Chapter 3069 Guilt
Bai Shan just looked at her quietly.
Zhou Man slowly lowered his head. "Not often, actually. Just occasionally."
Bai Shan asked, "Have you tested the medicine?"
"The current test results are quite good." The effectiveness of the medicine sent to the border is still unknown, but she has close contact with the capital. The capital has conducted several tests and the results are good.
Zhou Man paused, then decided to tell the truth. "Xiao Yuanzheng and I have applied for two more students to come over as pawnshops."
She said, "I've found that one medical office per state is still too few. It's difficult to provide care to counties far from the state capital, so I suggest that each state should have at least three medical offices."
"The prefectural medical office has a director who is the same rank as the county magistrate. Each county medical office also has a director who is the same rank as the county magistrate."
Bai Shan blinked and asked, "Do you have so many people available in the Imperial Medical Bureau?"
She curled her lips slightly and said, "Not now, so I will transfer them from somewhere else first."
Because Zhou Man was sent to a remote place in order to find the best way to find a local medical department, the Imperial Medical Bureau would give priority to meeting her requirements.
Zhou Man said, "Students graduate every year. In a few years, with more graduates, local medical offices will have more leeway. Perhaps, in the future, we can have a medical office in every county."
Bai Shan praised her, "Your ambition is good, but have the three provinces and the Ministry of Personnel and the Ministry of Revenue agreed?"
"No," Zhou Man replied decisively. "The Ministry of Personnel was worried about redundancy, the Ministry of Revenue was worried about excessive expenditures, and the Secretariat and the Ministry of Personnel also had their own considerations. Anyway, they simply refused."
"Aren't you angry?"
"I'm not angry," Zhou Man put down his pen, supported his waist, stood up, and moved around the room to stretch his muscles. "Anyway, Xiao Yuanzheng and I didn't expect this to be successful immediately, so we'll bring it up first."
As for her, transferring people is an internal matter of their Imperial Medical Bureau and does not require the consent of the three provinces for the time being, so it will not affect her.
Zhou Man chuckled and said, "So being sent out to other places does have many advantages. If you were in the capital, you would have to apply for permission for every move you make. Even if you didn't apply, you would still be closely watched by the Censorate, which would be very restrictive."
Bai Shan tapped her nose and said with a smile, "What if Dean Xiao doesn't give you anyone? You can only say that because the Imperial Medical Bureau is on your side."
Zhou Man snorted and said, "Even if the Imperial Medical Bureau doesn't give me people, I still have ways. At worst, I can recruit doctors from the public."
Bai Shan: "Where does the money come from?"
Zhou Man thought about it and it was true. The local medical bureau had huge expenses and basically made no money. Without the support of the Imperial Medical Bureau, it would be difficult for her to survive even if she had some people.
She immediately pulled out a chair and sat down. "I remember Xiao Yuanzheng's birthday is coming soon. Well, I need to write him a letter to wish him a happy birthday. What do you think we should give him as a birthday gift?"
Since he relies so much on the Imperial Medical Bureau in the capital, he must maintain a good relationship with Xiao Yuanzheng no matter what.
Bai Shan: ...
He rolled up his sleeves and began grinding ink for her. As he did so, he thought, "When giving a gift, you should cater to the person's taste. Why don't you give him a medical book that he doesn't have?"
Zhou Man pondered for a moment, "Good idea."
Koko has several medical books that she can use. She bought them all from the encyclopedia. She will then pay some points to have the encyclopedia print and bind a copy for her.
Zhou Man wrote a letter to Xiao Yuanzheng to express his greetings.
When it got dark, Bai Shan lit a lamp to provide her with light, then dried the letter she had written and sealed it, then helped her hand and went back to the house.
Xibing and Jiulan had already prepared hot water and helped Zhou Man take a bath first. After she came out with her hair loose, Bai Shan went to take a bath.
When he came out, all the servants in the room had already left. Zhou Man was leaning on a soft pillow, covered with a large fox fur robe, and was flipping through something in his hands.
Bai Shan wiped her hair casually, walked over with her hair draped over her, and squeezed onto the couch to sit next to her.
He took a look at it, found that he didn't quite understand it, and asked, "What is this?"
Zhou Man pondered, how should she tell him that this was the formula for making streptomycin that Mr. Mo had found for her?
But this thing is useless. She has been trying a lot recently, but still can't make it. However, she has become more skilled in making penicillin.
She has recently been thinking about making penicillin in other shapes to change how it is used.
Bai Shan asked casually, and seeing that she seemed immersed in it, he did not disturb her, but directly held her in his arms, pulled the big flag under her neck to prevent her from getting cold, and then put his hand into her clothes and placed it on her belly, quietly feeling the ups and downs. He held her in his arms and closed his eyes to rest, thinking that it was not bad for the three of them to stay like this.
Zhou Man moved, found a more comfortable position to lean on him, and continued to look at the thing in his hand...
I don’t know how long it was before there was a sound of fireworks outside. Zhou Man came back to his senses and turned to look at Bai Shan behind him. He saw that he had fallen asleep leaning against the soft pillow, but one hand was still holding her and the other hand was on her belly.
Zhou Man also felt sleepy. She put the manuscript in her space and hesitated between resting there and going to bed. She finally pushed him awake and said, "Let's go to bed."
Bai Shan forced his eyes open, and seeing her lift up the big banner and about to get off the bed, he was startled and quickly pulled the big banner over to cover her, "Don't, what if you catch a cold?"
He gently pushed Zhou Man aside and got off the couch, then bent down and picked up both him and Da Hui and put them back on the bed. Seeing that the quilt was cold, he turned around and looked for Wu Yue, "Bring two hot water bottles."
Wu Yue quickly poured hot water and brought it over. Bai Shan then carried her to the bed and placed the hot water bottle behind her. He then hugged her whole body, resting his feet on hers. "Why are your feet colder than before? Is it because of the pregnancy?"
Zhou Man nodded, "Yes."
Bai Shan pulled up his trouser legs and asked her to put her feet on his calves. He smiled and said, "It will be warmer this way."
Zhou Man giggled and put both feet on his calves.
Bai Shan touched her belly with one hand and felt the child seemed to kick his hand lightly. His whole heart trembled and his eyes widened instantly, "She, she seemed to kick me."
Zhou Man felt sleepy and found a good position to lie down in his arms. After a dazed response, she said, "She must be angry because I went to bed late and disturbed her sleep."
Bai Shan touched her belly and asked in a low voice, "Is she so angry now?"
Zhou Man responded and said, "The older you get, the bigger your temper becomes."
Bai Shan patted her back gently and said, "Then go to sleep. I'll coax you to sleep."
Once quiet, Zhou Man quickly fell asleep. Bai Shan raised his head slightly and looked down at Zhou Man in his arms. Seeing her mouth slightly open and her little face flushed from sleep, he couldn't help but smile slightly. He touched the bed and made sure she was warm before carefully placing her on the pillow...
Bai Shan tucked her hair behind her ear and let out a breath. Seeing that she was sleeping soundly, he felt a little guilty.
He seemed to be very busy lately, and she was so busy that she couldn't help him.
Bai Shan turned sideways, put one hand on her waist, held her hand with the other, and fell into a deep sleep.
See you tomorrow
