There are two East Pearls!
Annika was very surprised and couldn't help but ask, "Old John, where did you get it from?"
Since the king sent his confidant to East City, only ordinary East pearls have been circulating in the market. These East pearls are all transported back to the capital for the use of the royal family, or bestowed by the king upon his ministers.
Of course, it's not to say that there aren't pearls circulating in the market. Those who use special methods can naturally obtain them and then quietly sell them at high prices on the black market.
However, the old John in front of him was dressed in commoner's clothes and did not even have the slightest aura of a cultivator, which showed that he did not have the ability to obtain the East Pearl on his own.
Did you buy it at a high price on the black market?
The idea was immediately rejected by Annika.
The Pearl of Eastbourne isn't something you can just buy with money. For someone like Old John, let alone buying it, even going to the black market would be fraught with danger.
So how exactly did he obtain it?
Annika was intrigued and waited for Old John to give her an answer.
They also knew that Annika would not accept their mission without explaining the origin of the pearl.
Old John was prepared, so he began to explain in detail.
It can only be said that Old John's acquisition of these two pearls was purely by chance.
That was when old John had just arrived in East City.
Upon arriving in East City, old John's first priority was to search for his daughter. He searched tirelessly, both inside and outside the city, even along the coastline.
The incident happened on the day he went to the coastline to search for it.
That day, as with countless others before, he found nothing. He had never seen a little girl with black hair and black eyes in the surrounding villages. Some villagers, seeing Old John's unusual appearance, either answered impatiently or ignored him completely. Old John had even been chased away by the villagers before.
This day was particularly unfortunate; it was a very isolated fishing village, and old John was captured by the villagers before he even got close.
Given his unusual appearance, the villagers believed that Old John's arrival would displease the sea god, so they bound him and threw him into the sea to appease the sea god's anger.
"So you were just thrown into the sea like that?"
Annika was utterly shocked and horrified, never expecting this to happen.
This sea god has been dead for who knows how many years, yet there are still people who worship him?!
Believing is one thing, but to be so ignorant?!
Although Old John had black hair and black eyes, apart from those two features, he actually looked no different from everyone else.
Thinking about this, Annika felt a little sorry for old John's plight.
Old John still feels lingering fear and a look of unease when he recalls that scene.
"Yes, that's how I was thrown into the sea."
"Then what will you do?"
Annika looked old John up and down, her meaning quite clear.
He was completely unharmed and had lived for so many years!
"Let me finish."
Old John continued what he had just interrupted him about.
Old John was in despair when the villagers threw him into the water; he never imagined he would die there.
The seawater engulfed him, with countless drops of seawater rushing into his ears, nose, and throat.
Old John slowly sank to the bottom of the sea, and his consciousness gradually faded away.
Finally, old John was unconscious, but he felt he was in a warm place, a place with no boundaries, but which gave him a sense of security.
The feeling was so warm that old John became drowsy.
But just then, a faint, ethereal voice came from somewhere.
He said.
"Your daughter."
The voice sounded neither male nor female, and it was impossible to tell.
The voice was devoid of any emotion, yet it acted like a stimulant, instantly bringing old John back to his senses.
“I thought I would wake up to endless seawater, but I never expected,” Old John paused, trying to recall the scene when he woke up, “that I was lying on the beach.”
"I was surrounded by fine sand, and I was completely clean and dry."
"I touched my entire body, and there wasn't a single spot that was wet from the seawater."
Old John repeated it again.
Listening to Old John's words, Annika frowned and pondered for a moment before asking, "You mean, you weren't brought ashore by the sea?"
"Yes."
Old John was certain, without the slightest hesitation.
"Even the ropes that were binding me disappeared without a trace. I don't know what happened. Everything was blurry. I thought I was dreaming."
"This dream was so terrifying that the first thing I did when I woke up was to go home immediately."
At this point, Ella, who had been silent all along, spoke up.
John returned very early.
Not understanding what she meant, Annika turned to look at her with a puzzled expression.
Ella explained, "John usually leaves in the morning and doesn't return until almost evening, but that day, he returned before noon."
“John came back in a panic and was terrified. He told me that the villagers had thrown him into the sea, and then he suddenly woke up to find himself lying on the beach.”
“At first, I didn’t believe it. I thought John was delusional. I thought he was just desperate because he was looking for his daughter, and that’s why he was having delusions.”
Ella paused, seemingly recalling her distrust of Old John years ago, and turned to look at him apologetically.
“Until I found the two pearls in his pocket.”
"pearl?!"
Annika gasped in disbelief.
The East Pearl, so rare, was just found in a pocket like that?!
However, Ella readily admitted to Anika's question.
"Yes, it is the Pearl of East."
Ella still remembers the first time she saw the dazzling light of the Pearl of East; at that moment, only one thought lingered in her mind.
This is a treasure!
She wanted to hide it and leave it to her daughter!
pity.
Ella's eyes, filled with sorrow, swept over the two pearls that Annika was protecting.
Unfortunately, she had to give all of this up in order to find her daughter.
"Then why have you kept these two pearls hidden all this time?"
Annika glanced at the pearl in her hand, examining it carefully.
"You should know that with these two pearls, you can live a good life, or you can use them as a reward to perhaps find your daughter."
Ella sneered, finding Annika's words utterly ridiculous.
First of all, if commoners like her and old John were to become known to possess the Pearl of Eastbourne, the first thing people would not even think of is buying it.
They were unarmed and powerless to resist; wasn't it a risk-free business to simply plunder them? Why should they have to pay a price?
Perhaps when the two of them announced the discovery of pearls, countless explorers would have rushed to get involved, and at that time, it was uncertain whether they would have survived.
The bounty is exactly the same. If the two of them were to place a bounty on the "Explorers" website, who knows if they would ever find their daughter.
"Explorers" aren't philanthropists. Newcomers like them are easy targets. What if they end up losing their lives before they even get news of their daughter?
