Chapter 125 presents a perfect opportunity!

Old John was exhausted that day, and he couldn't hide it.

Just as Lady was about to speak up to inquire about the situation, Carl interrupted her before she could even open her mouth.

"Lady, I'll drive the carriage today, and you ride the horse!"

These words immediately caught Lady's attention.

Lady's expression brightened with surprise.

"Really?"

To be honest, while you can get snacks while driving a horse-drawn carriage, you have to keep the speed neither too fast nor too slow.

It couldn't be too fast or too slow, which made Lady, who loved the feeling of speeding, very uncomfortable.

He had originally thought he would be driving the carriage for the next few days, since Karl had been driving it the previous few days.

Unexpectedly, after only one day, Karl actually asked to change it!

Lady was overjoyed.

Before Karl could answer, he immediately turned and walked toward the swift horse.

"Okay, okay, I'll switch with you."

At this point, he had completely forgotten about old John.

Like a gust of wind, one second Lady was standing in front of Carl and Old John, and the next second Lady was already on top of the Swift Horse.

At that moment, Lady's speed was unmatched!

Really!

Carl was speechless and could only turn his head away to avoid seeing Lady.

"Old John, you should get on the carriage too!"

Seeing that old John had not left, Carl said to him.

Old John did not refuse, nodded, and walked towards the carriage.

Karl didn't follow immediately, but observed from where he stood.

Once he was sure nothing was missing, Karl slowly walked toward the carriage.

Ahead, old John had already leisurely boarded the carriage, showing no sign of being in a hurry.

As Carl watched this scene, he muttered to himself, "They really know how to act!"

However, Karl did not quicken his pace upon seeing this, maintaining his unhurried pace.

When old John got into the car, he saw Ella sitting at the doorway of the inner room.

Ella finished her breakfast early and returned to the carriage.

Because Ella was the only woman among the four, her actions did not attract much attention from Carl and Lady.

Regardless, men and women are different, and Ella would naturally relay anything to Old John.

If there was anything important, old John would naturally tell them both.

After Ella got into the car, she saw that the baby bird had already been moved to the doorway of the inner room.

The baby bird was wrapped in several black garments, which Ella had specially chosen.

That way, even if Karl and the others see her, Ella can simply say she's only wearing black.

But because the fledgling was almost blending into the black clothes, Ella didn't notice it when she came in and thought that everyone was wearing black clothes. She was just a hair's breadth away from stepping on it.

Fortunately, just then, the fledgling raised its head, revealing its golden eyes, reminding Ella that there was another fledgling here.

Ella was startled and immediately turned her foot to the side, saving the baby bird from harm.

Ella breathed a sigh of relief, but now was not the time to relax, so she immediately closed the car door.

Fortunately, although her movement caused a commotion, everyone only glanced at the carriage.

Seeing that nothing unusual happened afterward, they withdrew their attention.

So when old John returned, he saw Ella sitting at the far end of the inner room, holding the baby bird.

After Old John closed the car door, he could no longer remain calm.

He suddenly leaned close to Ella, and before he could say anything else, he told her in a very fast voice that Karl had changed to the person driving the train today.

Old John's voice was soft and rapid, but fortunately Ella was fully focused and didn't miss a single word he said.

“Carl Bleddy is more careful and cautious. We can’t open the window on the way. We’ll drive on the road first and throw it out when we find an opportunity!”

As soon as Old John finished speaking, he felt the carriage sink downwards, clearly indicating that Karl was already inside the room.

Almost immediately, Karl's voice came from outside the door.

"Old John, we're about to set off!"

Seeing this, old John gave Ella a wink, signaling her to hide the baby bird.

He then quickly responded.

“Okay, Carl.”

At the same time, he didn't forget to open one of the car windows.

After doing all that, old John moved toward the door.

The moment he opened the door, Karl flicked the reins, and the carriage began to move.

Carl naturally heard the door open and someone approaching him from behind.

Knowing it was Old John, he didn't turn around, but simply asked, "Old John, what brings you out?"

Although Ella had concealed the fledglings well, old John was more at ease knowing that Carl didn't return to him.

"I'm used to it. Time flew by when I was chatting with Lady yesterday!"

"Is that so?" Carl raised an eyebrow, neither confirming nor denying. "You might be disappointed today; I don't know as much as Lady."

Although Carl's words were rather casual, old John could tell that Carl wasn't averse to chatting with him.

He immediately approached with enthusiasm.

Chatting with him would be perfect to distract Karl!

"Hey, what's the big deal? Just chatting!"

When it comes to idle chatter, Old John really was just rambling.

Sometimes, while they were still talking about their time in East City, they would suddenly bring up the things Lady had been chatting about with him.

Sometimes, he'd be saying which place has good wine, and the next second he'd be saying which place has good food too.

It's like hitting the nail on the head and striking a jack-of-all-trades.

Even so, Carl didn't show any impatience, and just chatted casually.

Seeing that Carl was responding, old John breathed a sigh of relief.

But old John racked his brains to find topics to talk about, which was torture for him.

He might not even know as much about the world as Kaldo, and as they talked, he was always afraid of saying something he shouldn't.

Fortunately, his ordeal ended not long afterward.

In the distance, the sound of thunder rose and fell, booming and rumbling.

However, when Old John spoke again a moment later, Carl had already ignored him.

The thunder was so loud that you could barely hear anything else!

This is a great opportunity!

Old John waved to Ella, his hands behind his back.

Ella understood and immediately leaned in at the car window to release the baby bird.

Neither of them noticed that Karl's ears twitched slightly.

The fledgling bird spread its wings and flew to the car window. It didn't leave immediately, but turned its head to look at Ella.

Seeing this, Ella was afraid that Karl might suddenly turn around and discover the baby bird, so she quickly made a shooing motion.

It's unclear whether the fledgling understood or not, but it eventually flew away.

Ella finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Every time I fly them, I'm terrified of being discovered, but thankfully, I always escape unscathed!

Just as Ella calmed down, Carl turned his head away.

Old John couldn't hear Ella's movements, so he had no idea how far she had progressed, and his heart immediately tightened.

"W-what's wrong?"

Even though you can't hear Old John's voice very clearly, you can tell how nervous he is just by looking at him trembling.

Carl remained silent, but gestured for old John to come closer.

This made old John even more nervous.

His hands, hanging by his sides, had unconsciously clenched into fists. Old John dared not resist and pretended to be nonchalant as he moved closer to Carl.
