Miss Zhou, what are you doing here? My grandmother was just talking about you to the guests. I was just about to introduce you to the old ladies, but when I turned around, I couldn't find you."
Manbao pointed at Fenghua and the others and said, "I wanted to play games and was looking for people. I happened to like them, and it turned out that Han Dalangjun also liked them."
Upon hearing this, Miss Liu smiled like a host. Just as she was about to appease them and negotiate with them, Mr. Han waved his hand impatiently and said, "Alright, alright, I don't really need them to drink with me. Let's go."
After they left, Manbao smiled and said to Miss Liu, "Thank you very much."
She turned to Feng Hua and the others and said, "You guys go and get busy."
Fenghua looked at Zhou Man deeply, knelt down to salute, and then retreated with his men.
Miss Liu watched them walk away, sighed, and said to her, "You are really kind and gentle to women."
Manbao said: "That requires her to be sympathetic enough for me to see. Which old lady wants to see me? Don't I know her?"
"You definitely don't know them. They came from Jinyang," Miss Liu led her and explained, "There are old ladies from various families. I don't know if they are here to congratulate my cousin or to see you."
"What do I have to see? I'm definitely here to congratulate your cousin."
"That's not necessarily true. Even if I don't treat illnesses, I can still treat rare things," said Miss Liu. "You don't know, you're already very famous. You're the first female imperial physician of this dynasty, the first female official to attend court. Recently, female education has become very popular in the capital, and many families of minor officials have sent their daughters to study there. They all hope that in the future they can become editors in some academy like you."
Manbao: "...I am just compiling medical books."
"So more girls want to learn medicine recently."
Even Zhou Liru nodded and whispered to Manbao, "Little aunt, you don't know, but I went back to the Imperial Medical Bureau to study this year and saw a lot of new classmates. They were all new students who enrolled last year, and many of them were girls."
Only then did Miss Liu notice Zhou Liru. She turned her head and asked, "Are you going to be a royal physician in the future?"
Zhou Liru nodded. "This is my ideal. Not only do I want to be an imperial physician, I also want to write medical books like my aunt. I'll try my best to become an editor."
She said, "It is the dream of every doctor to be able to compile a medical book."
"What a great ambition!" A group of old ladies came out from behind the stone screen and said with a smile, "The young lady has such ambitions. It makes us old folks look so old-fashioned. Is the young lady also a child of the Zhou family?"
Manbao led Zhou Liru to greet everyone and looked at the Shangshu's wife curiously, "Where are you going, Madam?"
The Shangshu's wife smiled and said, "I was just about to take them to the front to listen to a story, and you happened to come over. Come on, let's go listen to the story together."
This group of people didn't go there to listen to books at all. They were clearly using the name of listening to books to talk about other things and have other entertainment.
As soon as he sat down, someone asked Zhou Man, "Is this Doctor Zhou? He looks so young. How old are you this year? Is he engaged?"
It's too cold today. See you at six in the evening.
