Chapter 12 Chapter 12 Memories and Breakfast
Gong Zhili knew he was dreaming.
The protagonist in the dream should be her former self.
Little Gong Zhili grew up in a doomsday base. Although it is called the doomsday, it has nothing to do with the zombies in novels. It is just that the human population has dropped to a certain level, civilization has been broken, technology has regressed, and the wild environment has become more active and aggressive. Most of the remaining humans have to survive in groups, and the base where she is is such a place.
The slightly special thing is that humans in this period will awaken special abilities.
She saw herself being born and raised in the base, being taught seriously by her mother who was a teacher, and being beaten by her father who was the second-in-command of the base - when she was a child, she was a naughty child who would skip classes.
The direction of her awakened supernatural power is "strength".
As she grew up, her qualities as a leader among children gradually emerged, and many young people who wanted to go outside the base like her gathered around her.
Affected by the hardware facilities of the base itself, plans for outward exploration always failed halfway until she was elected as the lord of the base.
That's right, she is a person who will definitely achieve her goals once she sets them. Even though her elders prevent her from going out and seeing the world, she will overcome this obstacle.
She worked very hard in the territory, whether it was the necessary land reclamation, various agricultural activities, caring for children and the elderly, or going out hunting, looking for new edible plant varieties, mastering all kinds of useful and useless skills, and having an extraordinary learning ability. More importantly, she honed her own abilities to the extreme. The base had a population of hundreds of thousands, and she was the pinnacle among them.
In her dream, she saw the day when she would become a lord. She was so high-spirited and full of hope.
Living in the end times, the emotion of "hope" will also be expressed in distorted ways.
While exploring the outside world, she encountered a geological disaster. Fortunately, her companions were elsewhere at the time, and she was the only one who died.
The following was her first day here.
This world transformed her powerful sexual power into another kind of power. This land was tied to her, which also meant that she could no longer return to her previous world.
In the dream, tears rolled down Gong Zhili's eyes.
--
This sleep was too long. When Gong Zhili woke up, his consciousness was awakened by the sunlight. He immediately woke up and got out of bed: the twins were not in bed, and there was a suspicious person outside the balcony...!
Then her enhanced hearing brought her the sounds of movement in the house.
The man was talking to the two children... Gong Zhili could feel that the cursed energy in his body was still being steadily transferred into her body.
What a scary guy.
Gong Zhili got up and changed her clothes.
The aroma of scorching fried eggs wafted over, and Gong Zhili noticed pale blue veins emerging on her wrist—a sign of the land's excessive nourishment. She tucked the newly sprouted rose thorns into her hair and heard the crisp sound of porcelain plates colliding from inside the house.
Gojo Satoru was tapping his fork against the rim of his glass, the clear clink mingling with the sounds of him and his child bickering. Morning light streamed down his snow-white lashes, and his unmasked eyes, a languid pale blue, shimmered like the ocean after a storm. Miya Chiri noticed he'd changed into a baggy gray sweater, the collar askew, revealing his collarbone. It was clearly one of the clothes she'd stored in the attic suitcase.
Did this person touch every place in the house? Isn't he hot?
"So if you can't cook, don't waste the duck eggs that Lord Gong brought back!" Mimiko sat on a low stool, her hair tied up in a mess, with several pigtails sticking out in all directions. Her cheeks puffed up, and she stared nervously at the frying pan in Gojo Satoru's hand.
Nanako's hair was in a similar state.
Gojo Satoru suddenly leaned back, his eyes locked on Miyajima, who had appeared at the kitchen doorway. The movement caused his sweater to slip off his shoulders, revealing a large expanse of pale skin. Miyajima's pupils constricted—the cursed energy sucked away by the earth was snaking through his veins in the form of green vines, ultimately flowing into the strange spot of light at his heart.
"I'm the almighty Gojo-sama..." He flipped his wrist, and the fried egg sizzled in the pan. "Fried eggs are a piece of cake now~"
Amid the twins' exclamations, the shadow at Gojo Satoru's feet began to wriggle erratically, the remnants of the Six Eyes' unique cursed energy seeping into the cracks in the wooden floorboards like a receding tide. Miya Chiri suddenly realized that the plants around the house were much more lush than they had been yesterday.
"Using someone else's kitchen without permission?" Gong Zhili asked calmly.
Gojo Satoru lifted the sizzling frying pan. "A gratitude dish!" Golden egg liquid spread across the pan. "After all, I replenished so much energy from Miss Gong last night..." He licked the oil splattered on his palm, his six eyes suddenly covered with misty gray. "Although the conversion rate is infuriatingly poor."
When the morning light passed through Gojo Satoru's translucent earlobes, she discovered that even the man's capillaries were glowing with the light blue color of cursed energy - the land extracted and transformed every drop of his energy. At this moment, the entire mountain forest was breathing in his bones, but at the same time, he was also breathing with the land. He actually mastered the method of communicating with the land's power in this way.
In Gong Zhili's perception, it was like connecting to a supercomputer with superior computing power from the outside world. The memory was expanded and the calculation became extremely smooth.
The amount of energy he transformed in one night was considerable - looking at his energetic appearance, you can tell that what he said about "replenishing a lot of energy" was true.
"Miya-sama!" Nanako ran to her legs and complained, "This person used the kitchen without permission and made our hair look like this!"
After they got up this morning, they found that Lord Gong was still asleep. They climbed to the upper bunk and found that Lord Gong was still sleeping and did not look sick. In order to show their growth, the two of them ran to the bathroom to wash their faces and brush their teeth, but when they entered the living room, they found a very tall strange man standing on the balcony.
It is no exaggeration to say that Mimiko's hair stood up in fear.
Nanako immediately took her sisters' hands and backed away, preparing to hide in the reception room.
The white-haired man looked at them both, muttering something like "So small," and then casually raised his hands and said, "I'm not a bad person. I was a guest left behind by the owner of the house last night."
He wasn't in the habit of lying to children, so this didn't count as lying—probably.
He pointed to the clothes on his body: "This is the clothes she gave me."
He took it himself after waking up.
But how could a four-year-old child tell the difference? And they had indeed seen the clothes he was wearing before. Half-believing and half-doubting, the two children ran to wash their faces as if following a set routine.
Gojo Satoru watched them finish washing up, watched them help each other tie their hair with combs and rubber bands, and watched them fail at tying their hair...
He smiled at the moment of relief.
Although the cursed energy in his body was still being absorbed by the earth, his mind became clear. He no longer needed to receive a large amount of information when he opened his eyes, and his whole body was relaxed as if floating in the clouds.
Is this what ordinary people feel like? Not sure, try it again.
Gojo Satoru sat cross-legged on the floor, trying to block the loss of magical power and draw power from the earth. He then beckoned to the child, "Let me try."
——This is the result.
Gong Zhili looked at the wild duck eggs in his pan silently, said nothing, turned around and asked the twins to go to the bathroom to comb their hair again.
At least the other party released a relatively peaceful signal first.
Nanako whispered to her in the bathroom, "Miya-sama, who is he?"
Gong Zhili skillfully untied the messy braids on her head and combed them straight again: "An uninvited traveler."
Mimiko: "Traveler? What kind of person is that?"
Miyajiri: "A guy who went hiking in the mountains and got lost and had to come to the village for help."
Nanako exclaimed, "Ah!" "Is he an idiot?"
Gong Zhili braided her hair and patted her to signal. Mimiko stood in front of her and asked, "He's so tall."
Gong is currently only 1.5 meters tall. Zhili: She used to be 1.8 meters tall! She just shrunk after coming here!
And even if my memory comes back, it seems my height won’t go back to what it was before. How annoying!
But this is a good opportunity to teach children: "Eat well, sleep well, and exercise well, and you will grow taller."
Mimiko shook her head. Miyajima almost pulled her hair tight and scolded her. Mimiko's shoulders tensed and stopped moving. She said, "I don't want to be that tall. He hit his head when he came into the kitchen."
Gong Zhili laughed, neatly tied her hair, and said, "Go take the things in the reception room out to dry. I have something to say to him."
After Gojo Satoru finished eating the fried egg that was supposed to be his "repayment dish", he felt a little stronger. He washed the dishes properly and sat cross-legged in the living room.
Miya Chiri was already sitting there, not at all embarrassed by her family's "poverty." As Gojo Satoru sat down, she asked, "What is your purpose in coming here?"
Gojo Satoru: "Let me confirm something."
Something about Jay.
When he started over again, what he cared about most was indeed the changes in Jie.
"It seems you're more important than anything else right now." Gojo Satoru leaned forward, his eyes meeting hers. "Who are you?"
Gong Zhili's eyebrows jumped. This person, even though he was in a disadvantageous position, was still very aggressive in his words. His condescending tone showed that he had a bad personality.
Gong Zhili said coldly: "If you insist on asking this, then our conversation will not produce any results."
She stood up and said before walking into the kitchen, "Just stay here for now."
Gojo Satoru turned around in surprise: "Are you going to keep me here?"
Gong Zhili: "Of course." She also had a lot of things she wanted to ask, and it would be great if she could pry open this guy's mouth.
Gojo Satoru watched her walk into the kitchen, then turned his gaze to the twins who were carrying various items out like ants. After watching for a while, he also stood up, took the bamboo plaques from them, and asked, "Where do you put them?"
Nanako pointed to the open space outside the balcony door and said, "Put it on the drying rack!"
She and Mimiko always had to stand on a stool to put the bamboo plaque on the top shelf. Ah, it's so good to be tall...
Miyajiri made some extra breakfast. She didn't call out, and Gojo Satoru sat down with them around the suitcases without any hesitation. Only then did he say, "You just moved in not long ago."
Gong Zhili knew he was trying to trick her and said unhappily, "Don't say weird things while eating."
Gojo Satoru took a bite of the taro cake, his eyes slightly widened, and the trembling of his snow-white eyelashes was subtle and almost imperceptible.
He thought of the legend of the Yellow Springs he had read before: if a living person or a god fell into the Yellow Springs and ate the food of the Yellow Springs, they would never be able to return to heaven or earth. In other words, the Yellow Springs accepted them.
Is this village like this? Is she some kind of underworld master? Eating her food actually deepened his connection with the land.
The author has something to say:
----------------------
The pain of writing these first few chapters was because I was trying to improve my writing style to be more, how should I put it, refined? So I wrote very slowly, I wasn't used to it, and I kept rethinking and deleting various descriptions, revising and deleting them. I felt so exhausted, and the plot I wanted to push forward never made any progress. I was so sad. But going back to my old style of writing was too plain... but plain water is so comfortable to drink (what am I saying?)
