Chapter 89 Playing the Long Line to Catch Big Fish Game Hall
After Geto Suguru returned to the technical high school, he was captured by Gojo Satoru and Miya Chiri to discuss how to fish.
Geto Suguru, dressed in a suit, had just returned from a business trip when he was pulled in to "discuss big plans". He unceremoniously took out snacks from Miya Chiri's refrigerator to fill his stomach, and ate while listening to the trap designed by the two of them.
After listening for a while, he felt something was wrong and interrupted the argument, saying, "You haven't reached a consensus yet?"
Gong Zhili nodded: "This is exactly where we need you. We have different ideas, and Glass doesn't want to be the referee, so I can only ask you for help!"
Gojo Satoru: "So, as I said, if we use Mechanical Maru as our simulation puppet, there won't be any safety issues."
Gong Zhili continued to refute, "Let's not even talk about how long it would take to make this puppet, but to make it realistic enough to impress Big Fish is incredibly difficult."
After filling his stomach, Geto Suguru lazily leaned back into the pillow where he could snuggle up. He began to understand why Glass was unwilling to be the referee.
Gojo Satoru's idea is to completely eliminate Chiri's role, using her image only as bait, and actually protecting her tightly.
Safe house, small domain, simulated spell tool... What Wu wanted to do was not fishing at all, he was just "assuming".
But Chiri said she wanted to go all out. She wanted to put on a big show, from the quarrel between the two, the cracks in their relationship, Gojo Satoru rushing overseas to handle an emergency mission, and Miya Chiri leaving the high school in anger...all these links were thought out.
She also took advantage of the smokescreen that the enemy had no idea what Gojo Satoru was like when he was "stuck in a whirlpool of love", and even planned to keep it a secret from everyone else except him and Nozomi.
He even deceived his own people.
"Chiri, you've watched a lot of TV dramas," Geto Suguru commented pertinently. "But isn't it too risky to send Satoru directly overseas?"
Gong Zhili: "To catch a cunning and shrewd fish, this level of skill is necessary."
Gojo Satoru's face darkened. "I absolutely object to this."
Gong Zhili glanced at him and said, "This is the only point you are most determined to oppose."
Gojo Satoru crossed his arms across his chest, demonstrating an attitude of non-violent non-cooperation.
Xia Yujie tried to smooth things over: "Don't start arguing now, so when are you going to implement your plan?"
The two people said in unison: "Ten years later!"
Geto Suguru: "..."
He said expressionlessly: "You guys can quarrel, but break up now!"
Gong Zhili spread his hands. "We can't choose a sparsely populated area as the chances of being discovered are too high. If we go to a crowded city, it's doubtful whether the village's barrier can withstand it. We can't put the children in danger. Of course, we have to wait until they are a little older."
Gojo Satoru agreed: "The world of curse still needs to develop some new forces."
Let them see who will have the upper hand in the next ten years.
If they lose their patience, that would be the best case scenario. When Xu Suo and others can no longer hide, it means that everything they have done is meaningful.
Geto Suguru: "A lot of things will change in ten years, it won't be too late to talk about it then." Glass, it was wise of you to refuse to be a referee.
Gong Zhili said innocently: "We are just bored waiting for you."
Geto Summer Oil: "What are you waiting for me to do?"
But don't tell him that you waited for him to come back just to listen to their fantastic arguments.
Gong Zhili narrowed her eyes and smiled. "It's mainly for this—qiangqiang." She pulled a cardboard box from the low cabinet behind her and opened it, revealing neatly arranged, exquisite-looking strawberry daifuku. "That shop requires pre-orders months in advance! I finally managed to get one. Wu said you should come back around this time, otherwise he'll steal it."
Gojo Satoru sat up straight. "Hey! I don't have any!"
"You definitely thought about it just now," Gong Zhili handed the box to Xia Yujie, "Try it. Naoko doesn't like sweets very much, so I only gave her one. Let's share these."
Geto Xia Yu looked at the box of soft, white snacks with faint red strawberries visible inside, then looked at Miya Chiri, who had a "thank me now" expression on her face, and Gojo Satoru, who pretended not to care but kept glancing in his direction. He rolled his eyes, which ruined his image: "After I ate so many snacks?"
Gong Zhili brought the green tea with a smile: "Don't give me that. You won't be full with that little food."
Geto Suguru picked up the strawberry daifuku and took a bite. The delicate bean paste and the refreshing strawberry flavor mixed together were really good.
"So," Geto swallowed his snack and stopped dwelling on the trap that would happen ten years later. "What should we do next? I can't really just sit here and daydream for ten years."
Gojo Satoru immediately perked up, his eyes lighting up behind his sunglasses. "There's a new fighting game out in the arcade, and I'm going to let you try my new combos!"
Gong Zhili spread his hands: "I have to act with you guys recently, there is no other way."
Gojo Satoru: "Are you dissatisfied with something?"
Gong Zhili stretched out her hand to look at her nails: "Shoko and I would definitely rather play with things that girls like."
Gojo Satoru reached out and pulled her up: "No, come with us. I'll accompany you to get a manicure next time."
Geto Xia Yu pretended to persuade him, "Satoru, it's not good to be too clingy."
Gojo Satoru gritted his teeth: "The topics they were talking about together were problematic. We can't let them go out alone!"
Miya Chiri giggled, but when Geto Suguru asked curiously, the two of them tacitly agreed not to mention it.
Xia Yujie swallowed the last of his strawberry daifuku, clapped his hands, and stood up. "Alright, let's go to the arcade." He interrupted the two men's riddle-like bickering. "The loser buys dinner."
Gojo Satoru immediately jumped up, like a cat whose tail was stepped on and instantly became excited: "Let's go! Call Nanami Haibara and the others, today I will make your wallet bleed!"
The three of them were arguing as they reached the entrance of the teaching building, where they ran into Nanami Kento and Haibara Yuu, who had just returned from their mission. Haibara still had a hint of sweat on his forehead, and his eyes sparkled, revealing that he had successfully removed the cursed spirit. Nanami, as usual, was expressionless, with his suit jacket draped over his arm and his tie slightly loosened.
"Gojo-senpai! Geto-senpai! Chiri!" Haibara greeted them loudly and energetically.
Nanami also nodded slightly: "Good evening, seniors."
"Oh, I was talking about you guys!" Gojo Satoru stretched out his arms and put his arm around Huibara's neck. "You've come just in time. Jie and I are going to play arcade games together. Gaozi is coming too. Jie, if we lose, will treat everyone to a meal!"
A vein popped out of Geto's forehead: "I will definitely beat you till you cry, Satoru."
Huiyuan glanced at Nanami and hesitated: "We still have a report to write..."
Nanami Kento frowned slightly: "Seniors, we just finished the mission, we have to immediately..."
"Just write a report casually," Gojo Satoru waved his hand nonchalantly, and tried to grab Nanami with his other hand, but Nanami dodged him calmly.
Gong Zhili smiled and said, "We'll be back after dinner. We won't be working all night. I remember your current rules: for missions that aren't Level 1 Curse Spirit missions, the reporting period is three days, and you can submit electronic files?"
Nanami Kento's expression eased slightly: "Yes."
Geto Xiayou also spoke up: "Then the seniors will take you to relax today. If it's not an urgent mission, we won't send you back to back. Besides, we are here."
Helping the younger generation with two urgent tasks is a gift from the seniors.
They dragged Glass, who was reading in the infirmary, and the group went to the game hall.
Gojo Satoru and Geto Suguru went straight to the latest fighting game, inserted coins in tacit understanding, and started the duel.
Miya Chiri and Naoko watched for a while and found that the boys were immersed in a tense and exciting duel, so they linked arms and went to play Taiko no Tatsujin.
"I kind of want to get a manicure," Gong Zhili said, her fingers slender, pale with a hint of pink, a very healthy color, as she held the drumstick. "But the nail art styles nowadays are all too long, and I don't like that."
Ieiri Naoko looked at her fingers and said, "Why don't you buy some nail polish and paint it yourself? My hands are very steady."
Gong Zhili was surprised: "Really? Then I'll go buy some related magazines and we can study them together."
The two of them played Taiko no Tatsujin for a while, and then heard Haibara's exclamation from the arcade game. They were curious about the result of the game, so they went back there.
When the word "KO" appeared on the screen, Gojo Satoru leaned back suddenly, and the gaming chair creaked under the heavy weight.
"Best of three!" he shouted unconvincedly, "I just hadn't adjusted to the timing of releasing my ultimate move yet!"
"You didn't say that just now," Xia Youjie quit the game and stood up, "Thank you for dinner."
Miya Chiri laughed unceremoniously and took out his cell phone to take a picture of Gojo Satoru's droopy face.
Gojo Satoru stood up angrily and turned his attention to other games: "Haibara! Nanami! Let's play Taiko no Tatsujin!"
Haibara went there happily. Nanami, forced to play with a drumstick by Gojo Satoru, could only follow the rhythm with a look of despair. Her movements were stiff, but she gradually caught up with the rhythm and played very well.
After a round of play, the group finally gathered around the racing game. This time, even Naoko and Miya Chiri joined in. After a few chaotic rounds of collisions and drifting, the rankings were unexpected—Nanaha was first, Miya Chiri second, Naoko third, and Haibara fourth. Gojo Satoru and Geto Suguru, having tripped each other up, fell behind and were disqualified.
By the time they left the arcade, it was already dark. Gojo, having accepted his defeat, led everyone to a familiar restaurant. The atmosphere was relaxed and cheerful, and even Nanami's expression softened considerably.
After dinner, passing by a famous dessert shop, Gong Zhili stopped and said to Gojo Satoru: "Wait, buy something."
Not long after she went in, she came out with two exquisite paper bags.
"I brought this for Ms. Kuroi and Riko." She shook the bag. "They said last time they wanted to try their cheesecake and matcha rolls."
Gojo Satoru leaned over to take a look. "Oh, that's it. Then add two more chestnut Mont Blancs. I don't think they're too sweet, but they should find it just right."
Geto watched them select desserts for their friends with unwavering naturalness, as if it were a routine they'd done countless times before. The evening breeze blew, bringing the coolness of the night. The streetlights cast a warm yellow, casting their shadows long. The clamor of gaming and bickering subsided, leaving behind a peaceful and warm atmosphere.
He said nothing, simply watching Miyajima carefully pack the newly added cake while Gojo Satoru paid for it. Then the group began to clamor back again, plotting how to get the pastries back quickly before the cream melted.
The lights at the entrance of the high-tech zone are warm, and this relaxed and daily life is their true self at this moment.
