Chapter 993: A pleasant conversation (a reward for the book friend "Day Day Up")
Yin Huo wiped the corner of his mouth with a handkerchief, covered the bamboo tube, and when he looked up, he met Bai Erlang's wide-open eyes.
Bai Erlang looked at him, sniffed the medicinal scent in the air, and asked with a bitter face, "You're just drinking it like this, isn't it bitter?"
Yin Huo said indifferently: "I'm used to it."
Bai Erlang rummaged through his pockets and pulled out a purse. He took out a candy from it and gave it to him. "Do you want to sweeten your mouth?"
Yin Huo took a look at the candy in his hand, took it, peeled it, ate it, and asked, "I've never eaten candy this sweet. Where did you buy it?"
"Manbao bought it. She still has a big jar saved. But she doesn't like sweets, so she basically shared it all with us." Bai Erlang thought for a moment and said, "If you like it, I'll ask her for some for you later."
Bai Erlang didn't take this too seriously. He turned around and talked to Bai Shan, "Tell me, if I kneel down as soon as I get home, will the master stop beating me?"
Bai Shan said: "You can try."
"Then where do you think I should kneel?"
Bai Shan thought for a moment and said, "The study, the master must be in the study right now. The sun is so strong, if you kneel in the yard, you will be sunburned to death in less than two quarters of an hour."
Bai Erlang hesitated, "How about a self-torture trick? Just like what they say in the storybooks, kneeling in the yard, and then it rains or something, it looks very miserable."
"...If you don't take care of your body, I think the master will be even more angry and beat you up again." Bai Shan said, "Besides, where can we get you rain now?"
"How come the protagonists in the storybooks are so magical? I've read several of them, and whenever they kneel, it rains or snows. It never fails."
Yin Huo couldn't help but ask, "What storybook are you reading?"
"What about 'Deep Love' and 'The Grudge in the Harem'? There are so many of them. I bought them all with Manbao. Do you want to read them?"
Bai Shan was unable to stop him and could only look at Yin Huo suspiciously, "You don't have enough energy, can you read the storybook?"
Yin Huo said, "A storybook is also a book. I have nothing to do at home anyway, and reading a book wastes my energy. I might as well read a storybook."
"Wrong!" Bai Erlang held up his intact left hand and said, "Reading a book takes much more energy than reading a storybook. Reading a book requires the brain, but reading a storybook doesn't."
"That's because the story you chose doesn't require any brains. If you have the guts, go read 'Cold Case Solved'."
"Forget it, studying is already taxing enough. Why do you have to make things so difficult for yourself during your spare time?"
Yin Huo watched the two brothers bickering with great interest. It was the first time in his life that he had seen such a way of getting along, and he was stunned for a moment.
The three people in the car forgot the time, but the people outside the car did not forget.
The servant of the Yin family wiped the sweat from his forehead, looked up at the sun, and found that the young master had been in there for half an hour. All the students and cars at the gate of the Imperial College had left, and only occasionally would there be students who stayed in the school walking out in small groups.
Fushou checked the time, pulled Changshou and said, "What are the young masters talking about in the car? If you don't go back now, your family will be worried."
Changshou hesitated for a moment, then walked to the front of the Bai family's car, bowed and whispered, "Master, it's been half an hour, and the old lady is still waiting at home."
The three people in the car realized that a lot of time had passed. Bai Shan said to Yin Huo, "You go back. I'll bring the medicine tomorrow."
Yin Huo nodded and got out of the car.
After watching the Bai family's carriage leave, Yin Huo helped Changshou get into the carriage and said, "Let's go home."
As soon as Yin Huo entered the house, his eldest sister, accompanied by a group of younger sisters, rushed out from the inner courtyard to greet him. Upon seeing him, she glared at the servants waiting behind him and angrily demanded, "Where did you go to pick someone up? Don't you know your family is worried?"
Changshou and others knelt on the ground.
Yin Huo didn't care. He turned around and handed the book basket in his hand to Changshou who was kneeling on the ground. Changshou immediately got up and took it.
Yin Huo then asked Sister Yin, "When did you come?"
Sister Yin softened her voice when she spoke to Yin Huo. She pulled him aside and said, "I came here before lunch. I thought you wouldn't be home, and without anyone to eat with, Grandma would be lonely, so I came."
She paused and then asked, "Little brother, I heard that you asked someone to send something to Changqing Lane yesterday?"
The Bai family lived in Changqing Lane, and currently, they were the only family involved in Changqing Lane. Yin Huo nodded and explained softly, "Sister, he and I weren't arguing. It was our family that was wrong about what happened before, so I wanted to send some things over. Didn't Grandma say that it's better to resolve a feud than to create one?"
"Is their family just accepting it like this?"
Yin Huo nodded, a faint smile on his face, "Yes, so we became friends. I came back late today because we talked together."
Sister Yin couldn't help but feel lucky, and suppressed her displeasure and said, "Little brother, you have been deceived. Their family must have known your identity, and they are deliberately trying to please you."
Yin Huo seemed not to hear, he pulled his hand out of Sister Yin's and went to the main courtyard.
Although Sister Yin was not very happy, she knew that her brother had always been like this. Sometimes he just didn't listen to people, as if he had blocked out the whole world. No matter who spoke, he couldn't hear anything.
I don't know whether he is really sick or faking it.
Sister Yin followed.
Yin Huo ignored the sisters along the way and went straight to her grandmother's yard to pay her respects.
Seeing him come back, Old Lady Yin breathed a sigh of relief and took his hand and asked, "Why are you back so late today?"
Yin Huo said, "I just chatted with my friend for a few minutes, and before I knew it, time had flown by."
Old Madam Yin was surprised and asked, "You have made a friend. Whose child is it?"
Yin Huo said: "It's Bai Shan from the same class, and his junior brother and senior sister."
Madam Yin smiled and nodded, saying, "Okay, okay, this is a saying that goes, 'No fight, no acquaintance.' From now on, you must get along well with others and don't argue easily."
Yin or nodded.
Sister Yin interrupted, "Grandma, what kind of friend is that? He's from a poor family. I guess he sees our little brother's noble background and his innocence, so he's trying to curry favor with him."
"Nonsense," Old Madam Yin glared at her and said, "The Bai family is also the descendants of meritorious officials, so how can they be considered commoners?"
Old Lady Yin took Yin Huo in her arms and said with a smile, "Since they are your friends, please invite them to dinner next time we have a feast. Also, if they need any help, come back and tell me, and I will help you."
Yin Huo nodded obediently and said, "Grandma, I'm going back to my room first."
"Go, go. The wind will be strong during dinner time, so you don't need to come. Eat and rest for a while, then drink the medicine."
Yin Huo agreed, bowed, and turned to leave.
The next update will be around 11:30 pm. It’s very late, let’s go to bed first.
