Chapter 2845: Consultation
Manbao glanced around the lobby. There were only two patients getting their medicine. It was very different from the Jishidiang in Beijing, which was always packed with people.
However, she had anticipated this situation before entering the door. After all, it was the busy farming season. Jishiditang in Luojiang County had very few patients during the busy farming season. But the month after the busy farming season every year was the time when the most patients visited. The other seasons were winter and spring.
Manbao said, "I'll ask for a consultation."
The apprentice then took her to see a doctor.
There was only one doctor in the pharmacy. When he saw Zhou Man, he offered her a seat. After taking a look at her face, he asked, "What do you want to ask?"
Manbao was stuck for a moment.
The doctor glanced at her hair and said, "Stretch out your hand. Let me see."
Manbao reached out his hand to feel his pulse.
The doctor felt both sides of his body and said to Zhou Man, "The internal heat is a little strong, but other than that, there's nothing wrong."
Manbao thought about it. She had been on the road all this time, drinking little water, and eating almost no vegetables. Most of her diet consisted of dried vegetables and meat that her sister-in-law had dried, steamed, boiled, or stir-fried. It was indeed easy to get angry, so she nodded and asked, "Do you want a prescription?"
"This isn't a serious illness. I'll prescribe you a refreshing drink. Just take two doses when you get home." The doctor said this, but he didn't start writing a prescription. Instead, he looked at Zhou Man and asked, "Madam, are you seeking a child?"
Manbao, who was about to get up, sat down firmly upon hearing this and nodded repeatedly, saying, "Can I ask for help?"
The doctor stroked his beard and said, "Okay."
He carefully inquired about Zhou Man's diet and daily routine, then quickly wrote down two prescriptions, handed them to the apprentice beside him, and said, "Get two for each."
Manbao glanced at the prescription in the apprentice's hand. He didn't see any specific herbs on the prescription, but that didn't stop him from asking, "Which one should I take first?"
"Drink the heat-reducing medicine first, then wait two days before drinking this fertility-seeking soup."
Manbao: "...So this is the soup for praying for a child."
"Yes," the doctor said confidently, "This prescription of mine is passed down from my ancestors and has cured many people."
So Manbao stretched out his hand curiously and asked, "Can I take a look?"
The apprentice looked at the doctor.
The doctor nodded and showed the prescription to Zhou Man.
Manbao looked at both. Seeing that the apprentice was still looking at her, she handed him the prescription and asked curiously, "Don't you take prescriptions from your pharmacy to go?"
"The prescription is precious, how can I give it to you?" The doctor said, adding, "This is also for the patient's own good. Otherwise, if the patient takes the prescription away, the next time he gets sick, he will use the prescription to randomly prescribe medicine without seeing a doctor. You must know that even coughs can be divided into many types, such as cold coughs, heat coughs, and lung coughs. Don't think that we doctors are here to earn a few cents in consultation fees. We are afraid that you will prescribe medicine recklessly and harm yourself."
Manbao nodded to show that he understood.
Then he followed the apprentice to get medicine.
Xibing was stunned. "Madam, are you really catching it?"
The apprentice looked at them and asked, "You don't want to prescribe medicine?"
Manbao nodded repeatedly and said, "I caught it, I caught it."
After the pharmacist at the medicine cabinet prepared the medicine, Manbao paid the consultation fee and the medicine fee together, then handed the medicine to Xibing, went out happily, and went straight to Baicaotang next door.
Xibing followed with a conflicted look on his face.
A quarter of an hour later, Manbao brought out two more prescriptions.
The apprentice of Baicaotang watched them leave with a smile on his face. At first, when they came to his door with medicine bags, he thought they were here to cause trouble, but it turned out that they were here to see a doctor.
After leaving the pharmacy, Manbao gave the medicine bag in his hand to Xibing.
Xibing asked with a troubled look on his face, "Madam, what should I do with this medicine?"
"Let's cook it when we get home," Manbao said. "I'll add some more mint and make a big pot for everyone to share. It's my fault for neglecting it. It's easy to get angry when traveling. We haven't been staying with guests much lately. When we're out, we've been eating dried vegetables and bacon with rice, and we don't drink much water, so it's natural that we get angry easily."
Xibing picked up the medicine bag in his left hand and asked, "Where are these four prescriptions?"
Manbao said, "Don't you and Wuyue always have irregular periods? I'll pick out some medicine and make some for you. Take a few doses and see how it works."
Talking about this on the street, Xibing said a little uncomfortably: "I've gotten much better in the past two years."
Manbao nodded, "But you still need to be more careful. The medicine has been given anyway, so you can take some more to consolidate the effect."
The three of them walked down the street, and when they got out of the main street, they took a stroll in the alleys on the side. These were basically residential areas, and the closer they got to the edge, the smaller and shorter the houses became, and the noisier it became.
Manbao didn't know the direction and just walked around aimlessly, so Daji showed her the way back through another alley, and told her to ask someone if she came across an unfamiliar road.
As they were walking around, Daji frowned and said, "My dear, it's too chaotic up ahead. Let's go back."
There is only one alley here. If you don't go forward, you can only go back and find the fork in the road and continue.
Manbao asked, "What's the mess?"
As soon as he finished speaking, a door in front of them opened and a basin of water poured out from inside, directly onto the door opposite.
The rotten leaves and mud in the water also hung on the small door opposite.
Manbao opened his mouth wide and was about to speak when the door opposite him banged open. Seeing his door in such a state, he was so angry that he kicked it directly at the door opposite him. After kicking it open, he shouted, "You are asking for death! Who the hell threw mud and water on my door? Do you really think you can let you bully me when my husband is not at home?"
"Who dares to bully you? I only saw you kicking my door," the person inside retorted without any hesitation, and rushed out to push the person next door to her out. However, she was too thin and could not compete with the fat person next door. She pushed twice but failed and was pushed to stagger.
He just pushed and shoved people while pointing his finger at them and cursing at them.
The people next door naturally didn't want to be outdone, and the two of them started to curse at each other.
Although it was a dialect and Manbao didn't understand most of it, based on some vague words and their actions and expressions, she knew it was not something nice.
Manbao swallowed his saliva, and Daji whispered, "Madam, let's go."
Xibing nodded repeatedly.
Manbao glanced at the puddles on the ground, nodded, picked up her skirt, and carefully walked across the wet road...
Just as Manbao walked over, put down her skirt and was about to breathe a sigh of relief and leave with Daji and the others, the fight between the two people reached a white-hot stage. The one who splashed water was obviously angered by something the other said. He screamed in anger and slammed the door opposite, trying to push her out.
The person next door was bumped into and was obviously angry, so he reached out and pushed hard, pushing the person to the ground.
When Manbao turned her head, she only saw the moment she fell, but in that moment she realized something was wrong.
She fell heavily backwards to the ground, and only then did Manbao notice that her belly was a little big under her loose clothes.
Her eyes widened, and the person lying on the ground also screamed, holding his stomach and shouting: "Ah, my stomach, my stomach, someone is killing someone, someone is killing someone, come and see, the Guo family is killing someone."
See you at 9pm
