Chapter 46 was insulted

Lin Jiujiu went out to buy some furniture for the new house, nothing else. Since Lin Xiaomei wanted to go, it was fine to bring her along.

After all, it's the same whether you raise one child or two.

However, this means she'll need to bring another person along to help take care of the two children.

As for expecting Lin Xiaomei to take care of Xiaodouding, forget it. That girl is too playful; it would be good enough if she didn't get lost herself.

When Lin's mother came out of the house and heard Lin Xiaomei's words, she immediately scolded her.

"Your second sister went out on important business. What's the point of you coming along?"

Lin Xiaomei pointed to the little boy on the side, dissatisfied.

“Bao’er is still with us, so why can’t I go?”

Little Bean looked at Lin Jiujiu with some embarrassment after hearing Lin Xiaomei's words.

Then, very sensibly, he took Lin Xiaomei's hand and said...

"Auntie, Bao'er isn't going either. How about Bao'er stays home with you?"

Even so, her eyes were filled with deep reluctance when she looked at Lin Jiujiu.

Originally, he and his mother lived in a small, dilapidated house, and when they had no food to eat, his mother always stayed by his side.

But now that life is better, his mother has become busy, and he hasn't spent much time alone with her in a long time.

He was overjoyed that his mother was finally going to take him to the county town.

But he couldn't be so insensible as to cause his mother trouble.

Seeing how sensible he was, Lin's mother felt even more sorry for him.

He slapped Lin Xiaomei on the back of the head, still scolding her as he spoke.

"You've wasted your life at such an old age, you're so immature, you're not even as good as Bao'er."

Little White, who was happily frolicking around, felt insulted. Although it wasn't a dog, the Lin family all thought it was.

Lin Xiaomei also felt wronged. Xiaodouding had already been to the county town once before, but she had never been there before. She just wanted to see it for herself, so what?

Seeing that her mother was about to scold Lin Xiaomei, Lin Jiujiu quickly spoke up to stop her.

“Mother, it’s alright. If my little sister wants to go, we can all go together. Not just my little sister, but you, Father, eldest brother and sister-in-law, second brother and third brother, we’ll all go together.”

When Lin's mother heard that she wanted to take the whole family to the county town, she quickly waved her hand.

"No, no, there are still a lot of things to do at home. What would it look like if they all left?"

After Lin's mother finished speaking, she thought for a moment and realized that since Jiu Jiu had asked them to come along, there might be something she needed their help with, so she quickly changed her mind.

"How about your sister-in-law and I stay home and watch the house, and your father takes your brothers to accompany you?"

Lin Jiujiu couldn't help but laugh when she saw her like this.

“Mother, I’m going to the county town to buy some things for the new house and furniture for each person’s room. If you don’t come with me, how will we know what to buy and what not to buy?”

Lin's mother hesitated when she heard this. After all, no one knew these things better than her. If she let her daughter buy things randomly, who knew how many useless things she would end up with? Wouldn't that be a waste?

Just as Lin's mother was thinking that it might be better to let the old man stay home and look after the house, she heard Lin Jiujiu say something else.

"Dad has to go too. We don't know anything about choosing furniture and stuff, so Dad has to take a look first."

Lin's mother was speechless.

That's how the family decided to go to the city together to shop.

At the same time, she was secretly planning that she would need to buy a horse-drawn carriage to take her trip to the county town.

These days, the family has been making many trips to town to buy things, mostly by borrowing oxcarts from foreman Jiang and his colleagues, which is really inconvenient.

The reason I didn't mention it before was because even if I bought livestock, there was no place to keep them at home, and it would be too much trouble to build a separate shed for them.

Now, the basic shape of the yard has been taken out, and a small yard has been set up separately for parking and raising livestock, so there is no worry about not having a place to put them after buying them.

The only disagreement arose over whether to buy a horse-drawn carriage or an oxcart.

Lin Luo and a few of the younger ones thought the horse-drawn carriage was better, as it looked more upscale; while Lin's father, mother, and Lin Ze thought the oxcart was more practical.

After all, the family now owns a lot of land, and with cattle, farming will be much easier in the future.

Lin Jiujiu did not participate in their argument, after all, in her opinion, it was no big deal.

"Why not just buy one for each of us? It won't cost much anyway."

Lin's mother was also taken aback when she heard her mother's boastful words.

"We can't waste money like this. Even if you have some money, you have to be careful with it. There's still a long way to go."

As Lin's mother spoke, she glanced again at Baili Chenyuan, who was sitting on the carriage shaft helping them drive.

She was afraid that if he heard Lin Jiujiu's words, he would think that she was too bad at managing her life and thus become dissatisfied.

Lin Jiujiu saw the look in her mother's eyes and was speechless.

Finally, she said helplessly, "Mother, have you forgotten? I just earned ten thousand taels of silver not long ago."

Lin Jiujiu wanted to say that it was ten thousand taels, not one thousand or one hundred taels.

Let alone a horse-drawn carriage or an oxcart, she could afford to buy one for a hundred taels of silver these days.

Moreover, she has many other ways to make money, so she doesn't have to worry about running out of money.

Before Lin's mother could finish speaking, she covered her mouth and said with a look of disapproval.

"You silly girl, you can't even keep your mouth shut! You say whatever comes to mind. Don't you know you shouldn't flaunt your wealth?"

After saying that, he nervously looked around, leaving her speechless.

Sitting next to Baili Chenyuan, Tantai Yueming was also speechless. He couldn't understand why he, the dignified royal uncle of the Great Yan, had fallen to the point of driving a carriage for this family.
