Xu Ling hadn't expected the cub, which had been so obedient just moments before, to struggle so fiercely. In a moment of inattention, it escaped from her grasp.
Just as the cub was about to fall to the ground, Xu Ling rushed to catch it. In the instant it landed, the cub twisted its body and landed on all fours. The next second, it ran quickly to the unconscious Moonlight Silver Wolf, bared its teeth at Xu Ling, and let out a low growl.
All of this happened so fast that Xu Ling hadn't even had time to react before the cub had run away.
"Hey, cutie, what are you doing? Come back here!"
Xu Ling even waved to the cub, but the cub just lowered its body and bared its teeth even more.
It seemed the cub wouldn't come over, so Xu Ling tried to grab it again, but unexpectedly, the cub roared and a wind blade suddenly appeared, shooting straight at Xu Ling.
The incident happened suddenly, and Xu Ling was completely unprepared, only having time to raise her hand to cover herself.
With a "rip," it was the sound of Xu Ling's clothes being torn. Looking at the ripped sleeve, Xu Ling raised her eyebrows in surprise.
After the cub took that shot, it staggered a bit, but noticing Xu Ling's gaze, it forced itself to sit up and bared its teeth at her.
This was somewhat unexpected.
She turned to look at Kaopu, her eyes filled with confusion, wanting him to explain.
Kaopu scoffed inwardly, thinking to himself, "You've already remembered it?" But he still didn't refuse Xu Ling, though his words carried a hint of dissatisfaction.
"I already told you it's Moonlight Silver Wolf, but you insist on petting it like a dog!"
Xu Ling still thought it looked reliable and gestured for it to continue.
"This wolf has silvery-white fur all over its body and absorbs the essence of the moon under the moonlight to cultivate itself."
“Wait a minute,” Xu Ling couldn’t help but interrupt Kaopu, “Are you sure this wolf isn’t a product of our East?”
She had never heard of Western animals cultivating themselves using the essence of the moon. Could it be that animals also cultivate themselves using the first ray of yang energy at sunrise?
Xu Ling's thoughts couldn't help but wander; maybe it really could!
This is truly a bizarre and wonderful world!
"Let me finish!"
Kaopu rolled his eyes at Xu Ling, warning her not to interrupt him again.
"Don't interrupt me again, or I won't give you a science lesson next time!"
Xu Ling nodded hastily and made a zipper gesture near her mouth to indicate that she would definitely shut up.
Only when it seemed reliable did they continue.
“These wolves are born with natural talents. That cub just now could shoot wind blades, so it was obviously born with the ability to control wind elements,” Kaopu pointed to the Moonlight Silver Wolf cub. “Like this one, once it grows up a bit more and can absorb the essence of the moon, its abilities should improve by leaps and bounds. Of course, the premise is that it can live to adulthood.”
"Huh?"
Xu Ling turned to look at the cub, only to see that the cub, which was about to fall to the ground, immediately stood up again, looking at Xu Ling with a fierce expression.
Xu Ling couldn't help but mutter to herself, "She's not a bad person, why does she have to act like this?"
Xu Ling had no idea that in the cub's eyes she was more terrifying than a bad guy, comparable to a great demon king. It had never seen a human hugging and petting a wolf before, which completely refreshed its worldview.
Can I keep it as a pet?
Xu Ling couldn't bear to see such a young cub die so young, so she asked Kaopu, "Look, it's so small and cute. It's so heartbreaking to lose its life!"
The key point is actually the last sentence, "cute." Seeing how cute the cubs are, I just wanted to have a pet!
He was internally ranting, but his face remained impassive, and he even coldly rejected her request.
"No, we can't raise them."
"Why?" Xu Ling blinked, trying to look cute, and pointed at the cub, "It's so small, how can you bear to do this to it?"
The reliable but indifferent reply was: "I can bear it. Survival of the fittest is the law of nature. If death is its inevitable end, then we should not interfere."
Xu Ling: ? ? ? ?
"What nonsense are you spouting?"
Xu Ling was surprised that the reliable guy rejected her without batting an eye. When she realized that acting cute didn't work, she could only throw a tantrum.
"No, I want to have one! I want a pet!"
She eventually revealed her true purpose.
"You already have Rose!" the reliable man reminded her calmly. "Isn't Rose enough for you?"
"Not enough! I want to raise them all!"
She stood with her hands on her hips, looking completely self-righteous. The veins on her forehead were practically bulging, but she could only suppress her anger and try to calmly ask, "Host, why do you insist on raising it? We're not doing well right now, raising it would just be a burden for you. Besides, we might not even be able to keep it alive. What's the point?"
If Kaopu (the author) disagrees with Xu Ling and speaks to her impatiently, Xu Ling can continue to throw a tantrum with a straight face. But if Kaopu speaks to her in a gentle and polite manner, Xu Ling can no longer argue and make trouble.
“I,” she said, her head down, her hands fidgeting, “I think I used to want to raise a puppy, but, but I don’t know why I didn’t. This one looks a lot like the breed of dog I used to like, and that thought just popped into my head.”
Xu Ling suddenly looked up, her eyes filled with longing: "You're reliable, just let me raise it, I'll take good care of it!"
Looking into her eyes, Kaopu was speechless for a moment. After a brief silence, it finally refused.
"Host, our conditions are not good right now. Even if you take it back, it will die if it goes hungry one day and eats too much. Besides, it's still a cub and needs more nutrition. How can you raise it to survive?"
"And what about Ruth?"
Xu Ling quickly cited Ruth as an example. Ruth seems to be still young. She's been with them for the past two weeks and she's been fine, hasn't she?
“Ruth is different. You forgot, she didn’t starve to death for so long before.”
The reliable person quickly pointed out the differences between Ruth and others.
"Then I can go to the Misty Forest to find food for the puppy!"
Xu Ling thought that if she couldn't manage on her own, she could just make a few more trips. If she couldn't manage on her own, she could ask a reliable person to take her along.
The reliable man immediately saw through Xu Ling's intentions. His lips moved, and he finally spoke frankly: "Host, if you're thinking of having me bring you here, then you should save your breath. I didn't tell you before because I was afraid you would get angry."
"What are you angry about?"
"I was able to bring you here so quickly because it cost you your points. Take a look at how many points you have left."
Xu Ling was filled with questions. What did that mean? What points?
She looked at the reliable instructions and blankly opened the data panel to check her system points.
The moment the system points popped up, Xu Ling's pupils contracted. She rubbed her eyes, unable to believe it.
"What? How come there's only 2500 left?"
Where did all her points go?
She stared wide-eyed at Kaopu with disbelief. Kaopu nodded, then delivered a crushing blow to her.
"Yes, it took 1000 of your points for us to come here, and it will take another 1000 of your points to go back."
