Chapter 37 A Family of Six

She touched the bedding beneath her again; it felt a little uncomfortable. When she lifted it, she found it was covered with peanuts and red dates.

I've heard that wealthy families do indeed have this custom.

It symbolizes the wish that the bride will give birth to a son soon.

In such a short time, I didn't expect my aunt to prepare so well, giving her an unforgettable wedding banquet.

Shi Xiaohe's heart softened.

This home is even better than she imagined. Could it be that God also felt that she had suffered in the first half of her life, and that's why He let her marry into her aunt's family to enjoy happiness?

"Sister-in-law, I am Guihua. Do you remember me? We used to pick mushrooms together when we were little. This is Lamei, my fourth sister."

Suddenly, two girls, about the same age as her, entered the room.

Only after hearing Guihua's introduction did Shi Xiaohe realize that they were her sister-in-law.

The two of them are really good-looking, they look just like my aunt.

"Hello, I'm Shi Xiaohe, and I'm also your... um... sister-in-law..."

Shi Xiaohe blushed slightly; she hadn't gotten used to this new identity yet.

"Mom sent us to keep you company, afraid you'd be bored. Sister-in-law, tell us how you taught yourself embroidery?"

Winter plum blossoms are more lively than osmanthus blossoms.

At this moment, she was already sitting on the bed, clinging to Shi Xiaohe's arm and acting coquettishly.

"Okay, Guihua, come sit here too, I have something to tell you..."

Shi Xiaohe smiled.

The three of them sat on the bed and started chatting.

In the kitchen, Yan Xia was in a flurry of activity, her spatula practically smoking from the effort. Luckily, there were only two tables; if there had been ten, she probably would have died on the spot.

Exhausted to the point of sudden death.

Next time Jinlu gets married, she should hire someone to cook.

I can't take it anymore.

Fortunately, Sister Zhao and the village head's wife came to help her.

We were busy until noon when all the dishes for the two large tables and one small table were served. We even had to borrow bowls and chopsticks from Sister Zhao's house because we didn't have enough.

Yan Xia handed two small wine glasses to Jin Lu and asked him to take them to Jin Fu's bridal chamber.

The newlyweds sat on a bed.

Matchmaker Xu poured a cup for each of them.

"Having drunk the nuptial wine, the newlyweds may be together forever—"

After saying these flattering words, Jin Fu and Shi Xiaohe downed their drinks in one gulp.

Then they left the house.

We sat at the head table, ready to begin the meal.

During this time, many people tried to force Jin Fu to drink, but Jin Lu refused them all.

So before he finished his meal, Jinlu was already as drunk as a toad.

Helpless, Yan Xia had someone carry him into the room.

No one knew that Jinlu did this for his own sake. In the morning, Jinfu talked to him, saying that good brothers should help each other, and that on the day of Jinlu's wedding, Jinfu would be the one to drink on his behalf.

At the banquet, only Old Master Shi was missing; it wasn't that Yan Xia didn't invite him.

However, as a member of the bride's family, the Shi family patriarch was not allowed to attend the banquet; that was the rule.

However, Yan Xia was very thoughtful. She prepared four dishes and a soup separately and had Jin Lu deliver them to the Shi family.

When Jinlu returned, she told her that the old master of the Shi family was much better and praised Yanxia for her delicious cooking.

He also said that when he returns to his parents' home tomorrow, he will personally cook for his grandson-in-law.

The banquet lasted until the afternoon.

Both tables of food were eaten clean.

Before leaving, the women stayed behind to help clean up the mess, while the men helped return the tables and chairs borrowed from the Yan family to the Qian family.

On the contrary, Yan Xia, as the master, didn't have to do anything.

After seeing off the guests, Yan Xia couldn't go to sleep yet, because Shi Xiaohe's mother had passed away early and couldn't teach her how to have sex before the wedding.

Yan Xia had no choice but to go to her daughter-in-law's room, send her son to wash up, and talk to Shi Xiaohe for a long time.

They didn't leave until they had made Shi Xiaohe's face look like a monkey's bottom.

After completing her task, she dragged her exhausted body back to her room and fell asleep as soon as she lay down on the bed.

I slept soundly until dawn.

Here, the return visit to the bride's parents' home is not three days later, but rather the day after the wedding.

Yan Xia hurriedly got up and gave her daughter-in-law the three things she had bought in advance: brown sugar, pastries, and candied fruit, so that she could take them back to her parents' home.

We didn't buy much, after all, Grandpa Shi is getting old, so it was just a formality.

"Thank you, Mother. Will we come back for lunch?"

Shi Xiaohe didn't understand any of this, so she looked at Yan Xia.

“No need. When Jinlu delivered the vegetables to your grandfather yesterday, the old man said he wanted to show off his cooking skills. Come back after you finish eating. There’s no rush. Spend more time with your grandfather. Anyway, it’s close by. You can go back whenever you want. You know me, we don’t follow these rules in our family. Relax. This is your home too. Live your life here the same way you live at home.”

Seeing her daughter-in-law's uncomfortable demeanor, Yan Xia figured she was probably just not used to it.

I patiently gave them a few more instructions.

"Thank you, Mother. Jinfu and I will head back now."

After hearing these words, Shi Xiaohe felt much more relaxed. The couple walked side by side towards the door, looking much closer than yesterday. Yan Xia shifted her gaze to Shi Xiaohe's lower body and noticed that she was walking a little strangely.

I understood it instantly.

Although she's never been in a relationship, she's at least seen how things work.

Did she watch all those adult films for nothing?

LOL.

She can get a perfect score on any test!

After the eldest son got married, the family became a family of six.

"Guihua, go to the kitchen and get an extra bowl. Remember to cook more rice next time."

"I know, Mom. My older brother took it out this morning."

The osmanthus blossoms smiled endlessly.

"This boy is quite considerate. I thought he had fallen in love with Yuefang at first sight. Haha, it turns out I was just being delusional. If I had known, I should have overturned the table when the Zhao family asked for five taels of silver as a bride price. They were really asking for the moon."
