Chapter 644 Copying Books

Chapter 644 Copying Books

Manbao asked in a low voice, "Is there a copy of the Shui Jing Zhu?"

"The third floor is filled with very precious books. I am not qualified to go up there, not even to look at the catalog, so..." Bai Shan spread his hands and looked at Manbao.

Manbao understood and followed Bai Shan's force to a row of bookshelves. He whispered, "Look, there may be a book in here that you want to copy."

Manbao broke away from Bai Shan's hand, walked into the bookshelf, and reached out to touch the neatly arranged books on it.

She had seen many of these books in bookstores, but had only flipped through a few of them and had not read the others.

But she wanted to buy them all, but she just didn't dare to spend that much money.

This book is not cheap.

Manbao walked down the bookshelf and looked through all the book titles. In the end, he did not go to the second row of bookshelves, but reached out and took a book, looking at Bai Shan with shining eyes.

Bai Shan smiled at her, took her hand, and took her to sit on the table and chairs not far from the window through which they had come in.

The lighting there is not very good and it is remote, so unless there are a lot of people, few people come here to reserve a seat.

Bai Shan placed his book basket on the table and said in a low voice, "My pen, ink, paper and inkstone are for you to use."

Manbao opened the book basket. Books were not allowed to be brought into the library, but pens, ink, paper and inkstone were allowed. The rest of the things could be left at the door.

She took out Bai Shan's writing brush, ink, paper, and inkstone, and said in a low voice, "When I come again tomorrow, I will bring my own."

Bai Shan nodded.

With Wei Chen's help, Bai Erlang found a row of bookshelves that interested him. The two of them huddled together and talked, then each took out a book.

The two looked at each other and couldn't help laughing.

Wei Chen also came over and winked at Bai Shan, saying, "My ice cream."

"I'll buy it for you."

Bai Shan left them and went out to buy him some ice cream.

Manbao was already holding the book and reading it with great interest. Wei Chen took a look at the cover and curled his lips. What's so good about this book?

Manbao read a few pages first before he picked up his pen to copy them. This way he would be able to write faster and avoid getting stuck.

In the end, Wei Chen finished two ice creams while sitting on the grass outside the library, and then went in to continue reading the miscellaneous books he had selected.

Manbao copied a stack of manuscripts. After the teacher in the library rang the first bell to close the building, she reluctantly collected the manuscripts and returned the books to their original place.

Manbao put the manuscripts and various things into Bai Shan's book basket, and then he and Bai Erlang climbed out of the back window when the second closing bell rang.

Bai Shanze and Wei Chen walked out of the gate openly together.

Mr. Wu, who was in charge of the library, checked their book baskets and let them go.

The four of them arrived at the foot of the west wall. Wei Chen's face flushed red as he let the two men step on him to climb up the wall. He felt like he was being ripped off. He said, "I'm never going to do this again. It's just two ice creams, and I not only let you step down, I also let you step up. Do you want me to keep my shoulders like this if you do it a few more times?"

"Besides," Wei Chen said somewhat unhappily, "this is something only low-class people can do."

"What?" Bai Shan said, "The three of us often step on each other. If we weren't tall enough..."

"That's because you're so bad. There are people in school who are almost as tall as you. They can jump over the wall and jump down safely. There's no problem at all."

When the three heard this, they all turned their eyes to Daji who was standing silently in the back.

Daji was silent, but just jumped up, without even stepping on the wall, he flew directly over the wall and landed steadily outside the wall.

This wall is much shorter than the one at Yan's house, otherwise the students would not be able to climb out from here.

Manbao and Bai Erlang sat on the wall, watching him leap up, then fly over the wall and land on the ground, their mouths wide open.

Although it was not the first time to see Daji flying so handsomely, this was the first time to see him from this angle, and the two of them were amazed.

After being amazed, Manbao obediently moved his other leg outside, then jumped off the wall, fell on the straw, and climbed down.

Bai Erlang did the same. The two of them shook off the straw on their bodies, cleaned themselves up, and climbed onto the carriage. Daji drove the carriage straight forward, turned a corner, and went around half of the academy before returning to the gate. Bai Shan was already waiting at the door with a basket of books.

As soon as Bai Shan got in the car, Manbao and Bai Erlang winked at him frantically.

Bai Shan understood what they meant. He nodded at the two of them and looked outside. He was outside now. He would talk about it when he got back.

As soon as he returned to the courtyard, Manbao didn't even have time to sort out the manuscripts he had copied today. He ran directly into the kitchen, poured a cup of hot tea for Daji, and said attentively: "Daji, you have worked hard today."

Bai Shan brought a plate of snacks to Daji, "This is your favorite sweet-scented osmanthus cake, here you go."

Bai Erlang said, "Daji, I'll be relying on you to pick me up and drop me off at school. I'll give you a big red envelope during the Mid-Autumn Festival."

Zhou Silang, who had just returned home from outside, saw what they were doing and was no longer in a hurry to feed the horses. He leaned against the wall and watched them show their courtesy to Daji.

Even the busy cook couldn't help but look sideways.

Zhou Lijun asked directly: "Aunt, what do you want to ask Daji for?"

Manbao laughed at Daji, Bai Erlang also laughed at Daji, and then they both turned their heads to look at Bai Shan.

Bai Shan also grinned at Daji, "Daji, can you teach us how to climb the wall?"

Zhou Lijun's mouth dropped open. Zhou Silang couldn't help but stand up straight and ask, "What kind of story is this? Why don't you walk on the nice road and go climbing over the wall?"

Daji picked up a piece of pastry from the plate, took a bite, and drank half a cup of tea. Seeing that everyone was looking at him quietly, he lowered his eyes and said, "I will listen to Mr. Zhuang."

Manbao and the others subconsciously looked towards the study, only to find that Mr. Zhuang had been standing at the door of the study, looking at them quietly.

The three of them felt uneasy and immediately stood up and saluted.

Mr. Zhuang set his eyes on Bai Shan's book basket and beckoned, "Bring it here and let me see it."

Bai Shan came forward with a basket of books. Mr. Zhuang opened it, walked past the books, and went straight to take the pile of manuscripts at the bottom.

The handwriting on it was obviously Manbao's. He flipped it open and took a look. He nodded slightly and looked at Bai Erlang and asked, "What book did you read today?"

Bai Erlang's skin tensed up, and he said stiffly, "Look, I read a travelogue."

"What's your name?"

Bai Erlang secretly glanced at Manbao beside him. He couldn't make up any more stories, so he whispered, "I read a book called 'Spring River Travels'."

Manbao and Baishan didn't think anything of it, but Mr. Zhuang frowned. "Don't read this kind of fabricated travelogue. If you want to read travelogues, I can recommend a few to you."
