Chapter 44 Miracle Crepes
The moment Sukuna's curse tore through the clouds, the bones of the entire mountain let out a heavy roar.
Fushiguro watched as the depressing and boring place in his memory softened under the onslaught of cursed energy. The mountain's jagged outlines were kneaded and deformed by an invisible giant hand. The once knife-like cliffs gave way to gentle slopes, their surface covered with unknown vines and grass stems. Millions of blue snowflakes burst from among the vines, creating the illusion of pale blue clouds floating across the mountain from afar. The tower atop the main peak collapsed with a bang. The bricks and stones melted into fine sand in mid-air before they even hit the ground, shaping the outline of a loft in the wind.
Gojo Satoru let out an excited "Ha!" and leaped up to the top of the torii gate that had not yet weathered, wanting to enter it and feel the change in power. Fushiguro Shigeru cautiously withdrew from the earth that was undergoing tremendous changes and landed on a tall tree not far away. Suguru Geto also released Rainbow Dragon and rose into the air to enjoy this miraculous show.
The roof collapsed next - the tiles floated up like dark clouds blown away by the wind, and when they fell again, they had turned into undulating butterfly tiles, and the tiles were the color of the blue sky after the rain.
The beams and pillars in the building peeled off and disappeared. The stones in the ground were summoned by Gong Zhili and were quickly built into a moon-shaped gate. Emerald-colored living water gushed out from the ground, forming a winding waterway under the stone bridge. The surging boulders penetrated the floor tiles. A slightly arched stone bridge was built on the highest point of the stone peak. Spring water gurgled under the bridge. The water vapor rising from the earth veins supported the scattered bamboo leaves, and the leaf shadows fell on the water surface, causing ripples.
Gojo Satoru landed on the bridge, stroked the bridge with his hand, and confirmed that the stones that made up the bridge were essentially no different from other stones in the mountains. He simply sat cross-legged on the railing of the stone bridge and used his six eyes to observe what other magical abilities Miya Chiri had that had not yet been revealed.
The once oppressive black gravel ground cracked into spiderweb-like patterns, and the interlaced bluestone paths reorganized, transforming into the swastika-shaped railings of the waterside corridor. The pillars of the waterside buildings were all single blocks of bluestone lifted directly from the mountain. Silver fern crawled across the uncarved natural stone surface. New leaves sprouted from the maple branches, a crisscross of fiery red and fresh green. Rows of lush weeping crabapples flourished beside the arrow bamboo forest. Although it was October, the branches of the crabapples were completely bent, the slender stalks weighed down by the heavy buds. From a distance, the forest looked like it was covered in a layer of pink mist.
The whole mountain finally calmed down, and the forests and buildings were layered with dark green and light pink.
This time, Gojo Satoru came to Miya Chiri's side - she was standing on the top of the mountain, reaching out to adjust the building nestled among the mountains and rivers. He did not say a word, quietly admiring the scenery he had never seen before.
The mountain breeze twirled her scattered hair. With a dot of icy blue light lingering on her fingertips, she gently traced the valley. The green-tiled roofs of the scattered houses suddenly became as neat as if combed. The gray-black beams and pillars shed their old shells, revealing the warm grain of the wood. White walls spread from the mountainside to the foothills, and sunlight filtered through the stream, casting shimmering ripples.
"I really don't appreciate courtyards with a small tree growing on fine white sand." She blew toward the valley, and the accumulated rubble collapsed with a loud bang, forming a mirror-like pond. Taihu stalagmites emerged from the ground, and clusters of ferns emerged from the holes. Drops of water dangling from the tips of the leaves fell into the water, awakening the slumbering koi. The fish flicked their tails in the water, as if they had lived in these waters for a long time, just like these buildings. If it weren't happening right before his eyes, Gojo Satoru would have thought this place had always been like this: peaceful and leisurely, every scene a reminder of the presence of nature.
"Isn't this courtyard more comfortable?" Gong Zhili turned and asked him, "Although it's a bit winding, it's beautiful when you walk in."
Gojo Satoru praised: "I can already feel the beauty without going inside."
Whether it is the pillars of the waterside corridor, the carved wooden windows, or even the kitchen and the wing rooms, they are all stamped with her strong personal imprint.
On the terrace of the main building, white jade bells adorned the corners of the light-proof gauze curtains, which rang softly in the wind. Gojo Satoru felt that this kind of place also had her characteristics.
Gojo Satoru bent down to pick up a half-broken tile, carefully examining it to see if there was any trace of cursed energy left. Gong Zhili shook her numb hands. The stream gurgled as it flowed—this brand-new Jiangnan garden would now belong entirely to her.
Gong Zhili stood on the top of the mountain, stretched his hands above his head and clenched them, stretched them left and right, and slowly exhaled.
“It’s such a hassle,” she said. “Next time you ask me to do a remodel, I’ll charge extra.”
The mountain breeze blew across her face, and Gojo Satoru clearly saw the satisfied smile on her face.
Gojo Satoru put his hands in front of his mouth and made a trumpet shape: "You obviously got the benefit!"
Xia Yujie slowly stepped onto the mountain path and said, "Don't do those actions that only appear in idol dramas, Wu. They don't suit you."
Gojo Satoru put one hand on his waist and said, "Any position suits me perfectly, okay?"
Miyajiri jumped between the mountains and houses, and landed beside Fushiguro Shiori as lightly as a deer. "Fushiguro-kun, what do you think of my aesthetic?"
Fushiguro Shier walked through this completely different forest with his hands in his pockets. He looked around for a moment, then his gaze fell back on the little girl and said, "What is your technique?"
Gong Zhili was stunned and tilted his head: "I'm not a sorcerer."
Fushiguro Shier paused and looked at her directly: "If you are not a sorcerer, how can you do these things?"
Gong Zhili spread his hands: "Although I used the power of the cursed object, I was indeed using my own strength."
How should she explain her ability to transform cursed energy into her own strength after making a contract with the land? After thinking for a few seconds, she began to feel troubled: "It's difficult to explain. Then, Fushiguro-kun, just think of this as my technique."
Fushiguro Shier snorted and stopped walking in. Instead, he turned and left. He turned his back to Gojo Satoru and waved, "I'm very satisfied with this performance. I agree to what you said before, but the payment must not be less."
Fushiguro Shier's figure quickly disappeared, and Gong Zhili stretched out his hand: "Reward."
Gojo Satoru: "This land is my reward."
Miyajiri: "But you used me to achieve your goal of persuading Fushiguro-kun. This is another price."
Gojo Satoru stroked his chin in thought, "Then I'll treat you to crepes."
Geto Xia Yu jumped off the Rainbow Dragon and said, "I want banana chocolate flavor."
Gong Zhili's eyes lit up: "I want the strawberry and cream flavor that they introduced on TV! And I want chocolate sauce on it!"
Gojo Satoru sighed, "You really learned a lot of new things from watching TV."
The three of them set out from their remote residence and came to the bustling city of Kyoto. Gojo Satoru, who was familiar with the place, took them to a crepe shop.
Gong Zhili followed behind him and whispered to Xia Yujie: "It's actually a specialty store. I thought they would buy it at a stall."
Xia Yujie lowered his voice to match her: "Because Wu is the eldest son, he won't go to a street stall with us."
Gong Zhili nodded: "Young Master, that's how it is. Young Master, you're accommodating us by coming to eat crepes."
Geto Xiayou smiled: "So be grateful."
Gojo Satoru turned back, unable to bear it any longer: "I brought you here because this restaurant is delicious. I never discriminate against street vendors!"
The two people behind him stood up quickly, with innocent expressions on their faces, as if to say, "What just happened?" Xia Yujie waved his hand: "Satoru, we are very grateful."
Gong Zhili finally couldn't hold back her laughter. She walked forward and patted Gojo Satoru's arm: "I believe the restaurant you chose must be delicious. Let's go, Master Gojo."
The production process of the crepes in this shop is no different from that of the roadside stalls. They are all made directly in front of the customers. Gong Zhili drank milk and silently noted down the production process.
Gojo Satoru sat next to her. Seeing her focused expression, he leaned closer and asked, "Are you planning to make this at home?"
Gong Zhili nodded: "Where can I buy this kind of crepe machine?"
Geto Xiayou also put his head close, and the three of them whispered to each other.
Xia Yujie: "Can I buy it directly from the store owner?"
Gong Zhili: "It's not good to just tear down the store."
Gojo Satoru was speechless: "Why not ask the shop owner where he got this machine? It can be sold at a street stall, so it must not be difficult to get."
After watching the waiter make three crepes, Gong Zhili had a rough idea in mind: "I'll make it the same way in a frying pan at home."
Gojo Satoru doubted: "Can it really work?"
Gong Zhili nodded: "The key is the material of the crepe skin, that is very important."
"How do I do it? Go buy the recipe?"
“How much will it sell for?”
Gong Zhili shook his head, picked up the crepe placed in front of him and said, "Of course I learned it by eating it."
She took the first bite and began to savor it carefully.
Gojo Satoru also picked up his portion: "It feels like it's just flour, butter, and eggs... With these, nothing will taste bad."
Geto Xia Yu has been able to fully enjoy the joy of delicious food recently, and is happy to provide Gong Zhili with some of his own guesses about the ingredients: "Maybe milk is added."
The two of them guessed several recipes, one saying that some salt could be added, another saying that some vanilla could be added. When they had finished showing off their limited knowledge of desserts, they found that Gong Zhili, who was sitting in the middle, had already finished a crepe.
Gong Zhili saw that they were all looking at him, wiped his mouth, and said, "I can't finish one, I want another chestnut Mont Blanc flavor."
Xia Yujie twitched his lips: "Although it's not evening yet, if you eat two servings, what will happen to dinner?"
Their efficiency was really high. They left the house, arrived at their destination, watched a grand miracle, and now they had tea time for dessert.
Miya Chiri: "But the chestnut Mont Blanc is only available in season."
Gojo Satoru raised his hand and said, "We'll add three more orders of chestnut Mont Blanc."
Xia Yujie gave up after failing to stop him: "Do you want to continue researching the crust?"
Gong Zhili stared at the clerk again, observing the production process, and replied casually: "It doesn't matter. The children have never eaten crepes. They will say it's delicious no matter how I make it."
Gojo Satoru: "My parents are a scammer."
Gong Zhili looked sideways at him and said nothing.
Gojo Satoru blinked: "What's wrong?" He wouldn't be angry because of this, right?
Gong Zhili asked, "Just now at the Zenyuan family, you two didn't seem to be affected at all."
Not only were Gojo's six eyes functioning normally, but Geto also remained seated on the Rainbow Dragon without getting down.
The last time I came to the village, it was the same. Xia Yu's rainbow dragon did not suddenly disappear after entering the village.
"You two already know how to preserve the magical power in your bodies," she said firmly.
Geto Suguru smiled: "It's just a little trick." Although the cursed energy is constantly dissipating, as long as the rate of its loss is controlled, the cursed energy can be accumulated at a faster rate than before.
Gojo looked at her with a look of "Isn't this normal?" and said, "This kind of thing is very simple."
Gong Zhili took another sip of milk and suddenly began to doubt whether the scene he created today had scared them.
Are they both too talented, or is her understanding becoming lower?
