Chapter 65 Your Thoughts
Bai Shanbao took Manbao to his study.
This is the big study, which basically only displays books. He has his own small study, which is just outside the bedroom.
Before he grew up, this study was basically only used for storing books.
But once his family builds the house, he will definitely move out.
The study is in a particularly good location, facing the sun and is spacious. When you push the door open, you will see rows of bookshelves.
There are much more books than Mr. Zhuang’s two rows of bookshelves.
Manbao was amazed. It was the first time she saw so many books. She ran up and could only tilt her head back to look at the bookshelf.
It’s too high, and she can’t reach many bookshelves.
Bai Shanbao was only half a head taller than her, and in that respect they had a lot in common. He whispered to her, "My grandmother said there was gold among the books at home. I searched for it for a long time yesterday and almost forgot to do my homework."
Manbao's eyes sparkled as he asked, "Is there a lot of gold?"
Bai Shanbao thought for a moment and said, "My grandmother has a whole house, so there should be a lot."
The system was trying to scan which book the gold was hidden in: ...
Seeing the two children already rummaging through the books with great interest, the system couldn't help but ask, "Host, ask him if his grandmother said that there is a golden house in books?"
Manbao asked Shanbao.
Shan Bao nodded vigorously, "That's right, there's a whole golden house in my family's books."
He had his own little scheme. He hadn't told his mother and grandmother about what happened yesterday, but he was willing to share it with Manbao. He whispered, "When I find the gold, I'll hide it. From now on, it's my money."
Manbao thought his idea was good and asked him, "Then I'll help you find it. Can you give me some?"
Bai Shanbao said it was no problem, the child had never lacked money since childhood and was very generous.
Seeing the two children forgetting about it again while talking, and Manbao looking like he was about to roll up his sleeves and get to work, the system interrupted and said, "Host, the saying 'Books have their own golden house' means that studying and passing the imperial examinations is an excellent way out. Once you pass the imperial examinations, you will have wealth, honor, and beautiful women."
Manbao was stunned for a moment, and then he relayed this sentence to Bai Shanbao, adding at the end, "I think this sentence is weird, it's different from what you said, sir, I don't like it."
Bai Shanbao is concerned about, "So there is no gold in my family's books?"
Manbao said, "Go ask your grandma."
Bai Shanbao took Manbao with him.
Datou was left in the living room by Liu to eat snacks and chat, so Bai Shanbao quickly found his grandmother and asked her, only to find out that what Manbao said was true.
Mrs. Liu didn't expect her grandson to come to his senses so quickly. She couldn't help but take another look at the little girl standing next to him. What a smart child.
She said to Bai Shanbao, "This saying was said by an ancestor. It means that there is a wealth of knowledge in books. If you master this knowledge, whether you want wealth, fertile land, a large house, or beautiful women in the future, they will all come to you. You say you want to make money, but you are only five or six years old now. You can't lift anything with your hands or shoulders, you are not good at reading or arithmetic. How can you make money at your age?"
"It's better to settle down and study hard, learn knowledge, and when you grow up, wealth will come naturally."
Bai Shanbao was very sad, thinking that the gold he had obtained had flown away like that. He did not listen to what his grandmother said and turned around and ran away.
Manbao hurried to follow.
Zheng was worried and was about to chase him, but Liu stopped her and said, "Let him go. He'll figure it out if he thinks about it."
She was really afraid of what her daughter-in-law would say next. This family is all about you.
Bai Shanbao ran back to the study, squatted on the ground, and cried bitterly. Manbao was very happy, thinking that what Grandma Liu said was much better than what Keke said. She said to Keke, "This sentence should mean what Grandma Liu said."
The data within the system circulated rapidly. "Host, historically, this statement should have been made by Zhao Heng. Regardless of whether it is true or not, based on the host's current productivity, this statement should not have appeared."
The system played the entire poem in which this sentence appeared and showed it to Manbao.
Manbao read it once and was disgusted. "Is this considered poetry?"
Although she had not read poetry for a long time, she knew the most basic rhythm and could feel whether a poem was good or not. She felt that this poem was not good.
The system said, "It's not good. Some people say it's not even as good as doggerel. But the person who wrote the poem was an emperor, so it has been passed down."
The system scanned the book data in the study again and said to Manbao, "At this time, the emperor has not appeared yet."
Manbao didn't care about that. She just squatted down and comforted Shanbao, "Don't be sad. The person who said this is not very capable, so what he said may not be right. Let's not think about studying to make money, let's start earning it now."
Bai Shanbao raised his head and looked at her with red eyes, "How do you earn it?"
"Pick up the Centella asiatica. Come with me and pick some. After you dry it, let my fourth brother take it to the pharmacy and sell it. That way you'll have money."
Bai Shanbao felt that she was right. He couldn't just listen to his grandmother. He wiped his tears and said, "I won't study anymore. This way I can have more time to pick Centella asiatica."
Manbao looked at him in surprise, "Why don't you study?"
She hesitated for a moment and then asked, "Are you really short of money? If so, I can lend you some, but you have to pay me back when you earn money."
Bai Shanbao was stunned, scratched his head and said, "I don't seem to be short of money."
"If you don't need money, why don't you study?"
"You didn't say that. My grandmother might not be right. Can't you make money by studying?"
Manbao said, "Even if studying doesn't make money, it still makes you happy and wise. Are you studying just to make money?"
Bai Shanbao really didn't know why he was studying. He thought for a moment and said, "My mother said I was studying to bring honor to our family. My grandmother said I was studying to inherit my father's ambition."
Manbao looked at him, Shanbao looked at her, and the two children sat on the floor leaning against the bookshelf and looked at each other.
Manbao could only tell him why she was studying.
"I find reading very enjoyable. I can learn a lot of things that others don't know, and I can also read many interesting stories from books," Manbao said. "The teacher said that reading can enlighten people. I want to be a person who understands reason, so I read."
Manbao told Bai Shanbao, "You have to think about why you want to study. My parents secretly told me that if I studied, they would marry me off to live a good life in the countryside. But I didn't want to marry into the countryside, and I didn't tell them."
Manbao said, "We should listen to adults, but we shouldn't listen to everything they say. My friend said that what adults say may not always be right, so you have to have your own ideas."
You have to have your own ideas!
This was the first time Bai Shanbao had heard this. Since he was a child, his grandmother, mother, and teacher had all told him why he should study and what he should do. No one had ever allowed him to have his own ideas.
He wanted to climb a tree, but they wouldn't let him. He wanted to play in the water, but they wouldn't let him. He wanted to sleep in, but they wouldn't let him either. Since he was a child, they hadn't allowed him to have any ideas.
Of course, you should listen to your parents and friends of the same age!
Bai Shanbao's eyes sparkled and he began to think with his little head.
I will add more recommendation votes tomorrow. I am too tired today.
