"What flavors are available?" Since both her parents were eating at this stall, Yan Xiuwen had to take a couple of bites in front of her daughter no matter how much she disliked it.
"Egg ham, pork chop, and shrimp, these are the only three flavors of rice balls. Mom, don't underestimate the small number of flavors, they taste very good."
Yan Xiuwen picked up the egg, ham and seaweed rice ball and tasted it. She wanted to see if the eggs inside were what they called free-range eggs.
Just as she was about to put the rice ball in her mouth, Min Junru stopped her, "Mom, wait, it tastes better with some sauce."
"Let me tell you, my grandparents use this sauce with rice at home. It's delicious."
Min Junru opened a small box of sauce and evenly brushed it on the surface of the rice ball with the brush she had bought. Ten seconds later, she looked at the rice ball with satisfaction and said, "Okay, try it."
Min Juntao was sitting on the sofa opposite them, his eyes full of disdain as he watched this scene. He thought to himself, what's so delicious about a rice ball? Even the big brand Yi Xin Rice Balls seemed just so-so to him. How could the rice balls from this small town be any better? He was waiting for his mother to spit out the rice ball.
However, the reality was the opposite of what he imagined. Yan Xiuwen ate several mouthfuls without stopping. Min Juntao became anxious. "Mom, didn't you just mention gutter oil? Why did you eat so much?"
"Your grandmother is right. It's indeed free-range eggs. The rice balls taste great with this sauce," Yan Xiuwen smiled gently at her daughter, then turned to her son and said, "This oil is pure peanut oil. Juntao, come and try it too."
Min Juntao turned his head away proudly and said, "I don't want it!"
"If you don't want it, then don't, huh!" Min Junru took all the food out of the packaging and placed it on the coffee table. She bought four cups of freshly squeezed peach juice, three servings of each of three kinds of rice balls, and 15 skewers of each of two kinds of meatballs. She had already had a cup of freshly squeezed peach juice in the car, and now she divided the rest of the food equally, along with the egg, ham, and seaweed rice balls her mother had in her hands.
"Dad's not home, I'll bring him some next time I get back. I bought these for the three of us, but my brother doesn't want any..." Her father was away on a business trip this weekend, leaving her, her mother, and her brother alone. Her plan was to each have a glass of freshly squeezed peach juice, three different flavors of rice balls, five skewers of shrimp balls, and five skewers of fish balls.
Min Junru glanced at her brother and said mischievously, "Mom, since brother doesn't want it, let's divide his share. This shrimp and seaweed rice ball is our exclusive secret recipe, so I'll give it to you. I'll take the pork chop one. I'll also give you this juice. I can drink it every day at school. And these meatballs, let's split them equally."
"Mom, let me tell you, Xuehe rice balls are the best in the rice ball world, and meatball world, too. They're really delicious and inexpensive! The shrimp flavor is the best, Mom, you have to try it later."
Because the egg, ham, and seaweed rice balls tasted good, Yan Xiuwen also took an interest in the food her daughter brought back. She watched her daughter divide the food with a smile on her face. She felt a warm feeling in her heart when her daughter brought home delicious food she found at school in town.
After dividing them, Min Junru sat on the sofa with her legs crossed, eating one meatball at a time and sipping the peach juice, looking very happy.
"Wow, so comfortable~" Min Junru looked at Min Juntao proudly.
Yan Xiuwen used a straw to pour the juice into the cup. As soon as she took a sip, the sweet and non-greasy peach juice challenged her concept of good juice. She really underestimated the small stalls in the town.
Yan Xiuwen waved to her son and said, "Jun Tao, come here."
Seeing that her son was not coming over, she directly took a glass of freshly squeezed peach juice, put a straw in it, walked in front of him, and said, "Open your mouth."
Although Min Juntao had a bad temper, he still obediently opened his mouth and took a sip of the peach juice when his mother handed it to him. It was this sip that made him reach out and grab the bottle of peach juice.
He looked at Min Junru in surprise, then took a string of meatballs from the table and started eating them with relish.
This combination is really good.
Yan Xiuwen put down her glass of peach juice and drank the remaining half after lunch. She said to the children, "Don't eat too much. Dinner time is almost here. Save some space for dinner."
The brother and sister said in unison: "I know."
Yan Xiuwen picked up the fresh shrimp and meatballs brought back by her daughter and went into the kitchen.
Min Junru laughed and said, "Oh, didn't you say you didn't want to eat?"
Min Juntao picked up another bunch of meatballs, glanced at her and said, "I am not the same person I was before. Besides, it would be foolish not to eat delicious food. Give me back my share."
Min Junru rolled her eyes and said, "Please beg me."
"Hmph! Stingy!" After saying that, Min Juntao suddenly jumped from the sofa to the coffee table, quickly picked up four rice balls and ran up the stairs, "I'm not begging you!"
"Min Rutao! You took one too many, give mine back to me!"
"If you don't want to return it, then don't return it. You can buy it for yourself when you go to school! You stingy guy!"
Min Juntao rushed back to his room and closed and locked the door in one go. No matter how noisy Min Junru was outside, he remained unmoved. Min Junru was so angry that she went to the kitchen to complain to her mother.
Yan Xiuwen only tried to comfort her with words. They had always been like this: today you snatch this from me, tomorrow I snatch that from you, and they would make up in a short while. As long as it wasn't a serious matter, she wouldn't get involved, and they would solve it between themselves.
The rice balls, juice, and tonight's meal completely changed Yan Xiuwen and Min Juntao's perception of street food. They just regretted that the Xuehe stall was only open on weekdays. But this didn't bother Yan Xiuwen. In the days to come, she would go to the Xuehe rice ball stall once a week and stock up on a week's worth of goods each time.

On Monday, when Jiang Yingxue drove her tricycle to the school gate to set up her stall, she found that the spot where she was setting up her stall had already been occupied.
She looked up and saw a sign hanging on the body of the tricycle - Huilong Rice Ball.
This stall also sells rice balls. There is a blackboard hanging on the carriage, and some of the food listed on the blackboard are the same as those of Xuehe Rice Balls.
Huilong Rice Balls offers a wide variety of seaweed rice balls, including shrimp, pork chop, and egg and ham rice balls, as well as chicken fillet, pork floss, and salted duck egg rice balls. The prices are affordable. Shrimp, chicken fillet, and pork chop are 8 yuan, while the others are 5 yuan. Drinks include peach, watermelon, and mango juice, all 10 yuan a glass.
It was obvious that Huilong Rice Ball was after Xuehe Rice Ball, but she didn't care. Business was like that; if your business was doing well, others would want a piece of the action. Besides, the land was public, so whoever arrived first could set up shop.
Jiang Yingxue's eyes fell on the shops on both sides of the school gate. Should she open a permanent shop?
Although she made some money from selling rice balls, it was not enough to buy land and build a house in the town. It seemed that she had to make some food and sell it at the price it deserved.
Her thoughts returned to her mind, and Jiang Yingxue observed the empty spaces around the street. Three seconds later, she stopped directly next to the Huilong rice ball stall, under the shade of a tree.
If you want to compete, then come on.
