Chapter 620: Poetry Gathering (Additional chapter thanks to the tip from book friend "Al Pacino")
Manbao became excited and asked, "Are there any raw herbs?"
Doctor Ji glanced at her and said, "Most of them are processed. Pharmacies rarely accept raw herbs."
Although Manbao felt a little regretful, he quickly cheered up and said with a smile: "Sir, I will go home first."
"Go, go." Doctor Ji couldn't help but said, "Miss Zhou, oh, no, Manbao, if your husband is free one day, please ask him to come out, let's have dinner together and talk."
Manbao chuckled, thinking he was talking about Mr. Zhuang, so she nodded and said she would mention it to her husband.
It was already very late today. Manbao waved goodbye to Doctor Ji with his backpack on his back. When he walked to the front hall, he found another doctor sitting there treating patients. The doctor looked much younger than Doctor Ji.
Doctor Ji casually introduced: "This is my son."
Manbao greeted him with a bright smile, "Doctor Xiao Ji."
Most of the patients are concentrated in the morning, and there are usually only a few patients in the afternoon, so Doctor Xiao Ji is in charge.
However, Doctor Ji would also rest in the back hall, and if there was an emergency that Doctor Ji could not handle, he could be called.
Shopkeeper Old Zheng stood behind the counter, waved and greeted Manbao with a smile, and watched her and her niece leave.
Doctor Xiao Ji prescribed medicine for the last patient, then looked up at his old father who was standing still. He turned his head to look at the shopkeeper, Old Zheng, who was standing behind the counter and looking at the door. He couldn't help scratching his head, "Dad, who is this young lady?"
Doctor Ji withdrew his gaze, glanced at him and said, "An apprentice."
Are you kidding me? Is it really necessary for you to just watch me leave like this as an apprentice?
Shopkeeper Old Zheng walked over to Doctor Ji and sighed, "I wonder who her husband is. If he could teach her so many medicinal properties and prescriptions, why didn't he teach her to identify the herbs?"
"It's hard to talk about deep things when you're just new to each other. Let's talk about it when we get to know each other better."
Shopkeeper Zheng could only nod regretfully.
Mr. Zhuang was standing at the door. He breathed a sigh of relief when he saw her enter the alley. Then, seeing her running towards him with a basket on her back, Mr. Zhuang pressed his hand to ask her to slow down. "Why are you back so late?"
Manbao wiped the sweat from his forehead and said, "Doctor Ji is disgusted that I can't recognize medicinal herbs, so he wants me to memorize their properties and prescriptions. He said he will teach me to recognize medicinal herbs starting tomorrow."
Mr. Zhuang laughed and said, "You read all the medical books by yourself and memorized them by yourself. You have never really learned anything. You don't even know the medicinal herbs. You need to learn them well."
Mr. Zhuang saw that her voice was a little hoarse, knowing that she had talked too much, so he gestured for her to come into the house and said, "I won't assign you any homework today. Go and have fun."
Manbao was really a little tired, mainly because she had been tense for most of the day, especially when she was memorizing. When she relaxed, she felt a little sleepy. After eating some snacks and drinking water, she couldn't help but go back to her room to sleep.
When Bai Shanbao came back from the provincial school, she had just fallen asleep.
He couldn't help but circle outside her window, "It's only now taking a nap, how can you sleep at night?"
These words seemed to be spoken to Zhou Lijun who was sitting nearby picking vegetables, but also seemed to be spoken to himself. Anyway, after saying this, he immediately went to knock on Manbao's window, determined to wake her up.
Manbao rarely gets grumpy when she wakes up, but she was woken up when she was just sleeping soundly. Her anger suddenly flared up, and she pulled out the pillow from under her head and threw it directly at the window.
The pillow hit the window with a thud. The person outside the window was quiet for a moment, then knocked on the window even more persistently. "Zhou Man, I'm doing this for your own good. It's almost time for dinner, and you're only taking a nap now. Are you going to sleep tonight?"
Manbao was finally forced to get up from the bed by him, and then ran out to chase him and beat him. The two of them ran around the yard twice, and Bai Erlang handed Manbao a stick in a very friendly manner.
Bai Shan was furious when he saw this and shouted, "Bai Er, don't forget that I am your senior brother!"
Manbao shouted, "I'm still your senior sister!"
After saying that, she raised the stick and chased him. Bai Shan ran very fast and almost bumped into Manbao's back. She turned around and chased him again.
Bai Shan: "...Tell me, am I doing this for your own good? Who would take a nap during the day?"
"I don't care. Come here and let me hit you. Otherwise, the anger in my heart will not dissipate."
The adults in the yard didn't care and let them run around the yard. Manbao had an advantage with the stick and was finally satisfied after hitting Baishan.
She breathed a sigh of relief, dropped the stick and sat on the stool to catch her breath.
Bai Shan was also exhausted, so he sat down next to her and asked, "What did you do at noon? Why do you want to take a nap now?"
"I went to the pharmacy."
Bai Shan: "Jishitang actually accepted you?"
"Humph," Manbao said, "I've taken pulses and memorized a lot of cases today."
Speaking of pulse cases, Manbao finally remembered that she hadn't sorted out the pulse cases she had memorized yet. She sighed and said, "Looks like I'll be busy tonight."
Bai Shan said, "I learned a new article today. Do you want to listen?"
Manbao sat on the stool and said, "Can you recite it to me?"
"I didn't memorize it. Forget it. I think it's better to rely on me than you. You still have to go to the bookstore to check the homework," Bai Shan rambled on. "They had a poetry competition in the academy this afternoon. I went to listen and it was just so-so. I think my chances of passing the mid-year exam are still very high."
Manbao said, "I took some notes when the teacher was giving the lecture yesterday. Do you want them?"
Bai Shan: "Yes!"
Manbao went to the study and found the notebook and gave it to him, saying, "Here, I have two more questions written down. I wanted to ask you today, but I'm very sleepy today."
Bai Shanbao flipped it open and laughed out loud, "I know the answer. I'll tell you."
Bai Erlang found it very boring and would rather watch Zhou Lijun pick vegetables than join in their conversation.
Manbao: "Since there is a poetry gathering, why don't you join in?"
Bai Shanbao: "They didn't invite me, and poetry gatherings are just poetry competitions, which is really boring."
Bai Erlang interjected, "I think it's interesting. So many people get together to discuss literature and poetry. It's so fun."
"You want to play with others, not write poetry, right?" Manbao exposed him.
Bai Erlang hummed and said, "I can write poetry too."
Mr. Zhuang smiled and said, "Since you like it, that's even better. I'll take you to a poetry reading in a couple of days when I'm off."
Manbao's eyes lit up, "Sir, where is this poetry gathering?"
"Dear students from Dazhi Academy, haven't you made quite a few friends? They should be here too," Mr. Zhuang said with a smile, "it's a good opportunity for you to go out and have some fun too."
The three of them happily agreed.
Mr. Zhuang continued with a smile, "Since you're going to attend the poetry gathering, you'd better prepare some poems in advance. Well, let's use the themes of lotus and summer as the subject. Each of you should write two poems."
Three people: ...Is it too late to regret now?
