Chapter 120 Gossiping

As a native of Hope City, Lady knew as much about the gossip surrounding the Governor's family as if she lived next door.

Lady immediately nodded without hesitation: "Yes, that's him!"

There's no need to deny it at all. Even if he doesn't say it now, Old John will find out once they get to Hope City and ask around.

Actually, Old John regretted asking the question as soon as he did.

He didn't realize it at first, but after thinking about it, he realized that Black was the surname of the current governor of Hope City!

Is it alright for him to ask that?

Old John was somewhat uneasy, fearing that Lady might immediately turn on him.

Unexpectedly, Lady didn't take it seriously at all. Not only did she answer his question, she also continued to gossip with him.

"Hey, Rayan, the former governor of Hope City, wouldn't have become a prisoner if he hadn't been tricked by the old governor back then."

"The old governor had two sons, and Rayan was the eldest. Unfortunately, the old governor favored his younger son and tried his best to make him inherit the governor's position."

"So the old governor came up with a plan, fabricated a crime against Lei An, and urgently sent someone to Thunder Valley."

At this point, old John couldn't help but interrupt, "Why didn't the old governor like his eldest son?"

This is too strange! Why would a son only like his younger brother?!

Is the youngest son exceptionally outstanding?

Old John was so shocked that he didn't realize he had actually asked the question.

Lady immediately rolled her eyes and retorted sarcastically, "What's so great about him! He's just a good-for-nothing who only knows how to eat, drink, and have fun!"

After saying that, he suddenly sighed, and his subsequent speech sounded rather old-fashioned.

“Our former governor is so pitiful! I don’t know where he heard the rumors that his eldest son wasn’t his biological son.”

"So, from then on, no matter how well Ryan performed, the old consul was determined to pass the position of consul to his youngest son."

Old John listened and remained silent for a long time.

How could this old governor listen to rumors so easily? Didn't he suspect his younger son if the eldest son wasn't his biological son?

Old John then voiced the same question.

Lady shrugged. "Who knows? That's what everyone says."

He really didn't know the answer to this question. Everyone else was talking about it, but the old governor's stories had all disappeared.

“Let’s not talk about this anymore, it’s pointless,” Lady thought, finding the old consul boring, and quickly changed the subject. “Do you know how Ryan regained his position as consul?”

Old John shook his head, then realized that he was sitting behind Lady and Lady couldn't see his movements at all.

However, before old John could speak, Lady revealed the answer herself.

"It's all thanks to the Thunderbirds of Thunder Valley."

"The black-feathered bird that Lei An brought out was the Thunderbird."

"It is said that when Ray An led the Thunderbird into the governor's residence, he scared the old governor so much that his legs went weak on the spot, accompanied by occasional lightning and thunder."

"Before the old consul could do anything about it, his men immediately rebelled and supported Rean as the new consul."

"After becoming the new governor, Lei An explained the situation in Thunder Valley and named the black-feathered bird that followed him Thunder Bird."

When the Thunderbirds were mentioned, Lady's eyes lit up with longing.

As people ventured deeper into Thunder Valley, more and more travelers encountered thunderbirds. They discovered that although the thunderbirds' calls were like thunder, they were gentle and would not easily attack passersby.

Of course, if the traveler launches the attack first, that's a different story.

Thunderbirds will never let attackers leave easily; even if they don't die, they'll be skinned alive.

Thunderbirds possess a unique lightning attribute, making them far more powerful than other creatures. In addition, they are exceptionally loyal.

To this day, the Thunderbird that accompanied the former governor still resides in the governor's residence, and the residents of Hope City can occasionally still hear its thunderous cry.

Who wouldn't want a monster that's powerful, gentle, and loyal?

Lady was absolutely craving it.

However, apart from the Thunderbird that left with the governor back then, no one has ever heard of any other Thunderbirds appearing outside Thunder Valley.

"Sigh, when will I be able to own a magical beast like that!"

Lady couldn't help but feel a surge of emotions.

Perhaps it was because she was so eager, but Lady seemed to hear a faint rumble of thunder in her ears.

Lady thought she was hallucinating.

Thunder is a common sound in Thunder Valley. If you stay in Thunder Valley, you will constantly hear thunder. Even after you leave, the sound of thunder will continue to linger in your ears for several days before the auditory hallucination disappears.

So, as Lady shook her head, the small rumble of thunder disappeared.

Seeing this, Lady paid even less attention, assuming that she had just been hallucinating.

However, he completely forgot that because of Old John and Ella's presence, and fearing that they might be frightened by too much thunder, they had deliberately chosen to travel in the afternoon.

This time of day in the afternoon is when the thunderbirds rest after they have eaten their fill, so it is the quietest time to travel, and thunder is rarely heard.

In fact, not only did Lady hear the small rumble of thunder, but old John also heard it.

Before old John could react, a hand reached out from behind him and tugged at the hem of his shirt.

It's Ella.

Old John frowned, not understanding why Ella wasn't speaking, but instead just tugging at him.

Although he couldn't understand it, old John didn't take Ella's behavior lightly.

Clearly, Ella did this to avoid attracting Lady's attention.

So, old John quietly moved deeper into the interior of his carriage, trying to turn around without disturbing Lady.

Old John turned to look at Ella, frowning slightly, and asked with his eyes what was wrong.

Ella didn't speak. Instead, she held a small object in her arms and slowly raised it so that old John could see what it was.

Old John followed Ella's movement and looked down, then his pupils suddenly contracted, and he looked up at Ella with disbelief.

Ella nodded, confirming his idea.

Old John immediately felt a tightness in his chest.

However, at that moment, the little creature in Ella's arms suddenly opened its mouth and chirped.

The next second, a small rumble of thunder was heard.

The little thing's behavior was so sudden that Old John was startled and coughed.

"Cough cough..."
