Chapter 15: It's because you don't have money, not me.

Lin Jiujiu raised an eyebrow upon hearing this.

"Wrong."

Lin Luo didn't understand what Lin Jiujiu meant by those words.

The next moment, Lin Jiujiu explained to him.

"It's you who doesn't have it, not us."

He then pushed Lin Luo's hand away and strode towards the restaurant.

Lin Luo didn't understand what she meant, but since her sister had already gone inside, she could only follow.

And the little boy, being led by him, started jogging along.

It was clearly not mealtime yet.

The waiter in the restaurant was still wiping the tables and chairs when he was genuinely surprised to see someone come in.

Then, he greeted her with a smile.

"What would you like to eat, sir? We have everything here."

As he spoke, he led the way to a seat by the window in the room.

Lin Jiujiu didn't move her feet, but instead glanced at the second-floor corridor.

"Are there any private rooms upstairs? Please give me a quiet one."

The waiter glanced at the group, but didn't look down on them; he still politely led them upstairs.

Fortunately, restaurants in ancient times did not have a minimum charge. Lin Jiujiu estimated the three people's appetites and ordered two meat dishes, two vegetable dishes, and a soup.

Finally, I asked the waiter when the food would be served. I learned that the kitchen hadn't started cooking yet and it would take at least half an hour, so I ordered two more dim sum dishes and tea.

Have the waiter serve the tea and snacks first; the meal can be prepared slowly.

Lin Luo watched as she ordered so many items without even blinking.

My heart was pounding so hard it felt like it was going to jump out of my throat.

The money is being spent like water; will they have enough to pay the bill later?

Could it be that after this meal, he'll be going to jail?

Lin Jiujiu wasn't unaware of his concerns, but she had no intention of explaining.

Not long after, the waiter came in with tea and snacks.

Lin Jiujiu took a small sip and then stepped back in front of the two of them.

"Eat less, there will be other dishes later, save some room."

Seeing that the two had almost finished eating, Lin Jiujiu finally spoke.

"Please wait here for a moment. I'll be right back."

Lin Luo almost choked on the pastry in her mouth when she heard this.

Lin Jiujiu reluctantly handed over a cup of tea. Lin Luo managed to swallow the snacks with the tea before asking in a horrified tone.

"Second sister, you're not planning to leave us here to pay off our debts, are you?"

Lin Jiujiu glared at him, annoyed.

"With your skinny appearance, no one would want you even if you were sold. How much would you be worth?"

Lin Jiujiu ignored him and instead spoke to the little boy Lin Xichen.

"Keep an eye on your uncle, make sure he doesn't choke to death, then push the door open and leave."

When they got downstairs, they even called over the waiter and gave him some instructions.

"I'm going out to take care of some things. My brother and son will stay here with you for the time being. Don't let them leave until I get back."

As he spoke, he took out a few copper coins from his sleeve and handed them over.

This is considered a reward for him.

The waiter accepted the reward and quickly thanked him.

"Thank you for your kindness, Madam. I will remember your words and will definitely take good care of my young master and young master."

Lin Jiujiu nodded before leaving the restaurant.

After she left, another person dressed similarly to him appeared behind the waiter.

Looking in the direction Lin Jiujiu left, he couldn't help but sigh.

"You really can't judge a book by its cover. She was dressed in rags, but I didn't expect her to be so generous."

Lin Jiujiu didn't give much. Her father gave her a total of twelve copper coins, of which she kept two and gave the remaining twenty coins as a tip.

Don't underestimate this small amount of money; it's equivalent to half a day's wages for them, so how could the waiter not be happy?

After leaving the restaurant, Lin Jiujiu slipped into an alley, looked around carefully, and, finding no one there, slipped into her spatial dimension.

When she came out again, she had changed her makeup.

What was once a simple village girl has become a frail old woman.

He was hunched over, and held a bamboo cane in his hand.

Lin Jiujiu coughed three times as she walked out of the alley.

Her target was a pharmacy not far away.

Lin Jiujiu portrayed an old woman perfectly.

The fact that it looked like it could fall down at any moment and never get up again drew gasps of amazement from the people sitting by the half-open window on the second floor of a teahouse not far away.

"Baili, your mortal wife is no ordinary woman."

The person opposite him gave him a cold, sidelong glance.

He saw it, so why should he remind himself?

Lin Jiujiu, who was originally focused on pretending to be an old woman, seemed to sense something. She kept her head down and continued walking. After taking two more steps forward, she secretly made a hand gesture with the hand holding her cane and flicked it in the direction where she was being spied on.

Baili was leisurely drinking tea when suddenly a strange light flashed in his eyes. He flicked his finger, and a water arrow shot out, severing the indistinct cause and effect from himself.

Last night, he had already witnessed Lin Jiujiu dealing with the Xiao family members, and knew that she could live well even without him, so he did not plan to show his face again.

After all, it's not really appropriate for someone who's already dead to reappear.

I never expected to run into you in the county town today, and to witness such a wonderful costume show.

What surprised her even more was that she actually knew these esoteric techniques.

He originally thought that no one in the mortal world should know about cultivation.

Now he was even more interested in his widow.

Lin Jiujiu wanted to figure out who was secretly watching her, but she didn't rashly look up to check.

To her surprise, she never imagined she would make a mistake.
