Chapter 92 Recuperation [Revised]
"...That's the situation right now."
In the Blade & Soul room, Li Chang'an lay on a recliner by the window. After finishing what had just happened, he completely collapsed onto the recliner.
Although his physical wounds had healed, the damage to his soul was still too severe. The pain seemed to be able to tear his body apart, so he barely managed to get up and say so much in the sword spirit's room, which almost exhausted his strength.
When he arrived, the sword spirit was meditating and cultivating behind the screen.
The room was large. The sword spirit had created a quiet space on the left side using a screen, facing another wooden window. Outside was a bamboo forest, where he cultivated every day.
"The tea spirit's cultivation is far superior to yours. He harvested more than double the amount using the mountain god's antlers," the sword spirit's explanation came from behind the screen.
"Although the spirits in the immortal mountains can help you with farming, the mission and rules left by the Boundless God do not allow you to leave the entire process to other spirits."
Li Chang'an responded with an "Oh".
He was forced to lie down for at least six months. If he asked the tea spirit or the mandrill for help during that time, the tea spirit would be left to handle several rounds of farming.
No wonder the restriction was triggered.
Li Chang'an smiled and turned to look at the screen. "Then you help me."
The tone wasn't one of discussion, but rather like a simple, ordinary notification.
The sword spirit remained silent for a moment, then stepped out from behind the screen with a blank expression.
Li Chang'an instantly lay half-dead on the recliner, covering his head and coughing twice in a fake manner.
"Didn't you hear what I just said?" the sword spirit asked in a deep voice.
Li Chang'an: "I understand, but you're not a spirit, and your original sword hasn't come over, which means asking you to help me won't trigger the restriction."
“I know you can control the level of your spiritual power when you use it. You can lower it a bit and just use a cultivation level similar to the Nascent Soul stage to help me harvest the crops. I won’t take advantage of you too much,” Li Chang’an continued.
The sword spirit was about to speak: "You..."
Li Chang'an became breathless again, and shamelessly said, "If you don't help me, I don't care about any injuries. I'll exhaust my spiritual power, tear my soul apart, and go farm and raise pigs."
"Anyway, missions are either completed or not. I've already paid the price with my life, so I suppose the god from my previous life won't blame me."
Li Chang'an sighed: "Alas, I wonder if I will have an afterlife if my soul is injured so severely?"
Blade & Soul: ...
It is indeed a very serious problem, but something just feels off about it?
I thought about it for a long time but still couldn't figure out what was wrong.
"Alright." The sword spirit turned around. "I'll help you."
Li Chang'an immediately laughed and stood up from the recliner: "In that case, I will thank you in advance, senior."
Having resolved this matter, Li Chang'an felt refreshed and no longer found the pain in his soul so unbearable.
Back in the room, the fungus spirits and mandrills hadn't left; they were all asleep on the sofa. Li Xiaoguai had gotten out of bed at some point and curled up next to the mandrills, his little belly rising and falling.
Li Chang'an plugged in his phone, glanced at the little ones on the sofa, then turned off the light, lay down on the bed, and took a deep, comfortable breath.
The fragrance of Wanlingrui filled my nostrils, and the pain in my soul was relieved for a moment.
Li Chang'an sighed.
It's okay if I can't use my spiritual power for at least six months. Just consider it a vacation for myself. Awesome!
*
Li Chang'an slept until the next morning, but woke up before six o'clock due to his biological clock.
The mushroom spirits and mandrills also woke up at this time, and the noise woke up Li Xiaoguai.
Li Xiaoguai's fur was a little sticky. She lay on the sofa in a daze for a while, watching the mushroom spirits jump off the sofa one by one. She then tried to jump down herself, but twisted her front paw and landed on her chin, falling flat on her face.
It was still too small, and jumping down would still hurt a bit. It groaned, shook its head, and then became energetic again.
Looking at this scene, Li Chang'an seemed to understand why Li Xiaoguai had jumped off the bed last night.
That poor kid.
He smiled, finished washing up, picked up Li Xiaoguai, put her on his shoulder, and went downstairs together.
As Li Chang'an walked into the courtyard, he immediately spotted the sword spirit standing with his hands behind his back behind the gate.
Hearing his footsteps, the sword spirit turned its head and its gaze fell on the mushroom spirits and the mandrills.
Li Chang'an then remembered what happened last night, and bent down to the mountain demons and mushroom spirits, saying, "I can't use spiritual power for at least half a year. I need to recuperate for the next few days. After that, you will accompany Senior Sword Spirit to work."
Of course, once he's feeling better, he'll go back to work in the fields.
The mandrill was startled!
Will I be working with this sword spirit from now on?
It still remembered how it felt to be suppressed by the sword spirit, and silently hid behind Li Chang'an.
Li Chang'an sighed helplessly and patted the mandrill on the shoulder encouragingly.
The fungus spirits were alright; they were too naive and didn't realize the sword spirit harbored any malice, so they could get along with him normally.
The sword spirit turned around and flew towards the terraced fields first.
The mushroom spirits followed without hesitation, while the mandrill, still clinging to Li Chang'an, grabbed his pants tightly.
Helpless, Li Chang'an thought for a moment and then led the mandrill to the terraced fields.
The sword spirit was standing on the embankment beside the spirit rice field, waiting for them.
"Senior," Li Chang'an walked over and said with a smile, "Let me teach you what to do first."
As he spoke, he pointed to the drained rice paddy and explained which were the rice plants and which were weeds.
As soon as the introduction was finished, the sword spirit slightly raised his hand, and the weeds in the spirit rice field instantly disappeared.
Li Chang'an was taken aback, then his eyes lit up, "What kind of magic is this?"
The sword spirit glanced at him indifferently and said, "Once you ascend to immortality and become the master of the immortal mountain, accomplishing this will be as easy as snapping your fingers."
Li Chang'an nodded excitedly.
He was about to go upstairs to continue teaching the sword spirit which were weeds when the sword spirit raised its hand to stop him: "Go back and rest."
"Huh?" Li Chang'an was taken aback. "Then do you know which ones in the field are weeds?"
The sword spirit didn't turn its head, watching the fungus spirits that were already flying upwards: "They know."
Li Chang'an was finally relieved.
The mandrill was still a little scared and didn't dare to go with the sword spirit, so Li Chang'an decided to take it to feed the pigs, chickens, and ducks.
Leaving the terraced fields, the mandrill visibly breathed a sigh of relief.
It can chop pig feed and cook pig food, and it can do it very quickly using its spiritual power.
Seeing that everything was in good order, Li Chang'an took Li Xiaoguai to the warehouse, took out some vegetables from the storage box, caught a few shrimp from the pond, and asked Hei Jian to help catch a black-scaled fish from Ningjing River.
Black Sword hadn't fished in a long time, but he hadn't lost his fishing skills. He caught a fish the moment he went into the water.
Li Chang'an carried his things back home, put Li Xiaoguai down, and let it play by itself.
He lit a fire in the stove, prepared the shrimp and fish and steamed them separately, then kneaded flour to make some handmade noodles.
While the dough was rising, the shrimp and fish were already steamed.
Li Chang'an took out the shrimp and fish, peeled the shrimp shells, shredded the shrimp meat, and then went to the restaurant.
When he came over just now, he saw that there were two cat bowls in the corner of the restaurant and goat milk powder in the cabinet. It seems that during the week he was unconscious, Tianxuan and the others fed Li Xiaoguai goat milk.
Li Chang'an picked up a cat bowl, put the chopped shrimp meat into it, and then poured in a little goat milk, just enough to cover the meat.
Not long after Li Xiaoguai arrived in the unfamiliar place, Li Chang'an put it down, and it didn't dare to run around, so it huddled under the restaurant chair.
Seeing Li Chang'an bring out the cat bowl and place it in the corner, smelling the familiar milky scent, it hurriedly ran out, affectionately rubbed against Li Chang'an's ankle, and then meowed as it ate the shrimp.
Li Chang'an looked at it and smiled unconsciously, his eyes filled with emotion.
“Your great-grandmother ate like this back then,” he said, while eating.
After Li Xiaoguai finished eating, Li Chang'an petted it and went back to the kitchen to continue making breakfast.
He chopped some chili peppers and put them on the steamed fish, then poured hot oil over it.
Then he chopped up another chicken, minced the meat very finely, and stir-fried it into spicy chicken. The kitchen was filled with the pungent smell of chili peppers. Li Xiaoguai, who had been following Li Chang'an, ran into the living room again.
The spicy chicken is cooked, and the dough has rested.
Li Chang'an pulled noodles, added some Chinese cabbage while cooking, and then ladled a spoonful of spicy chicken over them, making them incredibly fragrant.
After making several bowls of noodles, Black Sword went to fetch water from the Ningjing River. Tianxuan and Tea Spirit had just gotten up and gone downstairs. Sword Spirit finished all the work on the terraced fields and returned one after the other with the mushroom spirits and mountain demons.
The group of people and the mountain demons enjoyed a delicious breakfast of noodles, while the mushroom spirits drank the sweet and delicious water of the Ningjing River.
After breakfast, Li Chang'an went to the bamboo forest and cut two bamboo stalks. He then sat in the yard and wove a cat house and made a cat climbing frame.
After the cat's nest was woven, the fungus spirits used their spiritual power to polish it smooth, ensuring there were no burrs between the bamboo strips.
Just as they put it aside, the mushroom spirits brought Li Xiaoguai over to try it again.
The cat bed is made to adult cat size, and if it's durable, it can last Li Xiaoguai from kittenhood to adulthood.
But it's a bit too small for Li Xiaoguai now.
It curiously scratched around in the bamboo cat house a couple of times, and soon curled up into a ball, with dozens of mushroom spirits able to squeeze in around it.
There are also dozens of cats outside the cat house.
At this moment, Li Chang'an put down an even larger bamboo cat house: "Here, this is for you."
The remaining fungus spirits swarmed over, polished away the rough edges, and nestled comfortably inside.
The bamboo cat bed is cool and comfortable.
Li Chang'an smiled and then prepared to make some cat trees and hiding places.
He searched for tutorials on his phone and looked at them for a long time. Just as he was about to start doing it, he suddenly received a WeChat message.
It's Li Guoliang.
Chang'an, are you there? Your Aunt Rong and I have come to see you.
News from Xie Kuling also arrived simultaneously:
Are you awake? Your relatives and elders have come to visit you and are waiting in the living room. Shall I come and greet you?
It was only then that Li Chang'an realized that in the previous few days, Aunt Rong and the others had sent him messages asking how he was doing.
He had been in a coma all week, and his phone had run out of battery and turned off. He only turned it on last night after charging it, so he hadn't seen those messages.
Li Chang'an quickly replied to both Li Guoliang and Xie Kuling:
I'm coming right away.

Author's Note: The previous version had almost no plot. I wanted to quickly gloss over it by writing about the sacrifice at Jiarong Mountain [cheek resting on hand], but it just didn't feel right. Today, I slowed down the plot and wrote some slice-of-life scenes, but it's not as rough and rushed as before. The second half of the plot has been revised. Those who like slice-of-life scenes can reread it (it's okay if you don't).
I've been struggling with how to revise this chapter for the past two days, so I haven't written a new one. I'll update tomorrow (Saturday) with a new chapter, my darlings! [droopy-eared bunny head] I really have a little bit of regret.
