Chapter 634 Getting Married (Part 2)
Manbao returned the bones with the marrow sucked out and the meat gnawed off to the kitchen. Xiao Qian was coordinating everything in the kitchen, with Zhou Liulang and Datou following her.
Because they have experience in running a restaurant, they work together very well and are the ones who basically cook all the main dishes.
Xiao Qian watched Zhou Liulang add salt and asked him to add a little. When she turned around and saw Manbao, she took a small bowl from a pot and placed it on a small tray for her. "This is pig brain. People say that eating what you eat nourishes you. Come and eat it."
Manbao didn't want to take it, mainly because she didn't seem to be short of pig brains, but after smelling the smell, Manbao swallowed, sniffed, and asked, "Sister-in-law, what did you add to it?"
"I didn't add anything, just a piece of ginger and some salt and oil. Try it and see if it tastes good. I think it's even more tender than tofu and delicious."
Manbao reached out and took it.
When she came out of the kitchen, she saw Bai Shan and the others coming in. Manbao took two more bowls and two spoons and asked them to go to her room together.
Manbao's room is separated from the inner and outer rooms by a screen.
Because there were many guests today, the doors of the rooms were locked. Manbao handed the tray to Bai Shan, opened the door with the key, and then generously divided the bowl of pig brain into three portions. "This is made by my sister-in-law. It's very delicious. If you don't believe me, you can try it."
Bai Shan and Bai Erlang both knew Xiao Qian's cooking skills and had been eating it for many years. Upon hearing this, they immediately picked up a spoon and took a spoonful. After taking a bite, their eyes lit up slightly.
Manbao placed his hands on the table, looked at them expectantly and asked, "How is it? Is it delicious?"
They both nodded vigorously, "Delicious, melts in your mouth, salty and flavorful, very delicious, what is this?"
Bai Shan tasted it carefully and said, "It tastes a bit like tofu pudding, but it's more fragrant and has a springy texture."
When Manbao heard this, she immediately picked up the spoon and took a bite. She tasted it carefully and nodded repeatedly, saying, "Yes, yes, it's really delicious."
Bai Erlang was already immersed in eating, but Bai Shan couldn't help but look up at her, "You haven't eaten it?"
Manbao bit the spoon and winked at him.
Bai Shan was speechless for a moment and asked, "What is this?"
Manbao thought for a while and said, "It must be brain flower." Since it looks like tofu pudding, it must be brain flower.
Bai Shan frowned, "What is brain flower? How come I have never heard of it?"
Manbao chuckled at them and said, "It's just pig brains. Don't you think brain flower sounds better?"
Bai Erlang stopped eating, looked up and asked, "Can you eat pig brains?"
Manbao took a bite and asked, "If we can eat pig's feet, why can't we eat pig's brain?"
Bai Erlang thought about it and felt that this was a good idea, so he lowered his head and continued eating.
Bai Shan didn’t know what the relationship was between pig’s feet and pig’s brain, but the brain was indeed delicious, so he didn’t worry about it.
When San Ya came over, they had just finished eating the brain flower. "Aunt, grandma asked you to take the young masters to the table."
Manbao responded and took the two of them to the front to eat.
In order not to make them feel uncomfortable, the three of them sat at the same table with the Qian family.
Uncle Qian and the others were a little reserved, but fortunately Bai Shan and the others were not very hungry, so they were full quickly. Not to mention Manbao, she had not been hungry all day, so she only picked up her chopsticks and ate some dishes.
When they heard the crackling sound of firecrackers outside, the three of them immediately put down their chopsticks and rushed out.
Outside, several people were already shouting, "The groom is here, the groom is here..."
"Oh my god, the groom actually came on a horse. Where did the horse come from?"
"Guan Xin is a soldier. Is this something he borrowed from the barracks?"
"As for the horse, it's the only one in Qili Village."
"That's nothing. Manbao has already ridden in the carriage."
"How can they be the same? Manbao is a scholar, and Daxi is getting married. In the whole Qili Village, which family has a horse to pick up their daughter when she gets married? It's good enough to have an ox cart. Who doesn't have a donkey to carry their children away?"
Manbao wasn't interested in the horses at all; she was interested in the groom. After rushing out and seeing Guan Xin, she immediately called her nephews and nieces over and lined up. She stood at the front and said, "Brother-in-law, I know you can't write, and I won't ask you to compose poetry or anything. Just jump over us. If you can, we won't even ask for a red envelope. We'll just open the door and let you in."
Guan Xin had just gotten off the horse and his smile froze before he could even express his joy.
At the front, Manbao led a group of nephews and nieces to line up in two rows. The youngest, Wutou and Liutou, stood at the front, followed by Sitou and Sanya, and so on to the end according to age and height.
Datou and Daya stood at the back and looked up at Guan Xinle.
Guan Xin looked at their heights and the length of their formation, and after a moment of silence, he said, "Can I give them red envelopes?"
Manbao looked at him suspiciously, "You really can't jump?"
Of course, she wouldn't give her future brother-in-law a hard time for no reason. Before this, she had specifically asked Daji, and Daji said that even if they were lined up in a row, he could still jump over them...
Even if Guan Xin is a little worse, he is still a veteran, right? There should be no problem, right?
Guan Xin looked at his nephews and nieces tomorrow and thought to himself: It's possible, but the situation today is special. What if he fails?
Oh no, did I slip?
After this fall, does he still want to get married?
Guan Xin fished out a handful of red envelopes from his sleeve, squatted down, and smiled at the five and six heads standing in the front row, "Come on, five and six, let your uncle give you some red envelopes, okay?"
The fifth and sixth heads already knew how to catch red envelopes. As soon as they saw the red envelope, they immediately rushed over and hugged Guan Xin's big arms.
The other nephews and nieces couldn't help but look at Manbao, and Manbao sighed and nodded slightly to them.
Everyone rushed forward to grab the red envelopes, and happily pretended to stop Guan Xin until the adults in the yard spoke and then let Guan Xin in.
Guan Xin walked to his father-in-law and mother-in-law with difficulty. Little Qian helped Zhou Xi out. The two of them bid farewell to Old Zhou and Qian together, listened to a lot of instructions, and then Zhou Dalang stepped forward and carried Zhou Xi out on his back.
Guan Xin rode a horse himself and then hired a sedan chair. Zhou Dalang had seen wedding sedan chairs before, but this was the first time for a family member to ride in one.
He carefully placed his eldest sister in the sedan chair, then turned around and waved to his brothers. Zhou Erlang then led three, four, five, and six others forward to protect the sedan chair.
Manbao wanted to follow, but was stopped by Xiao Qianshi. "This is your second brother's job. Why are you joining in the fun?"
When Guan Xin's comrades who had come with him to welcome the bride saw him, they secretly said to him, "Why did you choose such a family for your wife? She has six brothers. You will be a grandson in the future."
Guan Xin glanced at them and said, "What do you know? My father-in-law's family is reasonable."
"The father-in-law's family is reasonable, but this woman may not be." A fellow married man said with deep sympathy: "When the woman in the house starts to make a fuss, do you think your father-in-law will side with the daughter or the son-in-law?"
